  • Google Home Support?

    • +1

      Yep :)

      • Apple Home Support?

        • I don’t believe so as I don’t think it has an Mfi chip.

        • +1

@doweyy: Edit: apparently in the next gen

          but

However, we will have to go through the entire MFi process, it's very complex and ridiculously expensive. Also, per Apple requirement, we may not allowed to connect to our cloud which is unacceptable to us.

          @muncan:

Yeah looks like a no go for a while unfortunately, might have to wait for cheap Lifx or Phillips.

@doweyy: Thanks, still love your work. +1 pity vote

        • +2

You can get it to work with Apple Home Kit if you set up Home Bridge on a computer. It's pretty easy and works perfectly when you get it going.

        • +1

          @dmac80:

Can confirm this. In fact, I successfully installed this light bulb and configured it in Homebridge just before I got the email about this light bulb deal. Hopefully my 2nd light bulb is on its way shortly!

        • @muncan: lack of cloud support seems like a positive for lose less trusting of these IOT products.

    Nice!

Bring on Google Home Mini - less than two weeks away :)

i wonder how much amazon paid for that article, the home has a touch button malfunction that makes some of them trigger the "listen for command" a whole bunch and google responded (to a well known person sure) on a friday night, had it disabled by the next morning and have decided to take any sales hit by disabling it permanently, it was hardly "secretly recording all the time" and immediately jumping to comparing to amazons offering is just sleazy

The answer is obvious.. buy a bigger house

    • Lamp it up

    • you reckon it's enough to light up a 3.3m x 2.7m room?

  • I cant get the code to work, i am logged in and getting the 'FIXED PRICE Coupon: $10.99
Code for single unit price only; VIP Price, Special Offer or Group Deal all exempt.' when i enter the code, any ideas?

    • No idea what's going on. I've been having this same problem with recent Gearbest coupons.

    • Are you trying to buy more than one?

    • Usually that means the code is working; it should show the total at the bottom as $10.99.

      • It hasn't been for me. Shows the non-discounted price all the way through the checkout process.

Is unregistered postage with GearBest worth the risk? What's delivery time/risk of being lost?

    • +1

      Paypal is your friend.

    • -2

I'm still waiting for my 2 bulbs it's been 5-6 weeks now, I've PayPal disput it already

      • The unregistered mail option is up to 35 business days. Where I went to school 35/5=7 weeks. If you'd wanted it faster, you should have chosen one of the shipping upgrade options.

        • Where did u get that information? I order from banggood also they arrived about 2 weeks ago…

        • @mikedenoob: it should have said when you were choosing your postage option. A few of the rep's recent posts also had a link to a page that explained all of their postage options for Australia.
I think it's part of the reason Gearbest can undercut it's competitors do often is it has a really slow delivery option. Personally, I usually use registered or an option called something like 'priority Australia, which usually only costs a little more and comes much faster.

  • +1

Not the cheapest it's been but at least it's not limited to one per account. Thanks

  • Trying to replace all the bulb in my house….. It is so convinent that I can just lay in bed first, then switch off the light….

Just that one point is convincing enough for me to buy them

  • +1

thanks Doweyy, excited to give this a go with the Google Home

  • Ok so I want 8 but code is only for 1 :(

    • if you really want 8, just process multiple transactions

      • Oh yeah forgot about that. But I've noticed last time they got down to $8.88 so I might give it a week.

  • GearBest is spending more time in creating these deals rather than spending time in shipping the item on time. My bulb from 7 weeks ago still hasn't been delivered. My battery charger from 3 weeks ago still hasn't been delivered (it was priority mail).

Absolutely horrified experience with these guys so far!

    • dw they hired a second person so they can do two things at once now

  • Do these work with standard dimmer switches? Not necessarily that the dimmer will dim them, more that they'll actually work ok if there's a dimmer on the circuit.

  • Also not able to get the coupon to work :( defaults to the 1 unit per percussion code :(

  • I bought one in last sale but none of the bulb holders in my house have this type of fit…Don't know what to do with it now…

  • +1

The Code you entered has expired.

  • expired…. how about re-enabling it?

  • +6

For those still keen, the gearbest rep actually gave me a code yesterday morning to get the Yeelight for a dollar more ($11.99 usd) - hopefully still works - use code kirtAU1012

    • Thanks. I used it.

    • Thanks, just tried your code, worked but looks like it is limited to one per transaction?

      • Yeah limited to one per transaction and two transactions per account - from the rep:

        "Price:AU$15.26/US$11.99

        coupon:kirtAU1012

PS:Limited to first 150 stock ,2 times per account!"

  • expired already

    • +1

Yeah they expire quite quickly, I contacted the rep about getting more stock and I'll see what she says.

  • +2

I miss out on this deal every time lol

  • +1

    My experience with these products

    1. Yeelights arrived, unimpressed, slow, hard to pair and overheat even when turned off
    2. Yeelight Strip arrives, love it, plug it in generally works easily and can be changed with in line switch.
    3. Get yeelights back out, now completely broken, contact warranty they just tell me to unpair and restart router etc, do it a bunch of times.
    4. Throw away yeelights.

    Waste of money.

  • Hello,

Can anyone recommend a cheap lamp to use with one of these globes in a home office?

    Thanks

    • I'm also looking for one; I have one of these globes being shipped atm for a Christmas present, but need to find a lamp to go with it. I looked at IKEA but all of their table/desk lamps have E14 sockets.

      • I just noticed that kmart have some cheap small lamps..

        • Same problem for me; all the bedside kind of lamps with shades use E14 globes.

  • I totally didn't need more…

    But I bought 2…

Thanks OzB, saving me money all the time! ^_^

  • +1

Adapter you'll need to use it in the ceiling http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162047731667

    • Rip. I have an MR16 light fitting for all my ceiling lights.

  • Bought one yesty but got a 2nd one today thx OP

  • Thanks OP

  • Now how about a deal on one of these https://www.gearbest.com/access-control/pp_626695.html so that i can control them all without my phone!

  • This is just a light bulb with wifi that also changes color. Is that right? What else does it do?

    • changes colour to music

    • talks to interweb

  • I have no use for this but I bought one anyway.

  • Bought 2, thanks a lot OP!

  • Thanks for the code+added pieces. 1st bulb. Most affordable smart bulb marketed.

  • anyone have a setup with some physical switches, about the only thing lacking at the moment for me, of so how did you do it?

  • Is E27 socket the norm these days in new houses? I have B22 sockets in my old house :(

  • Just ordered my first bulb. How do I connect it to Google Home?

    • +1

You need to have set the globe up via the Yeelight App on phone and selected Singapore server. Then

Home app -> Hamburger button -> Home Control -> + button -> Yeelight Actions -> Login with Mi Home account

      • Can confirm. If you don't hit the hamburger button. It wont work :)

  • Is there any issue with early burn out due to Aussie 240v and bulb is 220v?

    • No
