  • I am thinking of buying this but the tap have been taken up by the washing machine, do I need to get a plumber in to install another tap to plug this thing in? Or is there anything like a splitter for the tap?

    • +3
      • Thanks, will have a look after work today.

      • +2

Ideally you want a 2-way valve with backflow prevention. Masters used to sell them, but nothing equivalent at Bunnings.

        • You can order from a plumbing supplier like Reece

        • @Suspect420:
Unless you have an account, Reece add a stupid-high consumer surcharge. So last resort.

I say "ideally" because its extremely unlikely a clothing bug will somehow get into the dishwasher and survive, let alone make you ill.

You can turn the tap off should you need to connect/disconnect things. Using this to split the dishwasher and the sink outlet. Check the size of he thread on the connections you have though.

    • Do you have a washing machine in your kitchen? Or putting a dishwasher in the laundry.

A true OzBargainer would just wash the dishes with their clothes.

      • A true OzBargainer would lick the plate clean eliminating the need to wash dishes.

  • Great price. Thanks for sharing

  • Not sure how it compares to model from previous Bosch GoodGuys deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/322072), but my wife and I are very happy with ours from that deal. Very quiet and only needs to run on quick 30min cycle. Given our experience I would recommend Bosch dishwashers!

    • Make sure you run at longer washes sometimes, read it's not good to only do short washes ( need temp and time to keep insides, seals and pipes clean. )

      • Thanks for the tip, will do!

        • my Dads got the same and I notice he was doing short washes as well.

just do a normal wash once a day, put it on at the end of the night.

      • +1

Yeah, this. Check the manual for your specifc model, but our bosch dishwasher uses less water and electricity when doing the "normal" cycle. even though it takes 2:20 hrs, it does a better wash because it has a rinse portion in the cycle. Note also your 30 min quick wash probably does not have a drying portion in the cycle, hence the wet dishes at the end.

        • Thanks, I'll give the manual a read, Cheers

  • Have had one of these for about five years and it's great.

  • Thank you. Bought one

  • +2

I have a similar model. Washes well, but every now and then i get an E25 error - indicating a blockage in the pump/outlet. I have to manually empty all the water and it usually works fine next go. So, not much of a "block".

Bosch have been pretty crap. If it was a small appliance I'd have taken it back to the shop and demanded a replacement.

    • +1

my dads got replaced because of that fault. was well past the warranty.

    • +1

Check this vid. Ours had a similar issue where it was just clogging at the connection to the S-bend under the sink. We only found out after replacing the whole dishwasher and having the same issue, and then we noticed it :)

is this Turkish made or German

    German = good

    Turkish = beware

      Racist

    • +1

According to someone on Product Review who owns one it is made in Turkey:

      https://www.productreview.com.au/p/bosch-sms40m08au.html

    • This is Turkish but to be honest i would not prefer German made things- often expensive to maintain and long wait for parts

Just because you can post on the internet doesn't mean you should as this example shows.

So you would prefer a second rate product to one that is made in Germany? Sheesh. I guess Miele are second rate rubbish as well with their silly design life of 20 years and our second rate Miele dishwasher which is now over 20 years old and is going strong with no problems and nothing replaced except the water solenoid on the leak proof system because of water quality.

How about you provide some examples of where Turkish made goods are better then German made and also examples of why the Turkish part supplies are better, faster and cheaper?

        • +1

          “Reliable” VW?
All people I know got German cars (audi bmw Benz) are just like nice and fast when they are new and in warranty and expensive and take forever when they are not. Then these German made lovers start to source parts on eBay.

Of course if you got money then just go and get the best the get a new and best one later on

Also if u think about the premium often comes with a made in coutry x tag and then not so certain savings

For Miele maybe it is good, but how u know it is because it is make in somewhere or just good design and QC? I have a Miele vacuum it is powerful and made in China. Cost 1/3rd of higher end but a great buy for me

        • +1

So you would prefer a second rate product to one that is made in Germany? Sheesh

dude, don't quote the science. Real life is racist. The only way to be politically correct is to be delusionary.

        • @Devon:

          “Reliable” VW?

Yes. Skoda which is a VW is one of the most reliable cars and constantly wins awards for this.

Sure, whatever. You've shown you have no idea by describing them as "nice and fast" in warranty and "expensive and slow" when they are out of warranty. Sheesh.

Of course if you got money then just go and get the best the get a new and best one later on

Why would you need to do this? I know plenty of people with 10+ year old Miele appliances.

Also if u think about the premium often comes with a made in coutry x tag and then not so certain savings

          ?? In English please.

Ok you have now shown you have no idea. Why don't you do some research on Miele and learn about them and how they manufacture nearly every part themselves and keep parts even for machines like mine that are approaching 25 years old.

        • @Maverick-au:

So we just overlook VW’s emission record? BTW Skoda may or may not fit in your German preference because it actually got a Czech flavour

Maybe I am surrounded by the wrong people who just complain about their German cars every day, but u can see the price of used German/European cars and why is that? When I say slow, I refer to the lead time of parts.

I did research about Miele because I also wanted a reliable dishwasher. I am just not convinced for the premium they wanted it is good value for money. If this entry level Bosch lasted 1/2 of the high end model of Bosch or 1/2 of entry Miele, wouldn’t it make a better choice as you would be able to upgrade and differ some upfront cost to later on? And also what if your spending doesn’t result a certain longer life as you would hope? Of course if you home for sell, then put in a Kitchen with stones and European brands certainly can attract buyer who pay more. Someone may call them irrational

        • +2

I guess Miele are second rate rubbish as well with their silly design life of 20 years

Yeah, righty. Just replaced the Miele oven after 10 years (literally cheaper to buy a new Bosch 8-series), and the eight-year-old Miele dishwasher need s a $500 repair to the door latch.

Their claim about 20 years is either a lie or well out of date.

          @Devon:

BTW Skoda may or may not fit in your German preference because it actually got a Czech flavour

Skoda is fully owned by Volkswagen, the cars are manufactured in Volkswagen factories in the Czech Republic from mostly German parts.

Maybe I am surrounded by the wrong people who just complain about their German cars every day, but u can see the price of used German/European cars and why is that? When I say slow, I refer to the lead time of parts.

Utter rubbish, most parts for older German vehicles can be sourced easily. You have it back to front, try and get a part for a Korean or Thai built car that is over 10 years old.

Thank whatever you like, you have no idea about Miele as you indicated before. It's not just the life of the machine but the hassles that you have to consider in having to wait around for servicemen to fix the machine and the frustration that poorly designed and built machines cause. Maybe you should also factor in the cost to the environment of your reckless spending on cheap rubbish that you discard and replace with a new temporary appliance.

        • -3

          @Maverick-au:

So buying VW is certainly not reckless as per their honest behaviour record?

Your view about Skoda kind of support my view: your logic is despite it is not put together in German, it is still a good car (rightly or wrongly) with good management and parts, So doesn’t is support the point that it might be true that made in Turkish Bosch or made in China Miele could be good quality? You might find this Turkish Model have received several awards and alos positively feedbacks in this post.

So no I have no idea about Miele (so what’s the brand of my vacuum) My reckless value for money choices have been lasting so far, so how I know it is just I am lucky or they are actually ok?

In regards to Korean,Thailand or Chinese cars, at least they are not that expensive, so if it is equally troublesome, which one is then between choice? Try to search some random Benz parts

        • @Devon:

So buying VW is certainly not reckless as per their honest behaviour record?

Most of the other manufacturers have been caught out lying about their emissions including the Koreans.

What about Mazda, Honda, Toyota etc all keeping the problems with the airbags quiet for so long? How many lives have been lost from exploding shrapnel? You go on about some emissions crap but people are being killed by their cars and you don't care about that? Whatever suits your agenda I guess.

Your view about Skoda kind of support my view: your logic is despite it is not put together in German, it is still a good car (rightly or wrongly) with good management and parts, So doesn’t is support the point that it might be true that made in Turkish Bosch or made in China Miele could be good quality? What part of it's made in a Volkswagen run factory is hard to understand? The Czech people are like the Germans in the pride they take in building the vehicles and yet you seem unable to grasp the concept that the platform is made by VW along with the engine, transmission, suspension and many other components are all the same and the only part that differs are the body panels, interior trim etc.

The Turkish made Bosch is a hell of a lot better then a Turkish made Beko and other brands that are made there but for not much more you can buy a German made one that is superior in every aspect.

In regards to Korean,Thailand or Chinese cars, at least they are not that expensive, so if it is equally troublesome, which one is then between choice? Try to search some random Benz parts

Sure if you like driving vehicles that are not safe in a crash and that rely on additional systems like selt belt sensors to give them a reasonable score.

        • @Maverick-au:

For emission- no I didnt play environment card until you started- didn’t you accuse me being environmentally irresponsible - then I would like to assume you do care about environment.

In terms of all other car factories are not better- I agree- but I think you intend to prove German cars are better so maybe what you have said won’t support that.

I can’t support the point that some workers are “more proud” than other counties, however I won’t get into it. If VW run their bruises on staff”proud” so why they lie about their gas emission?

Since this deal has now expired, it probably means people actually want this or the vendor wants more

      • +1

        You are delusional mate.

    • +1

Yep. The cheap Bosch are no better than any of the other cheap brands. You get what you pay for with dishwashers. If you want a good one that will last then buy the German made Bosch.

      • My work do have German made models… they don’t do much in quick and a lot better in full- same as mine. Jam every now and then

It does have a cutlery tray which I like but for double the price perhaps not

  • Thanks, bought one

  • So I'm comparing this dishwasher to a Haier HDW14G2X for $528 from Appliances Online. The Haier one seems to be better spec wise but I am open to opinions or discussion.

    • So I'm comparing this dishwasher to a Haier HDW14G2X for $528 from Appliances Online. The Haier one seems to be better spec wise but I am open to opinions or discussion.

Of course it's better specced because it's made in China to a price and not a standard. Chinese cars have a better spec for a cheaper price but few people are buying them because they're rubbish.

Buy a decent dishwasher, get a Bosch made in Germany or a Miele and it'll last you for many years longer then some Haier that will be in landfill.

      • Someone posted earlier that this particular Bosch dishwasher isn't German made. I know it's usually better to buy the more expensive item/brand but it's hard personally to justify the bigger up-front cost when I don't have heaps of money to spend on it.

I will keep what you have said in mind though and try to increase my budget if that means a longer lasting product. Thanks.

        • This dishwasher is fine- got one for home and one for IP. It can survive me it probably can survive u- I can’t be bothered to rinse things…

      • Here is another one that enjoy the competitive price and yelling those products are rubbish. There is a solution to that, go live in the moon. It's called globalization.

  • Have had it for just over a year. Fantastic and would recommend it to anyone looking to buy one. We paid to have it installed about $160 from memory in Sydney. Glad we paid for it, there was quite a bit of work involved with the taps and cutting of the boards underneath.

  • +2

Looks like they've jacked it up to $799 now

  • $689 with delivery .. no go

  • Does this have a cutlery tray?

    • -1

Does this have a cutlery tray?

Why don't you read the description that the poster took the time to write and you might notice "Cutlery basket in bottom basket".

      • Not all super heroes wear capes, thanks mate
