Up to 39% off Appliances @ Appliances Online

Hi all, this is the Appliances Online birthday sale for 2017.

Appliances across our site are on sale, with some big discounts off our previous prices in every category.

I have listed a few examples of appliances with big savings below, but please feel free to share your own!

FAQ
How come the price for product X was much lower a few weeks or months ago?

A: We haven't pumped up prices beforehand. Our pricing is done through an automated and dynamic pricing system. Prices can go up and down on a daily basis however during a sale period, the system locks prices so that they can only go down, not up!

C'mon, aren't you one of the retailers that is on sale every week?

A: Appliances Online is only on sale three times a year: at Boxing Day, EOFYS and this birthday sale. The only time you'll see any cheaper prices on our site is when our pricing algorithm stuffs up or there's an eBay store sale. We don't do TV, radio or print advertising, so you'll only see this sale advertised online or through word of mouth.

Your prices are still not that cheap during this sale!

A: We're sorry. We do also offer free delivery and free removal of your old appliances in metro areas, so just type in your postcode to see if you are eligible for free delivery.

How do I know if appliance "X" is the right appliance for me?

A: We offer 24/7, locally based customer support on 1300 000 500, so please call if you need more information or have any questions about a particular appliance. None of our team are commissioned so we are unbiased when we try to find you the most suitable appliance!

I've got more questions, can you help?

A: I'll be checking on this thread throughout the sale, but as above, for an immediate answer, please call our customer support team on 1300 000 500

Also love it when a store advertises a discount of "UP TO 45% off" but don't actually list even one item with 45% discount!

Here are a few of the appliances with over 45% off RRP:

This sale will end on October 31st (sp00ky!), happy hunting for bargains!

edit: Added "last known price" to the examples to clarify that the percentage discount is off last known price and not necessarily the RRP. This is to distinguish them from the title of the deal which refers to the landing page stating "Up to 45% off RRP"

edit 2: Added some appliances with more than 45% off RRP

How come you haven't listed any 45% off stuff? Is it basically overpriced HDMI cables and accessories?

    • +3

Is it basically overpriced HDMI cables and accessories?

Absolutely not! There are plenty of good, well reviewed appliances that are 45% off the RRP on the site.

I should clarify. The big banner on our site and also the title of the OP is up to 45% off RRP while those examples I posted are the % off the last known price. Sometimes that means the same thing (i.e. the last known price WAS the RRP price), but some brands and appliances are already priced below RRP before the sale.

For example, the Teka THPD70 7kg Heat Pump Dryer has a RRP of $1,499, but last known price on our site was $1,306, while the sale price is $949 (27% off last known price, 37% off RRP).

      Hope that helps.

      • +3

In the spirit of clarity, you really should say that in the title "Up to 45% off RRP", OR state the actual highest XX% off YOUR last known price.

        • +1

I don't think that works, especially considering that most stores have different sales that start and end on a weekly basis. Consider a 3 week period:

          1. Scenario 1: Sold at RRP price, then 15% off RRP sale, immediately followed by 25% off RRP sale.
          2. Scenario 2: 15% off RRP sale, followed by RRP, followed 20% off sale.

Following your guidelines, the last sale in scenario 1 must be advertised as 12% off and the last sale in scenario 2 must be advertised as 20% off. But the first sale is 5% cheaper. How would a customer who isn't closely following the prices for that store know that scenario 1 was the better sale?

I'm comfortable with industry practice where the % off must be relative to a price that the product has recently been sold for but not necessarily the most recent price. It gives a better idea of the relative cheapness of the product.

        • I'm not really sure I understand your objections.

The OP originally advertised 45% off. So using his own words on the previous comment, wouldn't it make sense to state that, that is off RRP and not their Everyday price. Again, using the OP's own words (27% off last known price, 37% off RRP).

So I didn't make anything up.

If I advertised a rug at 80% off, would that be RRP, or their everyday price? HUGE difference.

And given that the OP has changed the % saving, that suggests that they never sell at RRP, hence the 45% is an irrelevant number, and he agreed with me 😁

      • +40

Nobody here cares about Up to 45% off Fake RRP.
Change the title to something like -
Bday Sale, Insert Best Bargains Here @ Appliance Online + More

$935 on non birthday sale at another store like yours.

Bad example to try and give when it is not even the cheapest out there.

      • I think discount from last known price is good as RRP normally looks like quite an unreasonable price.
But for this example (Teka THPD70), either you are incorrect / your website has higher price than your ebay listing / maybe the price just went to RRP again before being discounted (hence become the last known price).
Because the last sold price on ebay is $960, and $950 before that, which is just $1 more expensive than this Birthday sale.

    Hi OP. I'm pretty keen on the below 2 TV's;

    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/tcl-55x2us-55-inch-139cm…

Is there anything you can do in terms of further discounts or bonuses that you can throw in?

FYI: Your friendly competition is also doing free shipping. But seeing as you're an Ozbargain family member, I'd prefer to give you my business where possible ;)

    www.appliancesonline.com.au/breville-bci600-ice-cream-maker/

Has not changed in price at all since last week.. make it 200 and you can have my cash :P if not I'll keep my money ROFL.

  • Any deals on bread makers? Looking to buy one

  • +5

From my experience , TGG is offering the best lowest prices. Example: Samsung SRF719DLS Fridge bought it for $2515 plus $300 cashback but still AO is having higher price.

    • +1

+1 to this. Was looking at a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher (DD60DCX9), and TGG were cheaper than AO.

  • Will there be any eBay sale also ?

    • Not in the near future for Appliances Online eBay store unfortunately.
As for a sitewide eBay sale, they'll usually have one for Boxing Day IIRC.

  • Hi OP do you (or others) have recommendations for a decent portable aircon? Old apartment rental life gets just a bit warm on a few summer nights.

    • Kogan portable air con has some decent reviews

      • Thanks. Price + delivery not quite low enough to tempt me to bite the bullet

        • +1

          same here :)

  • Looking for a side by side or French door fridge with water/ice dispenser, any deals on these?

  • +7

I do not know why you have to put "LAST KNOWN PRICE" when I check your website for all the items listed, your "LAST KNOWN PRICE" is exactly the same discount as off the RRP??? eg. Bosch KAD92AI20A 633L Serie 6 Side by Side Fridge Save $1,374(30%) off RRP of $4,599

    Marketing scam this is.

Also love it when a store advertises a discount of "UP TO 45% off" but don't actually list even one item with 45% discount!

    • +6

      Two reasons.

      1) I did not want to mislead the OzB community by posting the RRP price, so I posted the last known price. Yes, some appliances were exactly the same as RRP, but not all are.
      2) Our prices can change each day. So tomorrow the prices on some of the appliances may drop, hence last known price.

It's shame that you feel this is a marketing scam.

edit: I have edited OP with some appliances that are over 45% off RRP

  • +4

Doesn't matter how many % they are on SALE. Always check price before get it.

  • Any recommendation for a freestanding oven (60cm) ?

    • We're happy with our smeg dual fuel. Can use bottled gas for cooktop only if you don't have mains gas. Was about $1200 from Harvey Norman - FS61XNG8

Not sure if on sale anywhere at the moment

  • +7

I think they are fair putting "LAST KNOWN PRICE". Most of the shops would have 90% off RRP, prices for which they have never sold for.

I have a washing machine and a dishwasher from Appliances Online. No problem so far, both genuine and new. They installed the washing machine and took the old one, great service there.

On the other hand, they let the dishwasher in the garden, and I had to do all the installation. Not really great on this one.

How do deals like this even get up voted. Been looking for a deal on this for awhile

    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/samsung-ww11k8412ow-11kg…

That’s supposed to be discounted however this

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-11kg-front-load-washe…

Has 10% further and $150 store credit on a standard day lol what a joke.

    • +7

It's a Samsung so probably a fire sale.

Not the same washer but it doesn't give you a peace of mind on their washers.

    • Always compare before buying…

      • cheers everyone yeah im yet to commit but the range for the large front loaders isnt too large so hopefully i snap up a decent deal

  • +12

I'd hate to be the rep having to respond on these forums.

    • +6

They don't have to post deals on here.

      • +14

OzBargain is going to OzBargain - it's a double-edged sword.

This community is one of the most savvy online, so of course we're going to take a beating when certain prices aren't as competitive as you'd like.
We'd still rather participate here than not participate as this is a genuine sale for us.

        • +3

This community is one of the most savvy online.

So why bother mentioning RRP or % off last known price?
You know we are going to check elsewhere, so it's pointless sales speak.

        • +1

@WatchNerd: Sometimes people will pay 10% more for service. Back when I was a student, yes, every $1 mattered to me. Now with work and family life, I would pay 20% more for the convenience and the guarantee no one is going to stuff it up.

I've personally purchased well over $10k worth of goods from AO in the past 2 years.

        • @Gallifr3y:

I never mentioned anything in regards to what you're talking about.
I'm aware of AO reputation for service and prompt delivery.

  • +1

    Any deals for air conditioners?

    • +5

I'd help you but just like you I'm too lazy

      • +4

In hindsight, it's probably quicker for me to look up the deals myself then reply to this comment…

        • I like the cut of your jib.

  • +5

Thanks and I bought a Bosch washing machine from you guys a few years ago.

However I needed a dishwasher last week and liked the Bosch SMS66MW01A but you were so far over the Good Guys price I didn't bother asking.

    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/bosch-sms66mw01a-serie4-…
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/335640

Today you're still at $1063 vs GG last week $905.

    Just saying.

  • +6

You can’t call a sale a sale with prices discounted and still priced over other competitors prices significantly!

    • agreed!

      but do you have proof?

      • yes see my other post. I dont mind if I see a few items highlighted in seperated deals but to advertise the whole site as a packaged deal is not right.

        • +2

I disagree. There seems to be enough bargains that writing an inclusion list (as you've suggested) rather than exclusion list is not practical in this instance.

It's up to the buyer to double check. If it's not cheaper at AO, don't buy.

Theres ALWAYS examples where a seller isn't cheapest. Happens EVERY sale. And there's actually reasons for it if you read the reps response below. These examples aren't reason enough to hate on a seller

  • +2

Rep: Genuine curiosity here - being your customers in the past when price was competitive and love the experience with your merchant.

Being online only merchant, you don't have to carry the cost of brick & mortal renting & related cost.

However, seeing your price doesn't reflect that advantage edge, given that TGG has even the lower price on your item - every day, that makes me wonder if you are A or B (not necessary exclusive).

    A) TGG and other merchants are selling at break-even or taking lost to push business like AppliancesOnline out.

    B) You simply cannot sell at the price point TGG is selling - that doesn't cover your cost (this means TGG is making lost though - given they have most cost to bear).

    • They do have a brick & mortar store, it's just not called Appliances Online :D

      • We sure do!
Though Winning Appliances is run as a separate entity.

One step into their stores should tell you that they cater more to a different type of customer (usually people doing full kitchen renos) than our average Appliances Online customer (usually someone who needs to replace or upgrade an appliance as soon as possible)

    • +6

that makes me wonder if you are A or B (not necessary exclusive).

      A) TGG and other merchants are selling at break-even or taking lost to push business like AppliancesOnline out.

      B) You simply cannot sell at the price point TGG is selling - that doesn't cover your cost (this means TGG is making lost though - given they have most cost to bear).

Mostly B, in general, retailers like TGG+JB and Harvey Norman will get much better prices on a lot of the appliances they buy simply because they have a much bigger footprint.
They order more, they get better bulk discounts and also being a bigger part of the market they can exert more pressure on the suppliers to get even better prices.

      That's generalizing it a bit.

One of our goals is to not have a 'race-to-the-bottom' mentality of the cheapest possible price (how do you compete on price with the behemoths?) and make it up by:

      • being fairly competitive on price (as you can see, we're not always the cheapest, even when we are on sale and competitors are not)
      • having the best-in-class customer service

So we differentiate through our customer service, having our own warehouses, hiring and training our own delivery people (rather than getting contractors to deliver stuff), making the customer support team available 24/7, removing your old appliances where possible, that type of stuff.

      • +6

Have never bought from you but only read good reviews about your service. I agree with what you are saying, personally I would be willing to pay a bit more especially if something like a fridge was delivered to my elderly mum knowing the delivery person would take care, be polite and make sure she was happy etc. I think OzBargain is very price focused though so this is a tough crowd.

        • +4

Having both worked for AppliancesOnline and being their customer (yes including buying a fridge for my mum and having it delivered and installed at her place and the old one removed) I can tell you that the rep's response is pretty accurate, especially their inhouse customer service team that operate 24x7 which is a cost to the business in itself, but is a point of difference. The delivery and removal process is a blessing for the elderly as well, and for people like me who cant take a day off to take a fridge to the tip because the next council run is 5 months away. I've also seen and called their customer service, the information they provide is accurate and fairly unbiased, and they do a good job in trying to get you the best product and price. The Winning Appliance stores are, like the rep said, for a different crowd altogether, you'll understand when you step inside one of those stores. Its mainly the free delivery and removal of older items that I go to AO as much as possible, even if it means Im paying $50 more than competitors (which was the case with a recent fridge purchase, but the convenience was worth it).

        • +1

I can vouch for their service, bought a TV, home theatre and fridge from them in the past and it was delivered quickly without issue.

        • @Trishool: tgg charge 50 or 60 to deliver so pretty on point.

        • @Slippery Fish:

@Trishool: tgg charge 50 or 60 to deliver so pretty on point.

And that's for basic delivery which is dropped off and maybe your old fridge moved outside. If you want the full service you have to pay extra for it.

      • +3

Have bought a number of things from AO over the years and the service experience has always been exceptional. Recently purchased a new fridge - next day delivery, accurate communication about delivery timeframe, friendly, careful delivery staff etc. Could not fault the experience. Definitely worth a few extra $.

      • +1

Thanks for your response. This makes sense with bigger players have more power to negotiate price.

From my experience, if I come into store to check out a particular white good and found out somewhere else cheaper online, I'll buy from the online store.

However, if the store has the lowest price, there is little to none incentive for me to order online rather than just buy it right there and then.

I totally agree and appreciate the not-race-to-the-bottom because that's not how it should work.

If you have the lowest price, but 50% of your customers post negative reviews, I surely wouldn't touch your merchant.

I just wish there is a way that your merchant can be more competitive prise-wise (so I can support your business) as my experience purchasing from you guys was very positive - there is no single thing I could fault for that purchase (website, transaction, communication, delivery, setup, etc.).

I don't need to buy any thing in particular at the moment, just though I could give some feedback :)

      • You use a removal company to shift goods up the east coast, that sorta contracting delivers. That said they are very timely and do a great job :)

  • Is the Panasonic NN-ST776SQPQ 44L listed any good or cheap?
    https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/panasonic-nn-st776sqpq-4…

I have no idea about microwaves, been using a $29 big W one which is annoying me because it has an analogue nob so can't set cooking time accurately.
I dont really cook with a microwave, just defrost meat, heat packs, reheat left overs etc.

    • +1

Not sure about quality, but Myer and Bing Lee may have it for cheaper during their respective 20% Ebay Sales providing they don't change their price. (pretty sure this is same model) E.g. Myer http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Inverter-Sensor-Microwave-Ove… $248.96 with free delivery if my math is correct.

      • +1

cheers I held off until I have time to actually research what type of microwave I need/want.

  • $2 off Cuisinart Perfect Temp Kettle 1.7l. Previously $169, now $167. Still cheaper to buy from yourhomedepot.

  • I usually find appliancesonline to be more expensive than most brick and mortar stores.

I ordered a westinghouse dishwasher from them a few months ago. Arrived with a huge dent in the front of it. Door would no longer shut. Had them replace it - replacement came with a huge dent in the same area. Delivery guys reckoned the pallet of them must have been hit with a forklift.

Needless to say I got a refund and promptly bought from harvey norman, $40 less and no damage. Haven't bothered with AO since - a shame as their service & website functionality is really good.

  • +1

Doesn't matter who is cheaper. Use the best price from GG and AO (including benefits of free shipping and cashbacks) as leverage for an even better price at HN. All done over the phone.

  • +2

Appliances Online used to be great. A few years ago I have bought a large amount of appliances from them.

They even helped me out getting a last minute order to me which was above and beyond what I'd expect from a retailer.

Then they changed their delivery system from couriers to Aus Post, I've had issues with every single delivery. Not saying it's completely AO's fault, but partially because the cost cutting, which caused the service level to drop.

For large appliances (fridges, etc) it's probably similar, but for anything that can be sent through the post I'm better off going to other retailers.

    • +4

Then they changed their delivery system from couriers to Aus Post, I've had issues with every single delivery. Not saying it's completely AO's fault, but partially because the cost cutting, which caused the service level to drop.

It's true, we currently use AusPost for small parcels while larger appliances are still done through our own delivery trucks.

We are looking at alternatives to AusPost because we are extremely dissatisfied with their performance - our Net Promoter Score for appliances delivered through AusPost is something like 55 while for our own drivers the NPS is at 80.

      • Try office works, I've got 3 parcels from them in great time this year.

  • I would use Appliances Online only after a thorough price research. I have managed to nab two good deals from AO over the past few years, however only by a coincidence when their prices were a bit lower than the competition for those two specific products. I can say their sales and delivery service were good. I never had to deal with after sales issues, so cannot comment on that. That being said, majority of my online searches show their prices are often ridiculously inflated. I mean, if their appliances are dearer than Harvey Norman and they don't even have a physical store, then there must be something really wrong with their pricing strategy - smells like scam to me.

    • +5

I mean, if their appliances are dearer than Harvey Norman and they don't even have a physical store, then there must be something really wrong with their pricing strategy - smells like scam to me.

I can speak against this assumption that online store = cheaper prices.

      1) We invest a lot into providing a good standard of service - we are one of the few retailers to own our delivery service, which means there is a lot of cost involved in running our own trucks and our delivery staff rather than subcontracting them out. Similarly, our customer support on the phones and livechat are based in Australia, and they are available 24/7 - also not cheap when we could be using offshore support.

      2) Someone like Harvey Norman can afford to place very large bulk orders with a supplier, which immediately brings down their cost of goods. We are not as big as HN, so you can assume our buy prices are not as good in general as their buy prices.

  • Very timely post. I am moving into my new apartment next week.

Looking to buy a Westinghouse fridge and Bosch washer/dryer combo through AO, and showing only a small saving compared to the prices I have been keeping an eye on over the past week or so.

Can I order now for delivery to be scheduled for the end of next week? Also, will you deliver and install the items to a first floor apartment (up one flight of stairs)? No removal of any appliances required.

    Cheers, thanks in advance.

    • +1

Can I order now for delivery to be scheduled for the end of next week?

Yes, you can schedule deliveries. Usually best to call our customer support before (or after) your purchase and they'll help you in confirming future delivery times.

Also, will you deliver and install the items to a first floor apartment (up one flight of stairs)?

Stairs are no problem for our delivery crew. We usually connect fridges and laundry appliances for you, please note that there are exceptions (e.g fridges with plumbing requirements).

      • Do you do Sat delivery?

        • +1

Yes, we do deliver on Saturdays for an additional fee in the following metro areas: Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

          Thanks
So during week day, it's free delivery, installation and removal of old fridge, correct?

        • .@tymatk:
Yes, correct on all points, but check your postcode first to make sure you are eligible for free delivery.
Free connection is available for most new microwaves, refrigerators and washing machines (to existing plumbing and electrical connections), at the time of delivery.
Most other types of appliances we will require a paid installation service.
Removal is free, but make sure you tick the box for "removal of old disconnected appliances" during the checkout process.

        • @AppliancesOnline.com.au:

Item was in the house connected ready to use in under 3 or 4 min. It was a very good experience.

These guys have got to be one of the most legit online stores I’ve dealt with - excellent prices, amazingly quick and easy delivery, solid customer service. Bought a Samsung fridge about 18 months ago - beat price I could find, delivered and installed the next day by friendly installers who really took care of the fridge and the house and sorted me out quickly with a customer service query. Good work guys!

  • Need to buy a washing machine but im overseas now until Dec 3, any chance I could get these prices when I’m back if I just mention this sale?

    • I am sure you can buy now and ask them to deliver when you are back.

  • +1

Positive experience here as well (Fridge, T.V and dishwasher). Decent delivery times and friendly delivery staff.

I think that when you're talking about big items AO wins because they unbox and take the rubbish away. That's a lot of additional work for not a lot of extra cost.

I bought a fridge from them and it never worked properly. Rather than have me chase up the warranty, their customer service did it for me and AO replaced it and dealt with the broken fridge themselves. You're not going to get that kind of service from TGG or HN

  • Asko gas cooktop HG1776AD is priced at $1599, aka RRP. sigh.

  • So i gotta say im a bit annoyed.

Im after one of these https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/electrolux-gas-cooktop-e… You guys normally have it for between $1200 and $1300 and suddenly the price is jacked up and then 44% taken off it back to normal price.

Ive brought form you guys before but this sort of thing really puts me off buying from you again.

bing lee took this model out of their ebay store for their 20% off too lol, kept the small one but not the larger version. may have to pay full price at this rate unless Appliances online rep hooks us up with a deal……. hint hint

    • Hi Bigsta,

Ive brought form you guys before but this sort of thing really puts me off buying from you again.

I would too! But I don't think we jacked up the price before and the birthday sale.
I had a look at the price history of this appliance for you and looking back from August 1st, 2017 until today, I can see that the price was never cheaper than it is now at $1,262

Major price changes for the EHG953BA:

      • August 22nd was the previous cheapest price at $1,474
      • September 6th the price went up to $1,919
      • October 4th the price went down to $1,592
      • At the start of the sale we changed the price to $1,262
  • Vacuum sale?

  • Sale…? Their idea of a sale item is the standard RRP at Harvey Norman.

    Cannot fault these guys

Excellent service from go to whoa… they had the cheapest price we could find on the fridge we bought on the weekend, then they refunded the difference between the lower birthday prices when we made a polite enquiry (for reference we were advised they will match their own price drops if they occur within 7 days of your purchase).

The delivery guys are very professional, quick and careful (an awesome combination) - this all free; unpacked (packaging taken away), positioned in place and the old behemoth taken away (this alone is between $60 to $75 extra at the competitors).

I'm not associated with Appliances Online, just a very happy customer.

  • Hey rep, your Samsung WW11K8412OW AddWash™ 11kg Front Load Washing Machine is $1,524.

TGG's ebay site has it for $1195 C&C or $50 delivered. Right now ebay has a 10% off sitewide code making it even cheaper.

Since you have a lowest price guarantee, could you price match TGG and have it reflected on your ebay store?

  • Hi https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/62138 if I buy a refrigerator from your ebay shop do you provide a tax invoice with your ABN. Can i still avail the benefit for cash back ?

    • You can take it to the airport with you for TRS when you fly internationally.
