        fixed now thanks

the promos should stack, so if you're targeted this means you'll get free 5 + 3 listings.

    • Thanks so much.

Is it possible to list an item for $1,000, use another account to purchase using the 10% off coupon, then cashing out a profit of $100 minus Paypal fees?

    • Yes it is - but if they find out you'd be banned, possibly worse?

    • +1

Use your own account to sell, use friends's account to buy and ship to friend's address. I don't see why not lol but is it worth the trouble?

      • $500 profit is the max you can do it for. Could be worth the trouble for some.

I'm pretty sure that's fraud… not worth it dude.

      • True… What if you were already going to buy something off a mate, but now you're incentivised to use eBay as a medium?

In NSW, s192E(1) of the Crimes Act provides:

          (1) A person who, by any deception, dishonestly:
          (a) obtains property belonging to another, or
          (b) obtains any financial advantage or causes any financial disadvantage,
is guilty of the offence of fraud.

It all comes down to whether a court might find that you acted dishonestly and whether you deceived the ebay (or their computers/servers) into thinking that you are an independent third party transacting at arms length (or conspired with another to do so).

It also depends on how interested you are in some free meals and board provided by the relevant state government - heck, you might even want to post that as a bargain. ;-)

        • @newdad:

Nobody is going to get charged. Do you expect all 1000+ YouFoodz orderes using the voucher to be charged too? No, of course not.. same here

        • EBay could close your account. Paypal could freeze your funds. Could go beyond a mild inconvenience to something troublesome.

        • @hell0: i agree, probably not, but it could depend on the amount and how much effort person had gone to. The police wouldn't normally bother laying charges if someone stole a chuppah chup, but they could for a few hundred dollars if it was obvious that someone had been deliberately deceptive.
Hopefully, for most of us, the question of whether it is moral or ethical, regardless of whether charges could come into it, would stop people from abusing the system.

    • why use 10% coupon, wait for 15%. or the ever elusive 20%

    • Take it easy peeps. It was an innocent question out of curiosity. Being OzBargainers, I'm sure most of you have thought of something similar before.

      • It would seem like a natural 'win', right?
But newsflash - it's because you are are a bit dodgy.
Honest people wouldn't considered this for a second.

        • But newsflash - it's because you are are a bit dodgy.

Buddy, I posted my comment as a discussion point because it was intriguing. No need to get personal.

I wish I could live in your innocent world where there are distinct "honest" and "dodgy" people.

        • @aaronbaron:
Yes, there there is a distinct moral line between honest and dodgy actions. Consciously setting up a fake sale to steal money from a company is dodgy. It is called fraud. The distinction between honest and dishonest might seem a bit blurry if you are…a bit dodgy.
You have shown us which side you fall on.

        • @King Tightarse: again mate, ease off the personal attack to a stranger

    • Or list an item for $1,000,000, use cashrewards, pay with cash/bank deposit, pocket $10,000.

      • Haha, now we're talking!
