    Grinder (not the App)

    Bahaha

    There's one around $25
Not sure what the difference is.

    • Direct Power tools are of cheap construction materials and low quality with the motors prone to burning out when used for extensive jobs, if its the odd job around the house you should be fine, for drilling into metal and walls though I would pay a bit extra and get the bosch

      • Bosch 'green' is for the cheap low quality DIY market, it's similar to the other no name brands.
Bosch have their blue range which is of much higher quality.

        • Bosch 'green' is still made in japan last time i looked (march 2016)

        • @MADBONE89: I have a green one made in prc , so people's republic of china .
          Going strong though

    • +2

Keyed vs keyless chuck and although bosch green is no where near as good as blue, it's still likely better than a no name brand brand

  • I already have a Makita angle grinder and a drill but so tempted

  • +1

This is on par with Ozito pricing, not bad.

  • +2

it's basically a hammer drill right?
    not a impact driver?

    • I would also be interested in this answer…..

    • +2

      You are correct

    • +4

Yes, this is so. As you can see from the SCA pic of the drill, the top of the drill has a selector switch and one side of which displays a small embossed hammer, so it is essentially a hammer drill with non hammer functionality.

The depth indicator is useful for gauging boring depth also, measuring depth in MM increments.

They should just call it a hammer drill, but I am unsure if that is still common parlance.

      • so no hammer?

        • +7

I didn’t explain that very well did I, sorry.

What I mean is, it’s a hammer drill but you can also use it without the hammer function for drilling into steel, timber, plaster etc.

My apologies, I knew what I meant but just didn’t articulate it very well.

Many thanks OP …. my Bosch 570, which I purchased in 1999, went belly up yesterday. Great replacement!

  • My current Bosch blue grinder I find discs sometimes slip eg. when using it to chase into concrete. Either way was going to ask if anyone thinks this is due to being old/worn or if I just need to be using better discs or tightening harder?

    • +2

Don't overtighten the nut that holds the disc on as it will warp the disc. You should be able to purchase a replacement nut/washer thing, from most hardware stores. I had the same thing with my makita's being 13years old now and still going strong as!
You will find that 1 side has a dead-flat surface and the other has a concave bit. So, one side holds cutting discs and the other side holds grinding discs.
go to your nearest hardware store which supplies bosch, makita, whatever brand you use and ask for a replacement. Should have a number like a M8-10 or something. Only costs about $10 and it's as good as new.
After time it simply wears down, wear & tare from pressure. A worn nut will look like it has 2 smooth sides, not good. Some people get away with using a spacer/washer too but i dont recommend that

      • Great contribution, I was yet to figure this out! Thanks!

Damn, I paid $90 at Bunnings for the same grinder on sale.

    • Get begged for your misfortune!

  • +2

For odd jobs this would be grand. Bosch green ain’t Blue but it’s not shit either, the corded option allows for longer working times and the small size means it’s not going to be unweildy. The family has had a green Bosch for years, prob 15 or more and it just keeps on truckin’, granted it was made in Switzerland but still.

I have never used drill my entire life (well 30 years). Do I need any other tool to go with this drill use it? Also, is 1CM capacity enough for odd jobs?

Lastly, can it be used to loose/tight screws as well?

    • +2

      You will need drill bits.

    • +1

You need to buy good drill bits (like Suttons). Good drill bits make all the difference - just buy a smaller set to start with, then add as you need to. For screwing, you generally need a separate impact driver (electric screwdriver).

Don't be scared - pick up a drill and have some fun.

      • Thanks Fellas :)

      • Sutton make some of the best drill bits. Plus they're a aussie brand/company from what i can remember. They also make a cheaper version under the name of 'frost'

  • Thanks OP.

  • Really good price these are usually around $90 I think. Perfect tools for casual and beginner use.

  • How do you get free delivery on the angle grinder. My cart is showing $9.95 delivery.

    • +1

I think they just removed free postage.

My post-sale invoice says $9.95 postage - but was only charged $35.00 as per my PayPal and original shopping cart. I would buy at $35 but not at $44.95.

I didn't authorise $44.95 so hope they don't try and charge the extra.

Now there's no option for free postage - quoted at $9.95.

      • was about to buy but found 9.95 postage required.

  • Does this work on padlocks?

    • Definately. Thin blades are best.

  • I'm not very handy, what else can I grind apart from ankles?

    • +2

Please stay away from my ankles….

Well, you could use it to grind off excess material off wood and cut tile, remove grout, remove mortar, sharpen steel blades and grind off rust. Different types of grinder discs will be required.

      • +1

I feel like I could do too much damage with this lol

    • New sunroof, cut rusty bolts/padlocks off. Use in fabrication of metal projects.

  • missed out :/

  • $49.95 delivery to me (so $85 total). Haha nope.

  • $35 each, $13.95 delivery. Perhaps worth it still if getting both? Hmmmm….

  • says expired yet i can still get it at $35?
    EDIT:fixed

  • Can i drill hole in a brick wall with a Bosh and still use it afterwards?

    • +2

The wall, if constructed well, should remain structurally sound.

  • -1

I missed out on drill but delivery is $10 so $45 in total. Stil worth it at that price?

  • Damn, not available in Newcastle

  • Anyone know if the angle grinder disc clamp is tool-less?

  • Would it now be better to get it off eBay with $7.95 flat rate postage?

Excludes: Northern Territory, QLD Far North, WA Regional, WA Remote

  • how do you reserve a Pick Up?

I select purchase and next option is to PICK UP today which all stores states no availability.
    (I dont want delivery)

  • Price gone back up to $50?

  • Both the impact drill and the grinder are now down to $30 each.
    Ends 22/10/17

  • There are also several 'green' angle grinder models it seems, the one I got last year is a 1000W version and is pretty sturdy.
