  • Better than LG OLED?

    • I would like to know the same thing..anyone compared the two?

      • Both panels are by LG but seeing that Sony invented OLED, I'd pick Sony as they have more knowledge of the technology, plus the 4k upscale is (subjectively speaking) better. Also Sony TV had Android built in (love or hate)

        • Where is your source for Sony invented OLED? I don't think this is accurate.

        • -1

If you had googled Sony XEL-1, you'd know I'm right ;)

        • @DonIsGood: Correct me If I am wrong, they made the first OLED tele they did not invent OLED. I would go with LG as they know better about the panel than Sony

        • -1

@praga: actually you are still buying the Sony technology as the likes of Samsung and LG used to source their panels from Sony 10 years ago (and for a number of years thereafter), thus without Sony there probably won't be a LG now. Let's not forget also that Sony has been innovating/making TV's yons before the Koreans knew how to copy, thus Sony knows what they are doing when it comes to TV tech.

Don't take my words but go and see it for yourself with both TV's side by side (using the same source material), I have, and subjectively and personally speaking, the Sony offers better upscaling and contrast

        • @DonIsGood: No better way to prove your point than a made up story.

        • @Burnertoasty: I'm not a brand centric fanboy. I'm merely putting in my 2cents worth of trivia.

If you want to buy a LG, go for it, I applause you. Afterall, LG needs someone to pay for their TV commercials.

Personally and if I was to consider a TV, I'd aim for a Panasonic (empowered by Pioneer's Kuro patent) or Sony for their innovations…. Ironically, both companies don't advertise on TV, guess substance speaks louder than words.

@DonIsGood: That has nothing to do with you making up the fact that Sony supplied LG and Samsung. I think it's funny that you say you aren't brand centric, but then say you'd chose a Panasonic, based off The fact they acquired some old technology. Simply reading consumer reviews or expert texts would show you that Panasonic don't make good TVs, despite your brand fanboism.

        • @DonIsGood: As has already been said, that does not mean they invented OLED.

  • It says 0 available when i click the link

    • i could add it to my cart.

Sorry, bought the last 6 for a feature wall.

  • Not sure if they (LG who manufacture all the panels) have fixed this yet, but our neighbor has the Sony A1 but in 65" size, which prompted us to jump onto the 65" Panasonic EZ1000 deal from Myer, but the Sony our neighbor got had two "vertical banding" stripes that can be seen to the left and right of the screen (You only notice it when the screen is displaying a dark grey color and after someone tells you to look for the issue, and if you google it you can see that it is a fairly common issue with the LG OLED that they sell on to Panasonic and Sony to use at this time, they call it a panel lottery for the vertical banding), they were provided with a second unit from Sony warranty support without a fight, and that new unit also has just a single vertical line that you hardly notice too, so they decided to live with it.
We keep looking at our Panasonic now and thinking that we can make out a faint vertical line too. Once you see a vertical line, it is hard not to focus on it. No idea what causes this issue, and please note that the lines are not prominent, but when paying for a premium TV it is a worry.
Still a great price OP, nice find
