Converse Chuck Taylor All Star @ Kogan (Half Sizes Available) $59 + $9 delivery

110

Kogan are selling the classic Converse Chuck Taylors at a pretty decent price with pretty much a full range of sizes including half sizes.

Converse Australia and resellers have never sold half sizes, and if you're like me and take a half size you'd have to get them through the US/UK with significant postage fees or go through a forwarding service.

Please note they don't ship until Nov 2nd but you can buy them now as presale. Chucks also tend to run large, I take a full US size down.

  • Thanks,I ordered two pairs. I've been looking for some new chucks for a while. It's been so hard to find the right colours and sizing (9.5) in stock for a good price so this is perfect!

I always thought US sizing was 1 size smaller than AU/UK sizing (i.e., you need to get US11 if you wear AU/UK10). Does anyone know how Chuck Taylors size against other US shoes that are posted here, like New Balance and Nike?

Yeah I don't grok the OP's statement either. I'm AU/UK 7, and for Chucks I always buy US 8 (which is in line with the normal UK-to-US conversion scale). Fits me perfectly.
I noticed the "official" Chucks size chart often says that UK 7 = US 7, but for me that is definitely not true and is too small.

The one and only exception is for the Chuck Taylor slip-on shoes (that don't have any laces), those seem to run too big and loose, so I buy 1 size smaller than I normally would.

The fit might be different for you, everyone's feet are different, so your best bet is to find a place that offers free returns in case the shoes don't fit.

For comparison, when it comes to New Balance running shoes I usually get size US 8.5 or 9. For some reason most running shoes tend to be too small (NFI why!), so I have to go up at least 1 size or more to compensate.

That's what I thought too re difference in sizes between US and UK shoe sizes. Good idea, I better try them on in one of the local stores instead of running the risk of getting these and not being able to return them in case they don't fit. Ta

A lot of people say that Chuck Taylors run a little big, though I wear my normal size (11).

I don't have any NB or Nike shoes to compare to, but I have a pair of Adidas Stan Smiths in a US 12 which are pretty much identical in size to a US 11 in the Chucks. I don't know if the Stan Smiths run a bit small, the Converse run a bit big, or it's a little of both.

If you're going to order online, I'd suggest trying on a pair of Chucks first. They're a little bit long and narrow and don't have any arch support, so it's worth seeing if you like them before buying, because they're a strange shoe compared to the more modern styles.

      • I see. As 44sunsets mentioned above, he wears one size up in Chuck Taylors, so it looks like it comes down to one's feet with these particular shoes. With regard to arche support, I have high arches so these might not be the proper shoes for me, I am afraid.
