  • any idea if available for pickup in store too?

    • It's also my concern as if the sim arrives late we won't get the deal we want!

    • I went to a store to see if I could get one and they said they weren't offering it.

    • Other Optus phone deal was updated to include Broadband after this deal was posted.

  • they must be getting desperate i was on online chat and got offered 15gig data unlimited calls and text 300 international minutes and optus sport for $30 a month on 12 month contract i declined.

    • that is quite a good deal!

    • I got offered the $30 one for $18.75 on a 12 month plan I declined too, I always buy sims on specials :)

Not this again. Last time I ordered this I got a dud sim card and took forever to resolve.

Same here…got dud sim on last $10/14GB online deal. To solve, the store said to follow a certain procedure, as they could not simply give me a replacement $30 sim. Yet the online optus support (if you can call it that) said that procedure was not valid when I tried to transfer credit to the $2 sim the store gave me. Lots of time wasting. Not a good look for Optus.

I took this offer - it was $10 for 14GB.

The sim was out of date - it took over an hour online, 2 visits to a store and a complaint to paypal .

All they gave me was $5 of credit and 3GB of data .

Still hasn't been resolved with paypal.

I hate to think how much hassle it would be if you were stuck on a contract with this crowd and you had problem.

    • That was a pain in the a))

    • I know people who have had worse still. No credit, refund or PayPal to dispute.

      • Just got a refund from paypal.

I think there must have been a number of disputes raised in relation to this poxy deal.

BTW you need to get this delivered before Friday (Thursday in Melbourne due to holiday) to get the extra 10Gb as you have to activate before Oct1. If not, you will just get 4GB

That's if the SIM even works. As per comments above, you may we'll need to factor in another couple of hours for fluffing around, beating around the bush, calling optus, going in store multiple times, and generally getting screwed around. Bit of a flop.

  • My SIM is getting delivered to me today. You can track your order here (https://optus.startrack.com.au/)
Enter your order number into the text box.

SIM doesnt work. Optus are really failing recently

    • Mine doesn't work also, did you end up getting it sorted?

      • +2

Well I bought three and they all failed to activate, so after getting the run around from Optus chat I just went to Officeworks and price matched and then Paypal disputed the Optus ones. They wanted me to go to the Optus shop but that is a major PITA.

  • Mine was sorted in half hour. Gone to the shops, staff member was very helpful thankfully. I warned her that she should expect a lot of customers with the exact same issue calling up the next couple of days

Not the first time I've had issue with optus. I actually lost a phone number when they failed to port to a new service.

    • I just lost my long held number last week - case is at the TIO now.
They actually ported my good old Optus number from the phone I was calling in on, rather than the number I was talking about. Amazing.

  • Same. SIM failed to activate, and now there's no way I'll be able to activate before 1 October. What utter rubbish. How can they ship blocked SIM after blocked SIM?

Edit: I have also filed a complaint with the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman.

Edit 2: I'm seriously sick of Telcos. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Telstra yesterday online to find out that their online chat rep had simply lied to me about a deal that she was going to organise for me, and now an hour with Optus online chat to simply be referred to a call centre number that won't open until Monday. Very unhappy.

  • We are having trouble validating the SIM number, please try again or try using another SIM card. Reference: PPACT-SIMVAL-0008

Argh, rep told me that I must bring it into an Optus store…too much effort. Paypal it is!

  • Same, what a pain in the butt
Did the PayPal refund come through quickly?

Finally got it sorted with a $2 replacement sim but had to follow up on chat as they only applied 6GB, the second agent gave me another 14GB, so 20GB in total but the best thing is the expiry date is 6/04/18.

Under my account using the Optus dashboard the second agent applied the 14GB by using an $80 recharge which gives you 14GB and 186 days expiry, so might be worthwhile chasing up if you haven't already done so.

    • can you provide any of the conversation? did you get the $2 replacement from optus or somewhere else?

      • +1

You have to go to an Optus store for the new sim, the staff have to sight/check the invalid sim. Then make sure the staff call customer service while you are there so they can verify that the sim is faulty to the call centre.

They will then activate the new sim and the call centre will put a note to your account for the 14GB credit as it takes 48hrs for the new service to be reflected on their system. Then after 48 hrs contact chat ask them to read the notes to the account and they will apply the credit.
