Acer Gaming Products Selected Products 20% off @ Harvey Norman

420

I posted some Bathurst Promo Deals for Xbox One a few days ago, most of the promo code limit maxed out.

On the other side of the flyer were some Acer Gaming Deals I did not mention at the time. Not really into expensive PC gaming products and do not really see it as a bargain myself. If you were looking at these products maybe.

For completeness I thought I would post this as well now. Someone may be interested.

Codes are still valid to 15-10-2017, I tested each one and all worked still right now even though days have past.

+1 for the Predator X34 price

    • Suppose I was in the market for a monitor of a similar size. Would you recommend the X34 over other brands/models?

    • -6

I'm not impressed by the X34 price.

It's usually $1500. I bought one for ~1340 delivered. From memory I think it was $1299 before shipping.

      • +11

So how exactly is $1181 not impressive then? That's a whole $118 less than your lowest.

    • Agreed, great price. I assume new model is coming out soon hence the price drop?

      • +2

Acer X35 will be around next year I think, comes with HDR, G-Sync and 200Hz. I'd wait for that.

        • +1

Only releases Q1 of next year … but the price on that monitor will be insane!

      • and Gen 8 intel is out now

    • Great price! Great monitor! Big plus to buy from a bricks and mortar in case you have BLB issues. Sent one of these back and the asus pg348q before i got a decent one.

      • Did you end up sticking with the pg348q, how did the two compare for you?

        • The x34 was a bit cheaper and i actually went through 2 pg348qs and both were much worse than the acer for blb. Stayed with the x34, absolutely love it but my 1080 struggles to maintain high fps at ultra.

  • What a great time to be a PC gamer!

    • +1

Nah, most games are mindless fps mashups that all sound the same.

80s and 90s was where the imaginations ran wild and came out with great games and technolically advancing games that unfortunately spoon fed the people pitching ideas of games that we have today.

  • Trying to find reviews for that desktop PC but most seem to be for an older model (which didn't review that well).

Even searching for it on the HN website brings up the older version - newer version has an RX480 as mentioned on the flyer, but the one on the website is still the old version with the 1060.

  • +2

seems like a fair price for the 1060 laptop @ 1581.

paid $100 more for only 8gb ram compared to this one at 16gb during the 20% ebay sale. the difference is, harvey norman havent jacked their prices up to take advantage of the sale.

    • I reckon it's a better than fair price, specs beats the Dell inspiron gaming laptops and manages to be cheaper as well.

      • Dell just updated their gaming laptops with a GTX 1060 Max Q, less powerful slightly compared to regular 1060, but runs alot cooler and quieter too, which can be a great thing if you are after that… They wouldn't be on sale for a while though, if someone needed something sooner.

        • Their new model comes with a smaller battery as well, I'm hoping to get one of the older models on clearance ahaha

        • @ccsvchost: If it was a similar price/a few hundred more, it'd still be worth going for…. Trust me, having a smaller battery isn't really an issue for a gaming laptop, if you were gaming without it plugged in you might see and additional 5-10 minutes battery life, and if using it for regular applications, maybe 25 mins max haha

  • is the 27' 240Hz monitor worth $795? or the 24' 144Hz for $310.

    • 27" is still only 1080p so low PPI, it is a TN panel so super fast but image quality isn't as good as IPS or VA panels, you will need a decent NVIDIA GPU and fast CPU to take advantage of 240hz, and it has no bezzels so the idea is a multi screen setup.

If you only competitively game online, such as CS:GO or Overwatch, and want to eliminate bottlenecks that may make the difference, this is the monitor. If you like a variety of games, including those with beautiful visuals, this is not the monitor.

The 24" is a budget version of the 27".

There is the option to own two monitors, the 24" 144hz with G-Sync for online fast paced fps gaming and a second lower hz, but larger resolution IPS screen to take in the beauty of the scenery. Would probably cost less than getting one super monitor.

      http://www.pcgamer.com/does-a-240hz-monitor-really-make-a-di…

      • It looks like Acer 24" B240B is not G-Sync, there's not much information online. Most reviews are of the 24" B241H which is G-sync

        • You are correct, it looks like if you got it, you'd be using Fast Sync.

  • I went into the Auburn NSW store recently after many years of never stepping foot in a HN store. They renovated the upper floor very nicely and they have a gamer section where everything is on display for brands like Acer and HP. They had a few (not worthwhile) bargain bins but not as many as they used to have. I guess HN are trying a new sale strategy. Too bad they didn't do anything with the ground floor which still feels like the 90s. It's worth taking a walk through the new Nick Scali next door if you do pop in. MSY is across the road in case normal PC part prices are needed.

  • +2

Wow - $1581 for a 6GB GTX1060 laptop with decent specs is a really good deal.

  • Thank you. I've wanted one of these backpacks for my Acer Predator 17" laptop for ages but they're $189 from the Acer store. I can't justify that price but $128 isn't so bad. Looking forward to having a decent bag to carry the beast of a laptop in.

And FYI I paid $2,798.00 on 6/06/2017 for the 17" laptop (GTX 1070) so this price is definitely a good one in you've been considering one of these laptops. I love mine to death. It's pretty much as powerful as my desktop system which is pretty impressive imo.

  • Just spoke to a rep via online chat, the person said the code is LIMITED NUMBERS, so it may not be expired but the number of codes they provide could be all used up, therefore you cannot use it anymore.

confirm via online chat, print screen done.

And Predator G3-571 is not available online, most likely in-store stock, check individual store for stock.

  • Is the Acer Predator G3-710 Desktop - Black for $1355 a good price? Wanting something that can play some casual games but also be able to do some graphic design/ marketing without any speed issues.

    • yes, but for a smoother graphic upgrade the graphics card. but the spec is still pretty good

      • I am like a super noob when it comes to PC gaming but the Gaming tower listed by Harvey Norman am I able to upgrade it later on?

All in all do you think a PC like this would be good for casual gaming?

        • +2

Assuming the case has enough clearance for a larger GPU such as a 1080 or 1080ti and the PSU is 600w or more upgrading the GPU shouldn't be an issue. Although an RX480 is more than enough for casual gaming, it's slightly less powerful than a 1070 if I recall.

I'd get a Samsung 850/960 to put in there as well.

        • it's definitely sufficient for casual gaming and graphics design, but to enhance the PC add a SSD (faster reading and booting up etc) and upgrade the RAM to 32GB (so you can multitask without slowing down), Graphics card can be done later on, it will be suffice for now.

The good thing about a desktop is you can constantly upgrade individual components while keeping up with technology changes.

im tempted to grab the same pc and slowly build it up better for more gaming

  • I'm curious about the processor. On the other PCs on the site it specifically mentions Kaby Lake, but on this desktop PC it doesn't specify.

  • Have the x34 and got to say it's a fantastic piece of kit for any gamer. I paid 1200 about 6 months ago but with some other stuff on top and I have not complained what so ever about the quality of the monitor.

G synch works a treat and games are sexually maxxed out.

Would like another so my PC has something to do.

  • Anyone dare the officeworks price beat by 5%?

    $1181 - 59.05 (5% )

$1121.95 is sexy, wallet emptily sexy.

    • They usually won't price beat coupons.

      • Ah yeah the exclusions…

What items are excluded from the LPG?

Package deals e.g. printer and computer bundles
        Cash back and coupon offers
Resellers and Grey Importers (i.e. products offered for sale in Australia by unauthorised retailers)
        Commercial quantities
        Customer special orders
Business Pricing (i.e. a reduced price not available to the public)
Competitor clearance products and stock liquidations
Discounts not available to the public (e.g. Team member discounts)

        Bummer

  • Hi All,

I'm currently torn between which of the two options are the better choice in terms of performance and value.

I know custom builds are the way to go but I'm opting to get it on interest-free finance as I don't have the amount ready to go. So if there are better builds out there that I can get via Harvey Norman or JB around the $1600 mark please let me know.

    1. Acer G3-571-768G (Acer Predator Helios 300)
      15.6inch 1080P screen
      16GB DDR4
      i7-7700HQ processor Quad-core 2.80 GHz
      NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 | 6 GB
      128GB SSD
      1TB HDD

    Total Price of $1581

    Or

    2.
    Acer Predator G3-710 Desktop
    i7-7700
    16GB DDR4
    2TB HDD
    4GB Radeon RX 480

    Total Price of $1355

Portability isn't a real concern for me which is why I'm not fussed. Just value and performance.

    Thanks :)

    • First choice looks better in my opinion,
Because you get an SSD that can hold your OS plus 1 or 2 games, And also get a monitor to go with it

      • Thanks Steer, Considering a price difference of $226.00 that sounds reasonable

  • Can I pick the laptop up from my local store?

    Thanks

    • Yes you can… Picked mine up today. :)

      • Thanks, Enjoy your new toy!

  • Sucks the discount code is to a FIXED value, as OP states it is $2694 for a Acer Predator G9-793-78RV 17.3",
But at the moment it is $2424
    Discount with coupon = -$269
    Discounted total $2155

    Saving of -0.11%

If it was -20% the saving would be $484.8

Will HN honour the flyers statement of 20% off or the price listed?
Lets start a quick online chat with them and find out…

    • I believed it was false advertising so I put a complaint through via their Facebook channel.
I bought the Acer Predator Helios 300 15.6" Gaming Laptop at $1581 after seeing the 20% off the online price on the flyer.

Naturally trusted this to be accurate so made the purchase.

Only bothered to re-calculate the difference after I had the goods.

Deceptive and misleading would be the words Fair Trading would use with that flyer. The 20% should be dynamic based on the online price. Not static and fixed as you mentioned.

Please let me know how you go. I will be taking it further if they don't refund the difference or compensate.

      • yeah I just spent about 15minutes on online chat arguing the fact of their advertisement, I stated they should not adjust the online price within the promotional period if they are not wanting to honour the statement of 20% off online price

Funny how they're quick to cancel orders for pricing errors when it suits them, but when they change the price legitimately with ongoing promo's they flake!

    • UPDATE

HN will only accept the printed price, although the header states 20% off the online price, even though the online price has been reduced, they will not honour the 20% off discount, and only provide 11%.

      • Thanks mate, I think it's pretty unconscionable. There is a solid argument that this is deceptive advertising.

The 20% off the online price is clear and concise. This is the offer being presented to consumers.
This alone should supercede the outdated printed price of the item.

I'll see what they have to say but I've taken screenshots in case I need to submit a case.

        • please let me know if you get anywhere with this. I'm in a similar boat.

        • @DyingSpree: Not a worry.

I used to work for a certain ombudsman so I know what's considered fair & reasonable conduct and what our consumer rights should be.

I even offered to accept the difference in store credit to minimise impact to the business as it will still be used internally, So we'll see.

        • @ZackyD: THanks friend and good luck!

      • You guys area getting way too serious which makes me think twice about posting next time. These deal was offered to visitors of the Bathurst 1000 race, not anyone else. If you can benifit from it great. If this goes to court or whatever you will most likely lose as you do not have a physicals copy of the flyer. Anyway HN should not change the price in the promotion period.

        • I know I'm truly appreciative of your post as would countless others that have saved valuable dollars from this post so please don't let my outburst discourage you from future post.

Whilst I doubt I would have bothered to actually carry out what I said over a rather small amount, I've worked in an industry which has taught me to be more self aware of our consumer rights and I believe people should stand up for themselves if hard done by.

As mentioned, I made a purchase at that price point believing it was at the 20% off advertised rate only to find out post purchase that it wasn't.
That's the main kicker, To their credit Harvey Norman's customer service team have been great and offered me an apology over the situation.

As a community that helps each other with being financially savvy, I strongly believe, educating other users on their consumer rights is a part of that.

          Thanks again for your post

        • +1

          No worries.

The post was more popular that I thought it was, I was not even going to post.
I was only interested Forza deals on previous page of the flyer which I posted many days before this one.

Glad there were some people that found it useful.

The online price for the 15" laptop is now $1779. So $1581 is extra saving saving of 198 so still a good price.
