EXPIRED SanDisk Cruzer USB 4G $8.90, 8G $18.50, 16G $30.95, 32G $62.95 FREE Shipping @IT Device

Hi guys,

It seems 4GB is too small for some, and 32GB is too big. So we have decided to make it a big deal for all capacities of this Cruzer series.

We are a SanDisk Authorised Reseller (http://www.sandisk.com.au/retail-buy.aspx , select Australia) and naturally all these ones are 100% genuine brand new Australian stock.

Please note that this is the new series from SanDisk, and comes with no key ring (there's still a small hole) and U3 software like the old ones.

  • Not that great of a deal for any old USB stick but for this specific one not too bad

    • +6

The old item price is $4.95 WITH $9.73 P&H cost, or $14.68 in TOTAL. Now the TOTAL is only $8.90, or 40% discount. We simply cannot afford selling hundreds of this item at $4.95 with free shipping.

    • +1

and in their defence, you can still buy it at that 4.95 price with the giant shipping cost if you want. there was a link on the right hand side when i went to the site.

    • +2

Source please? If it's also genuine, including GST and postage, and comes from SanDisk Australia we will definitely buy them in bulk.

    • +3

cheapest bargain in a while has been $13~ for 8gb kingston delivered. don't think it gets any better than that unless it's from ebay (chance of being fake)

      • +3

exactly this is not a bad price.

      • Even Australian eBay sellers have been busted selling fake Kingston products. I know, I ordered one and it was a fake. The guy refunded my money immediately but eBay didn't really give a crap.

      • +3

A one day only, in-store only deal is the reason you've negged this?

      • lol fail this is ozbargain, even if it were for other states, there would be a shipping charge.

      • +1

Only 100 available in-store only for that particular deal. Apparently there are 100s available for this deal shipped to your door.

        • +1

Please be assured that we have enough (far more than 100+) for this deal to fulfill your need :)

    • +1

I've never seen 8GB for that price (not to mention, with free shipping on top)!

  • will u have a sale on sd cards any time soon?

    • It's hard to say to be honest as it depends on many factors. But if there's enough interest in a specific SD card we will try to make it a special deal (although most of our flash memory items are already among the cheapest (AND genuine, local stock) ones in comparison sites).

  • Would you be able to do a better deal on the 8GB flash drives?

    • $18.50 delivered is currently the best we can offer. I'd suggest you to go to the 16GB one for better $ per GB.

  • +3

Sandisk make good flash drives. I bought the kingston for $13 and found the transfer rates were subpar - during a data transfer, there are 5-10s pauses for some reason. I can't use it with Win 7 as a readyboost device as it's too slow. If I didn't have the Kingston already, I'd get the sandisk even though it's slightly more expensive.

    • totally agree with you. same boat

  • Is there any hole or something that can make it attached with the keys? That's what I used to do. Or can you please give me a link which shows more pictures of this usb?
I think the picture on your website is the picture for Sandisk Cruzer not Cruzer Micro. They seem to be two different models.
    Thanks!

    • This flash drive has no hole to attach key ring like the old series. And yes, this is actually the Cruzer (only), not the old Cruzer Micro one.

More info and pictures of this new series: http://www.sandisk.com.au/products/usb-flash-drives/sandisk-…

      Cheers,

      • Thanks. I am going to place an order right now.
How long will it take for me to receive it in Melbourne Metropolitan area?

        • You are welcome. And thank you for your order. We use Australia Post and it should take only one day to deliver to Melbourne metro area (we are in Maidstone).

However consider the number of orders we have received, maybe not all of them will be posted tomorrow. But the dispatching team will work overtime to ensure all these orders will be posted in the earliest time.

          Cheers,

  • As noted previously, does not come with keyhole/any hole/lanyard so make them not so convenient for some people… Wonder why Sandisk do not have some sort of holes?

    • +1

Probably try to make it look nicer. Actually there is one hole on the back of the usb. But this hole is a bit hard to attach on key rings. Just google sandisk cruzer new design and you will find it. The new model indeed looks nicer.

    • Yes, I personally think a real key ring hole will be handy, but also not sure why SanDisk took it out of this new design, probably to make it nicer like xint27 said.

      Cheers,
      Peter @ IT Device

      • Yes thanks. DOES have a tiny hole for some lanyard/cords. One of the links from youtube for those interesting.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1cpVPVxawE&feature=related

        • Thanks for the video link. Interesting. It's a shame that I didn't known it before. Most of the time I only look at these flash drives in their sealed retail boxes.

          Cheers,

  • any plans to stock/sell the faster SanDisk Extreme Contours?

    • We carry full range of consumer products from SanDisk Australia. But the Extreme Contours is not available at the moment.

      Cheers,

Great job answering the questions in this thread IT Device. Appreciate it. Also ordered one :)

    • agree!

    • Thanks for your support :)

  • I got mine USB sticks under deals:
    1. 8 GB kingston 8 gb from Dealsdirect for 17 delivered last month.
    2. 16 GB mini cruzer from JW computer Bankstown for 27 dollars, pickup last week.

Still competitive prices than the superstores. Same prices compared to eBay from Australian power sellers.

Your SSL certs are broken, no padlock in IE8 on the credit card screen, and a broken HTTPS page in Chrome. I was about to complete the order but there's no way I'm sending my CC details in clear text across the net.

I will remove my neg when you fix your site.

    • +1

No padlock in Safari either. Kinda the basics for internet selling is to have a secure checkout.

      • +1

Thanks wfdTamar - glad to hear it's not just my two browsers.

To anyone that has already purchased from this site - keep a close eye on your credit card statements for the next few months.

      • We have fixed the problem. The padlock should now be displayed properly on all browsers. Could you please try again?

        Cheers,

        • Thanks guys, much appreciated. I've revoked my neg and will go complete my order.

    • Our apology for the inconvenience. The problem seems to be because the page contains both secured information (customer data) and unsecured data (products images, ads…). Our technical team has been informed and will look into it to fix or 'clean up' the unsecured data from the checkout pages.

However, the following things are assured:

      • Our HTTPS connection is provided by Ilisys (http://www.ilisys.com.au/), our payment gateway is provided by Camtech (http://www.camtech.com.au/), the leading solution providers in Australia.

      • All customer data, including credit card details, are always encrypted and sent via HTTPS securely (Please click on the 'broken' padlock on your browser and you'll see more about the certification).

      • The credit card number is not only encrypted before being sent, but also before being saved into our system and even us have no way to reveal it.

Once again thank you for raising up the problem. We will try to have it resolved asap to make our customers more comfortable buying from us.

      Regards,

      • Thanks for jumping onto this quickly. As I said, when the page is fixed, I'll complete my order (32GB here).

        Cheers, wedge.

        • In the mean time you could use the paypal option. It kicks you over to another site, which seemed secure to me (although I admit I wasn't looking too closely).

        • I am getting the padlock on google chrome now. Seems secure. :)

        • You are welcome. And please feel free to finish your order as the problem is now fixed. To be honest your question is really appreciated, as we have not fully been aware of this problem before.

          Cheers,

    • I used paypal. I suppose I shouldn't be worried about this, should I?

      • Yes absolutely. It's because your transaction is all done in and by PayPal sites. I suppose we should trust PayPal, shouldn't we? :)

        Cheers,

    • We have fixed the problem. The padlock should now be displayed properly on all browsers. Could you please try again?

      Cheers,

      • Yes, fixed for me with Safari. Good work.

        • Thank you for your confirmation and contribution to the matter.

  • Every sandisk usb i have had on my keyring has died, maybe it has been removed because i keep sending mine in for warranty lol

    • Did you new brand ones or were they repaired?

  • Thank you all for your massive support. Our dispatching team must be exhausted today. Just a few notes regarding payments though:

    • For those who paid via Bank deposit: payment will take about 2 business days to be cleared. Your item will be shipped shortly after we receive the payment from you.

    • For those who paid via Credit Card: Credit Card is NOT accepted for international orders (only PayPal and Bank deposit are accepted). We will refund the payment and cancel these orders. Our apology for the inconvenience.

    • For those who paid via PayPal: to protect our customers and our self, we can only ship to PayPal registered address. If your shipping address is different from the PayPal registered address, the order will be held on, and you will be requested to either change the shipping address to the PayPal one, or update the PayPal address to match your shipping address (we will refund the original payment for you to pay again with the updated PayPal address in the latter).

  • anyone know what the read/write speeds are on these drives?

    • I would also like to know this. I recently bought an 8GB Sandisk Cruzer (admittedly from eBay). I am sure its genuine but it only writes at 4 MB/s. That is pathetic in this day and age!

      • So you haven't confirmed that it's genuine you just suspect it..

      • Got one from MSY a few months ago. It also writes at 4MB/s.

  • Have tried to google but limited reviews/comparisons. But found that the 32G ones are quire slow from most feedbacks… Note that within the same series, 4G and 32G may have different write/read/copy speed (usually the later is slower)

  • I just realised that they double charged me, and processed my order twice, after my first payment failed (and I subsequently transferred money across to pay for it).

I've sent them and email, and am hopeful that the issue will be resolved, but nevertheless, was anyone else double charged after their first payment failed?

    • Hi mein,
I've replied your email. Please print out the post recall label sent to you and send your 'duplicated' item back to us at free extra fee charged. We will refund you in full once the duplicated item arrive.

      Cheers,
      Peter @ IT Device

Got my Sandisk Cruzer 16Gb yesterday . First of all, thanks to the seller for no-fuss purchase and shipping. Great value and all easy.

    Mini review.

I had 512Mb Cruzer of the earlier design few years ago and that was a hard working flash disk. My current 8Gb Cruzer Contour is solid and also a nice one, I use it for a few years now.

This newish 16gb Cruzer, however, have a somewhat cheap plastic feel to it, sharp edges, hollow sound.
From Sandisk product page: “The SanDisk Cruzer USB Flash Drive has been newly redesigned (for March 2009) with a contemporary look as part of the new SanDisk USB family of flash drives in a portable, reliable form factor.” Well, $30 is fine if it can deliver.

    Tests.

Disk comes pre-formatted with FAT32, showing as 14.90Gb. Testing showed following:

USBdeview (few minutes): 15.80MB/s reads, 3.47MB/s writes
Flashnul (test 1, few hours, full surface, average speeds): 18 Mb/s reads, 4.24 Mb/s writes
Flashnul (test 2, few hours, full surface, average speeds): 18 Mb/s reads, 4.25 Mb/s writes
    CrystalDiskMark(30 minutes, 1000Mb x 5, sequential): 18.04 MB/s reads, 4.5 MB/s writes

Average and not very impressive. Could’ve been 24/8 at least for this model.

I did also make sure that I can fill all the 16Gb on the disk without corruption of files (as it happens with fake 2Gb drives formatted as 16Gb). For that I created four 3.9Gb files on a local disk and copied it across filling all the space on USB. I then downloaded those back to local disk to a different folder. After that I calculated md5 hashes for two sets of files and compared. They were same. That proved that there was no corruption and full 16Gb of space is available. Flashnul tests above also done write and read verification, but I just wanted to double check that.

    Fishy stuff.

Drop out: after a first quick speed test, I started copying two 1Gb files to USB disk simultaneously. It went for some time and then stopped after 2 minutes. Device manager showed disk partition as unallocated and I could not browse the disk anymore. Not a good start, didn’t happen with my flash USBs before. Re-plugging the drive brought it back online. Could be a USB port issue or disk issue, however, I didn’t have any port issues before.

Warranty: USB disk packaging states “Five-Year Limited Warranty” at the back whereas Sandisk web site is saying “2 year limited warranty for a SanDisk Cruzer USB flash drive (new design)”. Which one is true? 5-year is only for a Titanium version according to the website and mine is not that.
    http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2446/kw/SanDis…

No specs: Data sheet provided for a download from SanDisk website is a total joke: pdf of an awful quality, hardly readable and with absolutely 0 technical information about the device. Have a laugh yourself:
    http://www.sandisk.com/media/416758/usb_cruzer_data_sheet.pd…

    Conclusion.

    Is disk genuine?
Most likely so, will give it 89% of confidence as I am not impressed with the speed and build quality. However, all tests are passed fine and size looks right.

Am I a happy owner now?
Well, I would think more before buying this model again. Value is there, that for sure, but warranty is less than that those of a higher quality ones. So, hopefully it will last for 2+ years and the famous quote will not be applicable to my experience: “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten”.

    • Thank you for the very detailed and interesting review. It's much appreciated. We have never done an 'official test' for this series, and definitely will refer our buyers to this review for those who need to know more before making their decisions.
