iCandy Orange Pram / Pushchair $1,569.00 (RRP $1,899.00) @ Glenhuntly Baby Carriages

21

The brand new iCandy Orange pushchair offers unparalleled functionality, which is infused with flawless style and rich textures. The iCandy Orange features high attention to detail, along with eye catching iCandy branding, and minimal rivets on display, creating a sleek and desirable design.

UPDATE:
I have a requirement to seat one toddler and a newborn. Rather than buying two prams, I was looking for one pram to seat both at once. A primary requirement is to have the toddler seat facing away from the bassinet (as the toddler will kick).
And there are only two prams that does this. This iCandy is the cheapest with all the accessories included (rain cover and second seat etc..).
(see two middle pics of this link for configuration required https://www.kidsstore.co.uk/_webedit/cached-images/2066-6-3-…)

Functionality trumps style/looks!

    yikes!

  • +10

Whoa the unparalleled functionality makes me feel like my children of a bygone era missed out :(

    • +1

I look at this pram and wonder how we ever survived as kids. Thinking of bringing legal action against my parents for not getting a pram that stopped my brother kicking me in the face.

Kind of explains why I’m so ugly though…

  • Double the price of Baby Jogger… Yeesh I hope you keep that thing bubble wrapped lol

    • -3

The equivalent baby jogger (City Lux) is ~$1649

      • +4

Wasn't referring to the really wanky ones. City mini gt or city select are perfectly fine and are under $1k

        • +2

There are prams half the price of Baby Jogger which are perfectly fine as well.

        • @tranter:

I know, but OP obviously cares about image, hence my baby jogger suggestions

        • -1

          @Spackbace:
Not image - functionality. Functionality trumps style any day.

There is only two prams that can do these two configurations (see link, two configurations in the middle of this pic)
          https://www.kidsstore.co.uk/_webedit/cached-images/2066-6-3-…

The Babyjogger Lux and iCandy Orange. Rather than buying two separate prams, I intend to buy one.

note. if you find a pram where the toddler seat is facing the bassinet, most likely the toddler will be kicking the bassinet seat.

Please by all means, if you find a cheaper price, do let me know. Or know of a pram that is good quality and can do this configuration, please let me know.

hence, this is the only option.

        • @ds4:

City select can do the 3rd.

Why would you buy a pram for 1 specific configuration? Did your kids tell you how they wanna sit or something?

        • @Spackbace:

I dont want to buy two prams that will cost the same. plus, space in the car and I'm not going to be wheeling around two prams alone.

very true. city select can do the 3rd, but not the second. When you add all the accessories (second seat, bassinet, rain cover), its comes very close to this iCandy.

Where this iCandy is superior is it can do 40 different combinations.. not that i will use all that, but I will the 2nd one where the toddler will face forward. Yes the kids will want to face forward or backwards depending on where you are going. And the iCandy can do this.

        • @ds4:

City select can be bought for under $800 or so from the states, with the 2nd seat. No way it would be close in price to this one with the few accessories

        • @Spackbace:

the 'City' select is ~$200 cheaper. and its the older model. 'Lux' is the new model.
i would not be buying it from overseas because if something goes wrong, then shipping charges might get expensive due to its weight. I prefer the local warranty..

thanks for your feedback too. can you point me in the direction where you would get it for $800?

        • @ds4:

          Ebay is the best bet

Dont need warranty claims for these lol just doesn't happen

        • @Spackbace:

          cool thanks.

        • +1 for the “wanky” comment. That is all these prams are. The soccer mum’s “my husband earns more than your husband” pram to have.

Thanks for the massive chuckles, Spack :D

I'm not going to be wheeling around two prams alone.

Nah, the house maid will be pushing the other… :D

      • +2

I got my Baby Jogger City Mini GT for $394 - I'd much rather spend the extra $1000 on something else than worry about "flawless style" and "eye catching iCandy branding"!!!

  • An expensive pram indeed! Pity it isn't available at Babysrus otherwise the price-beat could come in handy for those who are keen for this product.

    • yep…

  • +4

    wow!!!$1,569.00

  • And there I was thinking I was a idiot for spending 1.5k on one. But atleast it was motorised self folding/opening. With onboard led lights, phone charger, with a screen display

    • Ooo did you get the 4MOMS one?!

      • Yep plus the extra baby carrier

        • I'm nowhere near kids but this is in my must have list. How'd you get it? They don't have stockists in Australia that i could find.

        • +1

@staceyasinme: me either got this for my baby nephew, it was 3yrs ago tho. Baby bunting was the only one that had them back then. All up was about 1.8k

  • +10

OMG, thats a lot of money for a baby that came for free

    • +3

Trust me, kids don't come for free.

      • +7

I'm always forced to wear a condom whenever I've paid for sex.

        • -1

So your neighbour doesn't force you to wear a condom?

    • +1

baby comes with a wife/partner.. its not free!

      • That part’s obvious from the price of this “wanky” pram… :D

  • +1

    Geez !!!!!

There goes any idea of having kids put of my head!!!!

  • +1

Yeah no. Steelcraft agile for less than 1/3 of this and it has been fine through 2 kids now.

    • +2

      Yep I paid $279.

The foam on the handle started to break down but that’s only because I strapped a cup holder too tight.

Also it was the lightest on the market at the time.

    • +4

I use Agile too. But I guess I can't show off to friends with $300ish pram

  • +3

Too easy. Hold my beer while I grab my spare change from my side pocket to buy this pram.

    • +1

If you pay extra you can buy an attachable cup holder :)

  • +9

Reminds me of the 'Guilty Mum' section from the Checkout, :/

  • +1

Not affordable since the baby bonus was cancelled.

  • +9

I've had these 'high end' prams before. Anyone who hasn't, save your $$, there's no value here. I will pay high dollars for things but good value is a minimum requirement for me. Don't get me wrong I understand that style is a subjective component of value but this looks almost identical in form and function to a product I bought 9 years ago so it's not like this is a cutting edge design.

    • +4

      Well said.

    • +10

Only reason people buy this is to look like hot shit in front of their friends aka "face".

      • +2

Exactly. A friend post things like this on FB and it's purely just for showing off

      • This is just another classic example when your neighbours drive a Mercedes or BMW, using the latest iPhone, but live in a housing commission.

    • +1

Clearly BMW and Mercedes should pay attention to this market too. People drive $100000 cars don't want to push a $300 pram for their kids for sure. If they make prams with their badges on them at $1000 to $2000 price tags on them will sell like hot cakes.

      • McLaren pram.

  • +5

Bugger me….. Do people pay 2k for a dam pram these days. Just buy a CT110 (postie bike) and ziptie a capsule to the back. After paying 12 months rego you'd still have $700 left….. and for the times that you may actually want to take the kid jogging you could airtasker a uni student to pigyback your child next next to you while you run (aprox 23 times at $30 an hour)

  • +1

Link says "Sale ends on 30 September. Don't miss out!" 🤔

    • +2

      Quick, leap into the DeLorean

      • +4

Probably cheaper to buy than this pram.

  • -1

Thanks OP, bought one for KFC Drive-Thru.

  • Time to go tell my wife how much I love her (and her truly Ozb frugality). So far our total spend on baby is less!

  • -5

Given how easy it is to pick up pram deals from all of the high end brands on eBay (Joolz, Bugaboo, Stokke etc) this really can't be seen as a bargain.

  • How does one justify spending $1900 on a pram when one that is 10x less ($190) still performs the job!!!

    • +1

Ha! Easily justifiable when you NEED to keep up with the trend! You cannot be seen in a 200$ pram around Chadstone / Chatswood! How would that go with the latest designer onesies you just picked up for $150! OR your Laboutins! Things have changed. Appearance is King! Sadly. My kids never complained about the medium priced pram.( which I truly hated for being heavy and hard to steer). ;)

      • Is that why there is always so much reduced meat and bakery at Chatswood? 🤔🤔
Haha I would be the one strolling around in my Kmart onesie pushing around a defective woollies trolley ;)

      • Omg, imagine St Kilda on a Saturday morning, eating your smashed avocado on toast and sipping your free range, organic, free trade double chai espresso skim soy double choc mocha latte and a child in a $200 pram.

        Oh, the shame!

        • So true. My heart almost stopped envisaging that. Some things you just cannot do.NEVER.

    • +1

      because people are pretentious poseurs…

  • I bought a pram that lasted me 2 kids costs me only $150. I gave it to my neighbor after that.

  • Well this opened up a can of worms. FWIW I was happy with my Baby Jogger City Elite for many years, ordered from the US

    • -1

Ordered from the US? Is that so it cost you more so you had something else to one up everyone on Instagram/Facebook while comparing how expensive your prams are?

      • Yeah you got me, I live a sad, vain life.

Thanks for the strange assumption, but this was back in 2013, and saved quite a substantial amount of money by importing, just like a lot of things on Ozbargain 😐. By the way, I don’t have Facebook or Instagram.

  • +8

a fool and his money are soon parted

  • +2

I thought I was bad getting a Phil and Ted's sport tandem for $700 incl all the trimmings. It was the lightest, smallest, simplest tandem capable pram on the market at the time. Just not the cheapest.

3 kids and 10 years later it was still going strong when I ebayed it for $200. Would easily do another 10 years.

People buy these >$1000 prams to pose, simple as that. Just dont kid yourself that its somehow worth the money.

  • ABS, ESC, traction control, rear reversing camera and climate control come as standard?

    • All standard. Me thinks. A

s are bluetooth and built in ipad. One for each child. LOL

  • +1

We had a city mini double and paid a premium just to have the one action fold up and the lightweight. Was money well spent ($750). We looked after it really well and sold it for 75% of what we paid for it. There is $$$$ line though where you cross from quality and design into "look at me" territory.

  • +6

Paid less for my first car.

  • I’d name my first talking pram K.I.T.T

  • +2

Fantastic! I know a lot of people hate the price, but my baby is REALLY ugly, so I really need this to compensate.

Hope it can hold my iPhone x

  • Aldi have a pram this week for $95

  • Is worth every $$$$ not hear your wife nag at you…. This pram is to heavy…. This pram is to hard to push..
