930

Was looking at iphone X deals. And Optus had the best deal for $149 for 256GB handset, with 200GB data, unlimited calls, text, unlimited international for selected countries and roaming data 1.5gb.

If you are a uni student. You can get 10% uni discount, which comes to $134.10 per month.

Currently available to back order online. Was at shopping centre and can do pre order at store as well now.

    • Bahahahaha you actually bothered mentioning SD streaming while also acknowledging 4K 😂

  • Does anyone know if student promo code can be redeemed in store? I missed out the pre-ordering and don't want to backorder, so I want to line up at the store on launch day.

    • I asked about student discount in store last week and was told it's an online only discount.

Expect to see over $2000 phones next year. 513gb. Probably wireless headphones included.

    • I would not at all be surprised… At >AU$1800 for the 256gb I think Apple have tested the limits of what any fool would pay and I expect it to be harder next year when budget models and last year models like the SG8/+/Note are going for <500 second hand.

  • Spoke to a rep at Optus store today. No idea when back orders will be fulfilled.

He spoke with Vodafone guys next door and apparently, they are taking orders with phone ETA of January.

Sounds like it's probably best not to be in the back order ship

  • Well let's admit it it's an overpriced price of metal that the sheep will pay anything even if it was quadruple the price, enough said. Look at the Asian market that proves everything.

  • Can someone explain the whole leasing a phone from Optus thing? I have normally just bought the phone outright.

Do I have to return the phone at the end of 24 months? How does this all work?
    Thanks!

If you are looking at keeping the handset, then go for the standard own option.

If you are looking at changing the handset every year and return the phone back, then go for the leasing plan. Only difference is certain leasing plans has more data and less monthly rental.

However this plan $149 your better off going for the own the phone option and you can also upgrade by paying $99 after 12 months by either returning handset or pay market remaining handset repayments and keep it.

Cheers for the deal. This is perfect for the missus and I as the only internet we can get at home is Satellite or mobile. Was planning on getting her the phone anyway so signed up for 2 :D

        25Mb. Better than most people’s NBN ;)

If I wasn’t locked into a 24month contract I would replace my home internet and tell the nbnyo get stuffed.

    • nbnCo fear this. the broadband $7.50 tax exempts mobile (for now) but they want to add it believe me

  • I'm tempted to get this plan & bundle it with a data only plan to replace my Vivid wireless (& to get a new phone) internet plan.

Does anyone know if you can unlock the Vivid Huawei B315s modems? I've asked two different Vivid Wireless consultants and they said the firmware is locked and the modem cannot be unlocked. Wouldn't it simply be a case of replacing the firmware with something that enables me to use a different sim, or is a bit more complicated than that? Even though Vivid are now part of Optus, both Vivid & Optus said an Optus sim would not work in the Huawei B315s (sorry if qs is off topic).

    • A google search says no, even though VW uses OPTUS.
