how much is 30 points worth?

    • +5

About 30 cents, if you sell it.

      • $9.30 for a month of walking…

      • How to sell points?

  • +41

Sometimes it's quicker to walk to your destination then flying qantas so great incentive

    • +2

Especially if you take into account Jetstar are Qantas. 30-50 flights per year for work and I learnt very early on never to book Jetstar. 75% of my flights with them were delayed 20+ minutes. I once waited 4.5h in a regional airport watching Virgin and Tiger flights come and go. At least they gave me a $5 voucher for food, it almost paid for half of my sandwich and soft drink.

      • +1

Haven't you learnt your lesson then? Start walking instead!

    • ha ha ha ! Cracked me !

  • +10

Depends what you use them for. This webpage suggests that for flight upgrades they can be worth as much as 2.28c per point, or for purchases in the qantas store, as little as 0.68c per point.

So that puts the value of 30 points at between 20.4c - 68.4c.

Do this every day of October and effectively you'll earn between $6.12 - $20.52 worth of points.

And the intangible benefits of walking 8,000 steps a day!

    • It's ok if you walk those steps anyway

    • +1

Not necessarily. I got the news first in my email. OP might have gotten the same.

      • +1

He is talking about the source of the info re. the value of points he posted.

  • The app says 8000 steps is 15 points, 10000 steps is 18 point to a max of 22 points for 20000 steps…

    • I believe those are the normal rates you earn if you're doing the 28 day trial, or you have purchased a Qantas Assure product. You don't need a to hold a Qantas Assure product for this promotion.

      • You are correct on this

What if I carried 10 phones while walking?

    • +13

      amateur.

strap the phones to a dog which is on a treadmill

      • +6

But my dog food cost more than what I eat. Input cost matters.

        • +42

          amateur.

set up a dog walking business and people pay you!

    • Only issue with that is you can only earn a max 30 points per day per QFF account :(

      • +13

what about your dogs QFF account?

        • +3

          Amateur.

I got a chameleon so I can have a QFF account per shade of colour the chameleon can change to.

  • thanks, time to tie the spare phone to the dog.

I have found playing guitar and masturbating (often at the same time) shows as steps on my Garmin. So this may well be the first time I get paid to do either. Sign me up!

    • Just don't tell us your heartbeat spikes and pulses :)

UNINSTALLED as phone not compatible /outdated

Which phones are compatible with the Qantas Assure App?

    iPhone users

If you have an iPhone 5s and above or the iPod Touch 5th gen and above, you can track your steps using the iPhone or iPod via Apple’s Health App. These devices come with software that take in sensor data from the accelerometers, gyroscopes, and compasses built into your phone. The co-processor then calculates your step count so a wearable is not needed (but can still be used!). To ensure that your steps are being tracked, you will need to carry your iPhone while stepping or running

  • Just installed the app and you can earn a few more points if you challenge friends… well the top 3 do, so looking for 2 friends haha

Who wants to be my friend? Lol

    • Depends, are you hot? Long hair?

    • Geez, long time lurker. Decided to create an account just to reply to this.
I'm on the same boat, nobody I know what's the app. I can message you an Invite!
Edit* I can't start a private conversation on new account. Makes sense…

    • +1

I have no friends in the app, so I come first in all the challenges and still get the (locked) points.

      • I see they've updated this. My comment was based on my experience with the app several months ago.

  • +2

This promo is good for newbies who haven't used the app before. After 30 days you'll get any extra points earned credited to your account as well as the points earned during this promo. After the trial period any points earned are locked until you sign up with a Qantas Assure product.

  • This go hand in hand with pokemon go

  • Yawn…

  • What are Instant Scan & Wins? How about Travel Teleporters?

Also noob question but you have to be a Qantas FF member do you? And how long does that take?

    • There are some locations in Sydney and Melbourne where you can scan a QR code and I guess win more points. I'm hoping someone can share the QR codes on here.

      • +2

I should be able to get the Chatswood one at least :)

        • Have you been able to get to Chatswood today mate? If you could possibly upload a pic of code, that'd be sweet! ;)
Either way, thanks for trying! (for us too!)

        • @themonty: Oh shoot was that today??? Nah haven't been able to get to Chatswood today..
Sorry all let the team down :(

        • @pennypincher98:

All good mate, let's hope/ see if someone else might've ;)

        • +1

@themonty: Might be able to get to the Circular Quay one tomorrow, no promises but its a possibility :)
Yeah lets hope someone else went!

        • Hey, did you happen to get the one at Circular Quay in the end, if yes how many points did it give you mate?
If not, no worries- hoping novousp (below) is able to get us the ones in Melbourne today and/or tomorrow so we can finally give it a go!

      • Any idea where these locations are?

  • +3

Does it count the steps spent walking onboard a flight to locate an attendant to get a drink?

  • +3

This would be great if it worked, can't register my fit bit, seems most other people are having the same problem.

    • Same issue here.
Redirects to a fitbit screen then crashes back to the Assure app

    • Cant select to use Google fit too

    • I was able to get the fitbit to link after linking my google account. Not sure which account it then gets the steps from. My fitbit is currently re-charging.

  • Same here

  • +2

I already had an assure product which I have cancelled, so now my points from the app will be locked until I get another assure product :(

  • +1

Aren't those "locked" points completely useless unless you intend to spend money on their overpriced insurance products?

    • yes

  • Is this deal only for people that haven't signed up to Qantas Assure?

    • I’m not sure if this promotion is in addition to or replaces the existing qantas assure points scheme for this month, but the promotion is open to everyone.

      • Yeah I get the impression it's for members that haven't downloaded the Qantas Assure app.

        • Its a bit ambigous to me too

I installed it and it said youve already indtalled it before earn up tp 3000 locked points. So i guess im excluded

  • anyone want to do the friend challenge thing with me lol

  • So you must have a Fitbit to participate in this??

    That's me out.

    • +1

Or you can carry your phone with you to track steps - at least you can with an iPhone I believe.

    • +1

If you have an iPhone 5s or newer, or an Android phone with a built in pedometer, you can make the app sync with the step count data on your phone. Just make sure your phone is on you as much as you can for maximum steps!

  • I can't for the life of me get it to sync with my Fitbit…keeps asking for me to allow it to access the data, but just keeps going back to the same screen. Anyone else with that problem?

  • Had the app before, so only earning locked points for daily and weekly challenges.
Just completed the 8,000 for the 30 points promo, I think the 30 points are unlocked from how it shows in the history. The test Will be if they post to my QFF accounts after 2 weeks…

  • If anyone happens to be have a QR code pic from Chatswood Centre Mall today and can upload, please do.
Otherwise/And if anyone else could do the same over the next few days, would be awesome:

    19 Oct 2017 (Instant scan & win)
First Fleet Park, Circular Quay, Sydney

    21 Oct 2017 (Instant scan & win)
    Centenary Square, Paramatta, Sydney

    26 Oct 2017 (Instant scan & win)
    Southbank Spillway, Melbourne, Melbourne

    27 Oct 2017 (Travel Teleporter)
Federation Square (St Pauls Court), Melbourne

    Big thanks folks!!

    • Would love too, living regionally.

      • interesting, scanned code today and it didn't work. maybe it's just one 1000 per account for all period. Can send a code to you to test it if you give me contact details where to send

        • Hi, couldn't pm you. Can you pm me? Thank you.

        • +1

@lilkid28: yeah, it was some setting, changed it now and sent you message

    • +3

remind me on 26th and 27th as I'll try to do this in Melbourne. Don't have anything in Sydney, though :(

      • +3

G'day mate! Friendly reminder on behalf of us all :)

        • +1

should be here in couple of hours! :)

        • +1

bad news, folks. First, they are there not for the full day, but just till 4 pm. My partner came there 15 mins later and they were all packed to go. There is the second bad news, all QR codes are unique and she managed to get only two for me and her, and once it's activated, it looks like you can't use it the second time!

Will try to get more of them tomorrow as I will be there in the morning.

P.S.: Get 1000 points for this code, so really nice one, but that's a shame they didn't say anything about time or rules of activation.

        • @Novousp: Awesome thanks mate! Looking forward!

        • +2

@themonty: PM me your mail/phone and I will send you picture with the barcode. have a few spare today!

        • +1

          @themonty: actually, don't need mail/phone - just PM me :)

        • @Novousp:
Hey mate, I can't message you - I'm getting an overseas user error, no idea why.
If you could kindly ping me, hopefully that works! Thank you in advance mate, much appreciate the thought!

        • +2

don't go overseas! :) sent PM, can you check?

        • @Novousp:
😆 Gotta keep earning these points mate!

  • +5

Just for all - you can have some points if you scan this code - https://expirebox.com/download/28f9d65c10239fc9f486b5b2d7b1e… (qantas mentioned 150 points, but I got just 50, so not sure).

I also have just a few 1000-points codes, can share it with PM

    • PM'd

    • +1

      This worked, cheers!

      Sneaky Qantas :P

  • I just received a notification that I can still earn up to 1500 points in the app in the next 21 days without an Assure membership. Also, I can continue using the app without purchasing Assure and earn points at a reduced rate.
