Had to double take, bit disappointed couldn't get GTA for 7 cents.
When I was a kid the idea of mobile phones having so much processing power to spare and people could effortlessly make these kind of games and give them away for free, it would have seemed like fantasy. Kids today take these kind of graphics as a minimum standard for granted.

This game might actually be good for little children who are too young to even see GTA, but who really want to play it anyway. Even to toddlers the appeal of GTA is obvious, it's looks like a convincing virtual city on your TV. Granny Theft Auto could be a safe way to fulfil that primordial need all males have to play GTA.

I just bought this.. playing it now. There's no achievements! there's no muffin counter, no pause button, no menu, you can get into 1 car (your blue car) you can't steal others. A useless mini map. There aren't many muffins to collect anyway… should've been a free game!

Iggemo, the Xbox has waaaaay more shit like this than the PS4 does, ever heard of UWP? Microsoft will tell you it stands for Universal Windows Platform and that it's there to port over pretty much any old junk from PC, but it actually stands for U Want Pathetic-god-awful-shit-to-clog-the-entire-store-up-on-your-console.
I tried for like 10 minutes to steal other cars but nothing was happening when I was pressing "X" and i just gave up… :(
I mean, the game isn't super well made, so I wouldn't be surprised if you can't chase down a car and take it while it's moving, but I had no trouble standing in front of a car, making it stop, and taking it for a spin.
I drove a cop car, a school bus, a few bikes, the first car you get, and some other crap in the 5 minutes or so I played it with no problems. Kinda bummed they didn't spring for a siren on the cop car at least, but oh well.
im familiar with the concept of UWP but had no idea about this kinda stuff. So there's more dumpster fires you say? LEL.. is there anywhere to see those games? Like is there a catalogue anywhere or anything?
Also, is there any actual decent games coming across from UWP? I don't care about the PC side as i dont play any games on PC.

I just fired it up for a laugh and I'll give it this, Granny Theft Auto is at least a (mostly) functional game.
You can carjack people, so the auto theft part is accurate. You can run around with no sprint option, so the granny part is also accurate.
There's some looping music that plays through the whole thing and there's no combat or guns or anything, but there's a reasonably sized open world and the car handling is definitely not the worst I've ever seen in a game (though far from the best, obviously), I mean. It works. It's made for one of those online flash game site style things, and as a little flash game it's good enough to play for 5 minutes while you're bored in grade 3 or something, but not much more. I mean, for 7 cents and with the tiny install size, I'm actually gonna leave it installed on my Xbox if only for a laugh.
Ultimately, Unity and similar free engines have made so many shitty little games like these possible, and yeah, they're shitty, but if even one person for every 100 of these shitty games made gets into the industry and starts working on "real" games, well I think that's great.
tl;dr it's functional and for 7 cents it's worth a laugh, definitely paid more for worse games in the past.
