I've heard that you get what you pay for with wetting agents. I was going to get the Baileys 10L Grosorb Wetting Agent as it should be the best and is buy one get one free. Our soils in WA are generally hydrophobic so it should save water and improve the lawn/garden

Spot on. The Baileys Grosorb is excellent. My garden (at the time I purchased my house) was just a square patch of lawn with a garden bed around it. Everything except the lawn died in the first summer so I dug it all up (including the lawn) and put the grosorb in. Put some mulch down after planting all natives with a few fruit trees interspersed to take advantage of the bees that the flowers draw in and I haven't looked back.

I don't even need to buy mulch anymore. The annual lop of the natives provides me with more than enough.

  • which mulch is better? the description for both are similar

    • The hardwood mulch looks good where the pinebark mulch does not. If you want a fancy looking mulched area then go with the hardwood but if you're more concerned with value for money and less with looks then the pinebark is the way to go. Make sure you get some dolomite lime because mulch tends to make soils quite acidic once it starts breaking down.
