My wife has expressed an interest in a Fitbit Charge 2, but I thought I'd speak to the knowledgeable people on Ozbargain about options before I commit to the purchase.
All thoughts welcome :)
Help me buy a Fitbit Charge 2 (or offer an alternative) for my wifes Birthday!

How? They are both fitness trackers that are both capable of heart rate.
Totally different tier products. Fitbit Charge 2 has GPS which is probably the key feature that separates the entire camp of fitness trackers. It is extremely useful for measuring running metrics like cadence, average pace, elevation (by using GPS altitude measurement), etc.
Well the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is $20. The Fitbit is $200…
The fit bit also has GPS, has a decent app for smart phones etc.
Nothing wrong with the Xiaomi but I wouldn't buy it for my partner if they asked for the Fitbit.
I've seen them go on special quite often.
@KaTst3R: According to Fitbit, Charge 2 actually does not have built in GPS. It needs to collect to your phone to get GPS data.
Thanks for the clarification Scotty. I misread the features on the webpage and though it was trying to say connect to phone app to read GPS stats but in actuality it was saying Charge 2 needs to use the phone's GPS to gather stats.
Do you know why she is interested ? Purely for step counting, there are cheaper products
If she wants one because friends/family have fitbits, then doesn't leave much choice. The peer pressure aspect of having friends/family in the app can be a motivator. Alternatively if you don't want this, then having a different device could be a good excuse.

definitely not at the 200-250 RRP. if you search fitbit charge 2 here on ozb you can see they can go for around 150 quite often.
my gf wants one for xmas and i got one last month for ~$147. if her birthday is not soonish then you could sign up for alert so you get notified when there's a sale.

I think Medibank private customers get 25% off Fitbit products. I haven’t logged in to check if al Fitbit products are included though.
