Found this in First Choice Liquor, Oxley, QLD.
The 2016 St Andrews imperial reserve Cabernet Sauvignon earned a couple of gold medals and was originally priced at $6 a bottle.
On special at 6 for $26.
Note: 2016 vintage was found in Oxley, QLD store. not sure about other stores.
I've tried both 2016 and 2017. 2017 isn't far behind.

Note that the link goes to the 2017 version on the website whereas the deal is for the 2016 which may have limited stock.

The First Choice store add in your post says 2017 vintage, not 2016. It was the 2016 vintage that won the gongs in Melbourne. It sold out pretty much instantaneously, not surprising at $6. The 2017 is reputedly nowhere near as good, although I must admit I haven't tried it. Still busy with the 2016 .. :-) .. !!

Yes, realised that. The vintage available in this store was 2016, hence i thought it was post worthy!

    • you would be very lucky to find any 2016 vintage…good luck!

      • head to oxley :-)

Seriously, for cooks and Chefs this would be a massive bargain for drinking and cooking with:) Plus for it mate!!

  • Is this any better than the $5 "half price" stuff at LL? e.g. eaglehawk.

    • I think it is better than Eaglehawk. Though if if remember Eaglehawk is a blend?

      • Blending is a good way to get cheap wine nicely balanced.
But they sell single-variety wines too. Just don't expect it all to come from the same hill-side.

  • Is the 2016 vintage really that good? How does it compare to Wynns?

    • Lol.

  • Picked up a case of the 2016 and it seems more than satisfactory. Does anyone know a good site to get opinions on some of the cheaper wines at DM and FC?
