W-shark MX3 Gyroscopic Air Mouse Backlit Keyboard (Multi-OS) $7.99 USD | $10.21 AUD @ Gearbest + GeekBuying

200

GeekBuying and Gearbest both selling at the same price. I'm not entirely clear which one is the "real slim shady" as both look like the same thing but branded differently, but they most likely come out of the same factory anyway.

It does appear to be one of the cheapest Air mice around on Gearbest's site that has a full keyboard, a full keypad and backlight with IR blaster learning mode. Functionally very similar to LG's smart TV's "air remotes", this lets you control your Windows PC, Android Box, game console and any other system that allows for the use of a mouse and keyboard using the USB HID protocol.

It also has remote learning function which means it can 'clone' the functions of any other IR-based remote and then remap the function to one of 5 keys (yes, just 5 buttons are re-programmable), handy if you want to remap your LED light strips, TV, Air cond, or any other infrared-controlled appliance and control it from just one remote.

Get that 2.8% cashback from Cashrewards with GeekBuying 😂

  • If it doesn't have reversed back button position I would have pulled the trigger.

I am getting really tired of my Sony's IR remote.

Thanks bought one for my mi box :)

  • Does this work with Samsung TV & xCruiser satellite receiver?

    • It's just a USB keyboard and mouse. So it depends if your devices supports that.

  • Aren't they all just Rii knock offs?

    • Do you know that Rii is also a knock-off ?

  • do they work with the Telstra TV?

    • It's just a USB keyboard and mouse. So it depends if your devices supports that.

  • I couldn't get the IR learning to work on mine, but everything else works great for my linux media server. I paid triple this a few months ago.

    • A lot of cheap knock-off remotes have the learning buttons, but the chip inside is a cheaper one that does not support it.

  • Thanks op. U say backlight. I presume that means the keyboard has backlit keys?

  • +1

Great remote, I use it for Kodi (have to disable the air mouse "feature" though). There are actually 5 buttons that are able to learn IR codes (Power button + 4 coloured buttons on the bottom)

    • Cheers, updated

    • Why did you have to disable the air mouse?

      • +3

Personal preference. I find it extremely annoying. I prefer to use the D-pad and other shortcut buttons.

      • Depending on what build/skin you use on KODI, but mostly using airmouse with KODI can be very frustrating because the menus move as you hover the airmouse cursor.

        • You can disable mouse in Kodi without completely disabling it for the system.

  • Geekbuying is not bad but prepare to wait more than 10 days for them to dispatch the item. I bought a Mi Max 2 from them and they didnt even dispatch it until I email them and tell them I want my money back if they dont dispatch it soon. They sent it the next day!!

    • They sent it the next day!!

Did they? Or did they just claim to have sent it. Working tracking?

      • Tracking's not working. I think it's going to take a month again.

    • When did you order? China had a national holiday last week with most websites taking a week off.

      • 1st October and item was dispatched yesterday. The last time I ordered a LeEco Le 2 also took a month to received even thought I paid for the priority delivery.

        • That would have been why. Got held up during the Chinese holiday period. Your email would have put your order first line to be sent.

  • Does this work like a Logitech Harmony hub and remote? Can I program the remote to work with multiple devices and program sequences with it? And does it work over the wifi network and/or by sending IR commands?

I have a harmony hub and remote but it is a pain to use. Often the remote does not transmit a signal to the hub when you press a button. You then get frustrated and try pushing buttons to get it to respond. Then after a period of time (as much as after minutes later) it suddenly comes back to life and transmits all of the button presses to the hub and messes things up completely.

    • no, only single IR command is accepted for these 5 buttons.

Thanks I found one on ebay for 25c cheaper :) but wouldn't have known this thing existed cept for this thread.

    • Yeah, I think I'll go with eBay because of the extra protection and the incentive for sellers to dispatch the product quicker.

There are plenty of sellers to choose from:

      https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=mx3+remote&_sop=15

For around $4 more, you can get voice input. Has anyone used this feature? Does it work well? (I tried Google, but there's not much on it for the MX3) Thanks

    • watch out, not all are backlit.

  • No Voice Control on this version though.

  • Anyone know if this works on Xbox One and Netflix ?

Want a keyboard for my searches and remote for navigation.

    • Yes. I think you are better off with a chatpad attachment though as it lets you clip it onto the Xbox controller.

Xbox doesn't support mouse. At least not right now but I think Microsoft may allow games to use mouse in the future (maybe for strategy games)

  • I have an appleTV 4, a Kodi tv box, a htpc (for playing flac), avr, amp and TV. Could this:

    1) control the appleTV? I guess not but thought I should ask.

    2) control both the kodi tv box and htpc? if so, would I put the dongle on the htpc and then just "natively" connect to the kodi box?

    3) Any chance this can also control the amp, avr and tv?

    Thanks

    • It will not control stuff that requires a proprietary controller. If your Apple TV does not accept a Usb mouse or keyboard then no.

It can control a TV if you program via infrared learning function (using only the buttons provided) but it is not meant to fully replace a TV remote. You should buy a Logitech Harmony for that as it supports many types of infrared controlled devices out of the box.

Some smart TVs do support mouse and keyboard, since many run Google Tv

This is mostly for mouse and keyboard input. Best for Windows Mac Android and Linux operating systems.

      • Thanks. If I just use this for the kodi androx box and my HTPC (win10), will it work? Do i just leave the dongle on the HTPC?

        • It will only work with one device at a time (the one with the dongle plugged in).

It's no different to plugging in a regular USB keyboard and mouse.

        • @PainToad: Thanks. I understand now.

    • as long as your TV has USB interface. You may control KODI with the air mouse mode

  • geekbuying is definately bunch of liers. False advise items missing accessories and blame customers of not reading contents.

    • you got evidence? or are you simply a 'Water Army' hired by a competitor of Geekbuying?

      • I am not hired by any one come and see me I bought an action camera advertised wireless with remote can't find remote in the box I will post everything here if you want?

      • If you are getting paid from someone let me know the trick I will follow you ERICCC

        • I am not getting paid by anyone. I don`t partial to any online shopping website. If you want to make some negative comments on any one, you have to submit some evidence to make it convincing.

      Pricks.

      • Just a FYI it's being looked into currently.

        • Thanks

        • They are just keep singing the same fraudulent song check the items in box not the title of item. you buy a car from GEEKBUYING advertised as in excellent condition and it comes without wheels.

        • @ozehunter: Thanks I'll speak to them again.

  • Air mouse thingy arrived. It's pretty good… using it is a little more difficult than expected (hard to keep a steady aim)

  • Yeah mine came yesterday as well. I'm using it with the mi box I bought from here a month ago. Abit fiddly to work out at first but seems very responsive and very useful.
