Big Voss is good, more water to wash my car financially with.

Yes what an excellent choice. All the more better if it is used on a $80k car. As it's an investment with a high yield. /s

  • I launder cash with it - it takes a few to fill the washing machine but I must have the best laundering water!

    • I must have the best laundering water!

      No, it's the Voss.

    • easier and cheaper to open up a bank account with cba and launder it through their deposit machines?

Thanks, always good to have a backup dealer. I recently purchased some from Coles, it washed the bird poo off my Benz very nicely indeed. I reuse the bottles to capture some air from the area near my cabin in Aspen.

$3.70 decent value for a glass bottle? Any other decent options?

  • 500ml unavailable?

  • +3

    Last time when I check
500ml is not glass bottle, its plastic
Only 375 and 800 are glass bottles

    • This is correct

    • Do the plastic bottles look as good as the glass ones?

  • was over in europe earlier in the year, at a restaurant where they were selling voss for 10euro per bottle.

I'd imagine its like buying wine from a restaurant, the only reason you are willing to pay $70+ for a bottle is because you havent seen it in Dan Murphy's before. But if you did, you'd realise its a $15 bottle…

If you think it's about the water then you haven't been paying attention.

I tend to use the containers from Aldi wafer rolls as storage containers. And Nalgene drink bottles will last you a lifetime. Whatever works for you!

At least some of the Voss bottles are still made out of glass. We all know how good we are at glass recycling in Australia

Does anyone know if 800ml is microwave safe (including the plastic cap)?

    • yeh

    • If you want to test ANYTHING is microwave safe, stick it on a plate in your microwave for a few seconds next to a cup of water.

Heats up = bad (i.e. microwave absorbent, like melamine)

      Still (relatively) cool = good.

I use it to determine if fabrics are cotton or nylon/polyester, for my wife's sewing hobbies - you don't want a wheat pack that'll melt!

$4 per litre for something that falls from the sky. That's a good business model!

    • +2

Well, if you have a dust storm, it's -technically- glass falling from the sky I suppose. Although I find it strange you are measuring a solid object in litres, generally for solids it's in grams or kilos. Though there's a bit more effort in turning sky glass into bottle glass.

Don't forget about the free water you're getting from these 'sky-falling' bottles, too, it's not worth much, but adds something to the value of the bottle you're buying.

      • How many years does it take for a Voss bottle tree to bear fruit?

        • Ah, now that fruiting cycle all depends on the idiot consumer/average consumer/OzBargainer balance & flow affecting the Coles & Woolies sales records, and their integral purchasing decisions.

Idiots will buy premium imported water regardless of the price.

Normal consumers WON'T buy premium bottled water unless thirsty, cheap or lack of other options. But they will equally buy any other water on sale as their demands require.

OzBargainers see the value and pounce when there's a sale on a -non consumable asset-. This artificially drives up the total sales, meaning that the Coles managers will buy more stock in accordingly (that will stockpile until the next sale).

The pump-n-dump cycle that we all cause is actually creating the next cycle. WE are the pollinators of these price surges and dips. And WE SHALL EAT THE FRUIT OF THESE DISCOUNTS AND CLEARANCES!

  • Can Coles price match this?

  • I couldn't imagine any genuine Oz Bargainer buying Voss, surely?

    • Why not?

    • Whenever on sale I buy Voss. I have to be very careful with the water that I consume due to health reasons, add in the fact that most water actually makes me sick, Voss is one of the few brands I have found that I can down and not have it cause troubles on my insides, so I see it as, when on sale of course, a few dimes more for peace of mind and less pain and issues, is well worth it. Just my situation and opinion though, but Voss works for me, so I take it with glee. Pretty bottles too!

      • If it's something in the water that makes you sick, wouldn't distilled water be the best for you?

        • Nope, distilled water gets rid of things in the water yes, however that doesn't brring back the good things. Basically, I need natural water, that hasn't been processed with or anything else really, as chemicals that for example happens at processing plants for our general tap water. Their chemicals kills the bads, as well as the goods, so throwing that into distilled water and purifiers and so on, gets rid of the chemicals they use to get rid of the the bad stuff, but doesn't bring back the good things that the chemicals removed.

EDIT: I mean, distilled is better than just tap water for me, yes, so it's like, a backup if I'm locked in a house with nothing but a tap and a kettle, but yeah, if I'm not in hermit mode, I have to try to get the best I can, as much as possible. That said, the best I have found in Australia, that works best for me is Alka Power Alkaline water, which thankfully Woolworths stocks.
