Or if people want a cheaper alternative, feel free to add this one to your post tightarse (saves multiple JB Deals):

    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/plasma-lcd-tvs/lcd%20tv/lg-42…

42" Full HD LCD television with a free 22" (thanks to LG's spring promo at: http://www.lg.com/au/springpromos/index.jsp) as well as free delivery for less than $1,000.

Are you assuming this is a bargain because it's JBHifi price? If I could tell you that you could buy it $200 cheaper, would it still be a bargain?

    • +2

Rather than critisise ' tightarse's ' post, you should at least back up you statement with the actual link to the $200 cheaper price.
Then maybe potential buyers can get another vendor like HN, CP or JB to price match.

    • Not assuming anything. Checked getprice and staticice and this seems like a genuine bargain, especially considering delivery is included. Would you care to share your link with us?

EDIT: Thanks oz-dxer, you beat me by a few seconds.

      • Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to criticize you personally, I would just like people to keep in mind that people have been buying this TV at the ridiculous price of $1500.

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1431794&p… is just a single post, but I'll let you do the reading up to it.

And what happened to bargaining? Going into a store and saying "I want that TV for $1500 CASH, RIGHT NOW!"

        • Not going to troll through 52 pages looking for a $1500 price tag. Thanks for your input.

EDIT: And maybe I don't want to walk into a store. Maybe I live in Alice Springs and I want free delivery to my door without being hassled by salemen. I'm sure there are lots of people just like this.

        • Unfortuately in this case the poster couldn't (didn't want to) back up his comment with any documents.

When i bought my 63C7000 a few months ago i used a "posted" reciept from whirlpool or dvtforum to get HN to match the price.
It was funny as they managed to drop the price about $400 from the "best we can do price" when i showed the reciept.

        • So 20 minutes of your time and research apparently isn't worth $200… I want your job!

-Regardless of what the poster uploads, it gives you an idea of what the 'best price' on these panels are. As I work in the industry, I can confirm that $1500 is cutting it thin (but possible).

So my advice, as someone who sells these bloody things, is to go into your preferred outlet, and put $1500 on the counter and ask for the PS50C7000. Won't work everytime, but the boss wants your business, and when they see cash something happens in their head.

        • i reckon u should try 1400! if they accept 1500 they'll acept lower

  • Wondering if JB would consider an OZBargain special on this LG Plasma, the 50pk550 which is currently $1296 online.

    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/plasma-lcd-tvs/plasma-tv/lg-5…

ARC Computers have it for $1155 atm, and Bing Lee were selling them for $1148 the other day when I checked.

    https://www.arc.com.au/pub.php?gid=23654&pid=39533&p=product

Would snap one up if JB could get the price down, c'mon JB.

    • You can get the PS50C550 for less than $1100 with some 'bargaining'.

    • Would snap one up if JB could get the price down, c’mon JB.

Why JB and not one of the stores who are already selling it cheaper?

      • Live in country SA, ARC are about $80 for freight, not sure if the are LG authorised dealer. Bing Lee wont ship because of weight.
JB just introduced the free freight, which is great if I can get a good price from them.

  • Cheers intertia, might have to consider the Samsung too, "PS50C550 NEW PLASMA TV FULL HD TV" found it @ $999 here.

    http://www.qq.net.au/shop/step1.php?number=1088&utm_source=g…

    Will keep looking.

    • That's so cheap, I just brought one from JB for $1100.

      • I would be happy to get one somewhere around that price, currently they are $1496 for the PS50C550G1FXXY.

        http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/plasma-lcd-tvs/plasma-tv/sams…

        • I am sure you can get one around $1100, I didn't try so hard to get this price. The sale man told me it is lower than the price they purchase from warehouse, but they can get factory debate to make profit, not sure if this is true :-)

    • Great site , however they dont seem to specify whether the actual item is new or refurbished although they mention the item supplied could be a new one or refurbished.
it look s like they have retail stores, so at least you can go and select the item if you live in Sydney.

      • Haven't heard of them before, but states new in the title though, "PS50C550 NEW PLASMA TV FULL HD TV".

    • Its a factory 2nd which means u wont even get the bonus Bluray player.

    • Includes free postage within sydney (too bad its a factory 2nd) which means u cant apply for the bonus Bluray player promotion.

  • Appears a bit cheaper here: http://www.digitalcentre.com.au/p/1111954/panasonic-th-p50vt…
I wonder if JB can do any better….
For anyone that doesn't have a descent surround sound system, seems like a pretty good buy.
Just wandering how this compares in terms of overall performance with http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/33628?destination=node/3362…
    Thanks
    Sam

  • Does anyone know the power consumption of this unit? The website says "TBD"! TBD when you get your first electricity bill!!!
