I'm in the market for a PS4 and there's a 20% off sale near me on the weekend. I don't need the console until Christmas, so is it worth holding out to see what kind of sales are around then or will prices not tend to drop that low?
What kind of discounts could I expect for consoles in the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales?

No idea but it's one of those times when things can get to prices that are considered historical lowest sometimes. Doesn't affect all products but most and a large variety like some stuff you won't need however.
I would say give it a go and wait it out till end of November at least early December to decide then buy a good deal.
You should be able to get a good deal regardless just depends on how good I guess.
December is also a great time for specials and early January so I am petticoat waiting until then to purchase anything also worth buying unless I see some major price drops during black Friday and cyber Monday etc.

Thanks AlienC! Super thoughtful of you to remember this thread and reply with a handy list. I ended up getting one this morning from Big W, just a normal PS4 (not pro) 500gb for $269. Pretty happy with that deal. I was very tempted by the Pro but heard many people say it's wasted if you don't have a 4k TV. And it's just for my son who enjoys playing a Lego game every month or so.
Nice. Congrats compacc all good just wanted to make sure just in case you somehow accidentally missed these sales (I mean who would!). Yeah for the price of $269 it is a steal.. the pro is tempting but yeah the extra premium doesn't seem worth it especially if you like you said don't have a 4k TV or HDR.

Hmm. I'm curious about this too. Is it worth Googling Black Friday Sales last year? I guess though with the XB1X release impending I imagine that PS4 sales/discounts may be variable to account for that? I mean, I guess if I had to say, I'd think that yeah there should be some better sales before XMAS, even just b/c of the XB release, but I think ordinarily there are often some good Black Friday sales. I guess at the end of the day, if you Google previous sales it might give you an idea if the 20% off is a better bet.
If it's not something that you want to buy right now, I'd be inclined to wait and see myself.
