      ta TA

      Bye BYE.

      • If you'd asked me, I would have said I didn't know any NSYNC songs. Except now I have 'bye bye bye, BYE BYE' running in a loop in my head. Good times.

  • Anyone know how to cast this to a chromecast?

    • Are you any relation to Tightarse?

Like a li'l baby Tightarse, Tightarse and Tighty.

      • No relation to Tightarse. I actually wanted to use Tightarse as my username, but I was beaten to the punch.

        • You should never punch a Tightarse

Watch this movie on Xbox or on Windows 8 or later.

Just wasted 30 seconds of my life. Want refund.

Is there any way i can copy this and watch later?

    • The "Rent free" button in Windows Store app allows you to either stream the movie, or download to a single device to watch offline.

They just closed down the last DVD store near me, now I gotta learn how to watch online… there's so many options, what's the best way?! How would I even get this on my (non-smart) TV? Does it matter that I am out in the boonies on ADSL2+? (I knew I shoulda had kids so they could set this up for me!)

    • +2

Not knowing anything about your budget or technical ability or what kind of tv you've got now… Maybe a Xiaomi Mi Box. That will give you access to Netflix. Plus you can watch any other downloaded content using the Kodi app. There are cheaper options that would require some tinkering.

      • Thanks! I'm OK technically (can build own PCs etc), but I've no idea about network stuff (I use the modem Telstra sent me!)

Yes, I've been eyeing the Xiaomi Box as it seems popular here, but yeah:

        • could never decide exactly which to get (or from where),
        • was never sure if it would be a configuration hassle ("some tinkering" doesn't sound like my thing, I could do it once but it was at all recurring it'd give me the irrits),
        • or if it would even work on my ADSL2+ (I just did a Speedtest (FWIW), got DOWNLOAD 12.94Mbps UPLOAD 0.92Mbps PING 27ms)

And Netflix seems to be shrinking catalogue and I'm pretty sure I won't pay for Netflix and Hulu and Stan and HBO Now and whatever else… just a little basic entertainment would be fine.

My TV is an older 42" Plasma (Panasonic TH-42PX8A Viera): great picture, but slightly odd "Not true HD" 1,024x768 resolution as it uses some sort of trick… (I would buy a new one but wouldn't want to pay more than $1k or so, and they all look kinda pixely compared to my current TV.)

        Thanks again for the thoughts!

No worries. My tv is a Samsung 55" 4k hdr that cost me <$1000. It was a bit of a bargain but you get the idea. Yeah. Plasma owners seem to get attached to their tvs. I get that!

We just have Netflix. More than enough content to keep us going but occasionally you do need to resort to other sources.

I didn't mean hardware tinkering. Basically, you go for particular cheap Chinese media boxes for which some enthusiast has developed alternative software to that which arrives with the machine. Your task is to read forums, find the best versions, research best configurations. That's after crossing your fingers, hoping that the product arrives from China in working order. That's why I recommended the Xiaomi.

          Good luck!

Find a few friends/colleagues/extended family with common tastes and share purchasing BRs/DVDs. When finished swapping, give to neighbours or donate then bask in goodwill. With physical purchase, many win; with electronic purchase, very few win.

      • Yeah, I miss DVDs! All my family/friends are just free-to-air viewers and/or live in the city where there's still DVD rental joints… and I am remote: nice, but the peace/privacy has it's downside sometimes ;)

  • I've just been Googling this out of idle curiosity (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) but I don't think you can cast this to either Chromecast or dlna. So you really are stuck with watching this on your Windows 8/10 computer or xbox. You can cast 'normal' movies on your Windows 10 machine to your dlna-equipped tv but there's some drm-thing going on with Microsoft Store movies. Not much of an ecosystem really.

You can always load up Chrome browser and start desktop streaming to your Chromecast.
Quality will suffer a bit, but it will be watchable.

  • Good shot there Lord Chamberlain!

  • Hmm.. it says 4.99 not free when I go the store. Do I need to change my store to the US?

    • Never mind. You need to redeem from the browser and NOT the store. My mistake.

    got it, ta TA!

  • Marketed as a children's movie it gave me nightmares when I was younger.

One of the gems in the golden age of fantasy cinema alongside The Princess Bride(my fav movie of all time), Krull, Conan the Barbarian and Labyrinth. The animatronics in Dark Crystal was incredible for its time and yeah, it scared the crap out of me the first time I watched it as a kid.

Classic quote from The Princess Bride:
Vizzini: You fell victim to one of the classic blunders—the most famous of which is, “Never get involved in a land war in Asia”—but only slightly less well-known is this: “Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line”! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha…[thunk].
