It's showing me higher AUD price than mentioned in the title
* Choose USD as your currency from top left hand corner. Don't select AUD, always choose to pay in USD, it will work out cheaper even after your credit card conversion fees. Also read the below.

How do I ensure I get the cheapest AUD price possible
* To avoid higher currency conversion rates and to get cheapest price from these Chinese websites, always choose to pay in USD, (Choose "USD" from top left hand corner) and when you progress to Paypal payment page, opt for card conversion and not paypal conversion in the final stage of payment. Underneath where it says the paypal conversion rate there will be an option "Other Conversion Options". Click on that and change it to source card Provider Conversion.

To make this change permanently on your PayPal account for future, follow these steps [Highly recommended]

I did not see any option to choose any shipping method and now it's showing me a slower shipping method on my order summary
* Rest assured, all orders to Australia from this deal shall be sent via eParcel (5-8 business days) method, irrespective of what is shown on your order summary. It is however still recommended to set the expectations right and allow about 2 weeks from the date of order to the delivery *

  • If only this is the S version 2, i'll be all over it if it is.

DO NOT buy this dashcam. See here.

    • I have that model and have had 0 problems with it.

      • With the GPS module? And still, you may have been lucky, but it appears to be a very common problem, Google it.

        • Yes with the GPS module. I'm not doubting you and others have had problems. Just saying it doesn't happen to everyone, mine worked first go and has been working for over a year now. People who post on forums tend to be the ones with problems, so any Google based research is definitely biased.

        • @eDust: I still recommend you check your footage every 2 weeks or so. I thought it was working fine until the reset issue began. When I examined the sd card I noticed it actually stopped working properly almost two weeks before that…

        • @BargainCowboy: The GPS mount was improved in v2 for both A119 and A119S.

          https://dashboardcamerareviews.com/viofo-a119s/

        • Yeah, also been using a v1 for nearly a year without any connection problems.

        • @Stix: is this the v2? The pictures show the same connection as what I have.

        • @BargainCowboy:

The connection on the camera is slightly different but hard to see if not side by side.

The main difference is on the GPS module, v1 having push type pins, v2 having V shaped pins (if that description makes any sense)

I didn't actually see any pics of the GPS module pins on the Zapals page, unless I missed it

          Edit: Here's an easier way…

        • @bamzero: that's not the only difference though, the v2 camera unit has exposed connections, meaning not sunken into the body. Easier to clean too.

    • I have 2 and no issues

    • You linking to a different model

Worth paying more for the A119S for 60fps and better night footage IMO: https://dashboardcamerareviews.com/viofo-a119s/

    • watch the night footage and the guy jumping red light and lot more!

    • The A119 can do 1080p @ 60fps btw. Agree A119S is better at night, but the A119 isn't the worst out there.

    • this does 60fps at 1080p or 30fps at 1440p
I went for this one over the S based on video reviews as this is actually better with wider view

  • I Have always wondered, Is there much point in a super high res/high frames per second dash cam? Surely as long as you can make out license plates a few meters away that would be sufficient, no?

What is the purpose of these high res dash cams? Is it worth the additional cost?

    • well that's the point… more pixels mean you can zoom in and still get the plates and higher frame rates means less blur when someone is swerving in front of you

      • Aren't you only really interested in accidents that happen to you? I can't imagine having to zoom in to get a plate number of a distant car if they were somehow involved in an incident with me…

    • Yep, higher res, more detail.
Plus at 60fps you can slow down to watch in smooth slow motion :)

  • Edit nvm it worked when I tried again..

  • Huh I just found out the newer A119S actually has F/1.8 (like A119) although some vendors are still advertising as F/1.6.

Does that mean A119S isn't really worth it anymore for extra money compared to A119?

  • Ordered one, lets see if they send it via eparcel

    • Ordered one too :) hopefully they will keep their word

  • I've seen reviews that this has great video quality and is fairly unobtrusive-looking when installed.
Have a generic version from Gearbest on the way (118C/B40) that lacks Wide Dynamic Resolution, but is otherwise the same.

  • Does this or any dashcam tell you the speed you are travelling at? thx

    • this comes with a gps mount.

      • +1

        thank you

        • We have two a119s (both w/gps) and two a118c.Very happy with their performances. Viofo makes probably the best value/performance dashcams right now.

  • I bought this on the deal several weeks ago. It works great, so I’ve grabbed another one today for my wifes’ car!
I used a Micro SD in mine that I had laying around from a GoPro and it seems to work fine. I'll need another now. Can anyone recommend a 32g card?

    • Samsung EVO plus seems to be preferred from what I have read, but I have no experience myself.

I'll be getting a Samsung for mine FWIW.

  • Just grabbed one - thanks OP.

This model was on my shortlist, $129 was the best price I had seen from Australian retailers. So a $44 saving on that, or around a third of the price - noice.

I had decided the A119S was not worth it - lens is not movable and a lower view angle, and A119S night vision is only marginally better if at all IMO.

I would have gotten two A119 at the price, one for the rear window. But it's for a DMax, I don't see that this cam would suit a vertical rear window. (But if anyone knows better, lemme know!)

    • Some discussion here re vertical rear window for anyone that is interested:
      https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/a119-mounting-angle-an…

In summary, yes you can mount on a vertical window, but on a ute / pickup truck the tailgate is problematic in viewing number plates on vehicles directly behind. You want to have the lens at the extreme top of the rear window, and that ain't gonna be easy with the A119, given the shape of it and location of lens.

I'll keep an eye out for a cylindrical cam for my DMax rear window.

  • After 3 years with the G1W-C, I've decided its time for an upgrade. The G1W was just way to obtrusive but the video quality was actually very good.
Just a dumb question but what is the GPS module? Is it in-built into the dash cam?

    • +1

This one is an external GPS module - the GPS attaches to the windscreen and the cam itself clips on to the GPS module. When they are on the screen they appear as one unit, but you unclip the cam from the GPS in order to remove the cam from the vehicle.

The first version of the A119 had dodgy pins attaching the two, leading to some issues. The attachment is redesigned in V2.

I think - pretty sure - there is just the one power supply. Some dash cams in the style have a separate power supply for the GPS, which would be a PITA.

      • Thanks.
Do you know if this is the genuine Viofo model? I know with the A118's that there are a lot of knockoffs on the market.

        • Haha, no idea if it's genuine - my order states 'VIOFO A119 1440P HD Car Dash Camera with GPS Module - V2 Version'. How trustworthy is the Zapals website I guess?

This video reviews the A119 btw - it does have a single power supply for the unit + GPS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amjcsoExAQU
Looks like the old-style - V1 - connector plugs in the video.

        • @moojar: Well I will have to open up the camera when I get it and see if it has the NTK96660 chip. If I paid this much money for a clone I'm gonna be kicking myself.

  • Update: contacted Zapals and they have told me that they will be shipping via Registered Post, not eParcel. Maybe the deal on eParcel shipping has expired?

  • yup they lied, still havent got it. not ordering from them again.
