Can you buy it on $40? If not, what is your point?
wow - lots of negs
my point was, as clearly stated, that this is probably a good discount, and probably a good vac, but do we (as the user) need to pay $600 for an item (any item) that costs a tiny fraction of that price to produce?
it reminds me of airbags, that cost approx $1000 each to replace, if required, but actually cost the car manufacturer $30 to purchase from the airbag manufacturer
Don't bother getting upset with Dyson/ Apple/VW fanbois
yeh - wasn't aware vacs had such a following !
@oscargamer: Suckers for suckers?
while I agree the price is high, surely the company deserves to get some cash back for research and development
Whilst I agree to some degree, the cost of manufacturer is never the cost of the product. R & D, design, marketing and many more small components are part of the "cost" to a company. It is not meaningful to state the "cost of manufacturer" when it isn't the true cost of the product. Do Dyson and Apple have a big margin? Probably. Is the margin/profit $799 (RRP of the V8 Absolute) - $40 (your guesstimate cost of manufacturer)? No.
I should have looked at this website before blowing my savings on the Vacuum. But hey, they are pretty nice pieces of kit and it will suit my apartment.

Thanks OP,
i missed the earlier deal from Dyson Ebay, the price was cheaper by $5 but this is good enough.
PS : its way better than they Dyson warehouse sale in Melbourne which sold the same vacuum for $799
How does Dyson get away with any of their pricings? They are not complicated constructions, and mass produced, sold world-wide. Input materials and componentry way less than $50, probably less than $20. Most expensive item would be the battery.
Same way Apple gets away with it
Is this cheapest price ever?
Nope this was https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/329743 $455 @ shopmonk
That's a v6 not a v8
