$200 Cashback for Suncorp Life or Income Protection Insurance after 60 Days (Approx $10/Month)

201

Suncorp Insurance are offering $200 cashback into your bank account after you hold the policy for 60 days. My life insurance quote came out at about $10/month but YMMV. You could potentially cancel before the third month for approx $180 profit. Or hold onto it for the third month to make sure you get the cashback.

  • So do you have to set up a bank account with them to receive the cashback?

    • +3

      I don't believe so

19 EFT Cashback will only be made into an Australian bank account.

  • Have you submitted the quote and proceeded with the application/

Seems to be a free $~180. Does anyone know if there is some sort of registrar that tells insurance companies that you've been a customer before?

Ive always worried that if I ever wanted health insurancr in the future, when I go to sign up it will increase the price because I only had it for 2 months.

I will probably sign up later today.

T&C feels targeted at OZBargain :)

"Should there be multiple cancellations after the 60 day period of the Eligible Products, then the Promoter has the right to refuse the $200 Cashback offer."

    • +1

      what does multiple cancellations mean?
You only need to cancel it once, don't you?

    • -5

So if just two people cancelled after 60 days, regardless of money chasing or not, they're reserving the right to KO the promotion.

That's a bit of poor form.

I believe that clause is referring to people who take up more than one policy or a family policy. If everyone in the family policy cancels then no one will receive the cashback. The clause in it's entirety:

        e. Limit of one (1) $200 Cashback will be applied per Eligible Customer who purchases a new Eligible Product. For the avoidance of doubt, if an Eligible Customer purchases two Eligible Products they will only be granted one (1) $200 Cash Back for the first Eligible Product purchased. Furthermore, where the Eligible Product policy is a couples or family policy and the Eligible Product has two (2) or more policy holders, the policy holder who is recorded as establishing the Eligible Product will be awarded the $200 Cashback ('Recipient'). If there are two (2) or more policy holders recorded as establishing the insurance policy, the first policy holder named on the Eligible Products policy schedule will be awarded the $200 Cashback ('Recipient'). Should there be multiple cancellations after the 60 day period of the Eligible Products, then the Promoter has the right to refuse the $200 Cashback offer.

    • Plus this clause:

The Promoter (subject to State and Territory legislation) reserves the right to amend, cancel or suspend this Offer if an event beyond the control of the Promoter corrupts or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Offer.

I personally won't be taking up this deal. Too great a chance of not getting the cashback

Also don't forget Income Protection premiums should be tax deductible

  • Probably worth attempting if you can get the monthly fee at $10 per month.

  • I think you must pay via bank..

    1. To receive an EFT Cashback, the Suncorp Life Protect or Income Protection Insurance policy holder is required to enter Your Australian bank account name, Bank-State-Branch (BSB) code and account number.
    • Or maybe just enter your bank details when "with further correspondence to be sent after 60 days to confirm the redemption arrangements."
I wonder what this means "EFT $200 redemption code valid for 11 months".
I paid by bank just to be sure. It looks like we will know more in 60 days.

    • It means they require you provide your bank account information to transfer the cashback, does not mean the premium should be paid by direct debit

  • "The person to be insured must be between 18 and 60 years to apply for this product. Please contact us for more information on our products."

    • Age discrimination …

  • Is look like the free money this ones

Just have an age drop! Insurance will be void but $170 profit!

  • This is a loosely disguised Recruitment Campaign. If you try to screw them out of 💰 you get hired.

Got one life protect cover $100000, monthly fee $11.71, see how it goes. As Suncorp is so big, I believed they would honor this cashback.

  • Anybody gotten a confirmation email yet?

    • Yes I received it on the same day as the application. Titled "Suncorp Policy Confirmation"

    • +1

I still haven't gotten a confirmation email for the policy itself but got an email this morning titled "Letting you know about your $200 cashback"

      • +1

Yes I just received that today too. 4 days after the original application and email. The first email had a PDS and Financial Services Guide attached.

        • Yep that's what I meant the cash back confirmation. Good to hear. How much you guys paying a month? Was about 17$ for me I think the 10$ was only for women?

        • @joungs: $11.70 Insured my grown up son, but hope not to collect on it.

        • Today I also received the paperwork via snailmail.

  • Got confirmation email today, so far so good

  • The link does not offer the $200 anymore. Anyone manage to get a screen shot or prove about this $200 offer? Apply two days ago and haven't yet received any confirmation anything.

  • Serves me right for procrastinating. Missed out :/

    • Okay wait, I lied. I just got a confirmation email for the cashback but I don't recall taking up a policy. I'm a bit freaked out.

  • Anyone successfully gotten their cashback yet?

    • Still waiting here

    • Yeah got my email a few days ago and it asked me to enter my bank details

      • Ditto received 26/12/17

        • Oh nice cancelled your policy yet? Haven't gotten my email yet and took out policy on 26/10

        • @joungs: It is on my 'to do' list as soon as the cash hits the bank. Notification says "Within 7 days". My start date was 23/10. Notified 26 or 27/12.

        • @joungs: joined same date but no cashback email yet, how about you

        • +1

          @baron33:
Nup haven't gotten it yet, hopefully just cos it's been Xmas/Nye and we get it by end of week

  • dated joined 25/10/17. dated cancelled 27/12/17. no email received. time for new year worry wasted ~$25 or effort if no cashback

    • +1

      Why cancel before getting cashback?

      • yes. careless. called up suncorp how they read their 60 days is back dated to 25th is when payment made and system read actually cancel. so I held 59 days. its stupid but now can only piss with loss of $25, time and effort

not sure now if worth a challenge on this to get cashback…

  • Entered my bank details into their payment portal the other day. I'll cancel once the funds come across.

    • Can you cancel on website or do you have to call them?

      • Haven't cancelled yet as haven't received the money yet. But i'll most likely email an attached signed document or post it in as many insurance providers need it in writing I think.

        • just received. Will cancel it tomorrow.

  • Cash now in the bank. Writing a cancellation letter now.

    • I signed up on October 27 and I called them up and it apparently is 60 business days from when you signed up that they send the email.

      • I applied on 23 Oct.

        • I received the email today.

I got a surprise follow up from Suncorp senior advisor that my $200 is valid after called up Suncorp the other day the call centre operator mention I am ineligible. She have investigated this matter why I did not received the cashback email and then after a week provided me a code with a link to claim the cashback again.

So if you are the same boat did not received the email hopefully you can try call them up and escalated the issue to senior rather than those no-idea juniors claiming you are not eligible

Thanks suncorp for a professional follow up and cashback!
