This looks quite good. Pity about no headphone jack though.

  • Is this related to the rumours about HTC being bought out?

Not rumour, nor is whole HTC sold. It's phone OEM arm sold to Google. Announced today.

I wonder at this price would it be available via ebay for extra 18% discount??

    • +1

It'll be around $370 for grey import

I wish the HTC U11 will down to this price level after HTC is being sold to Google.

    • might be increased?

    • I don't see how Google investing $1.1 billion in HTC, making HTC the most financially secure it's been in years, would drive down prices on current HTC handsets?

HTC… leave me alone. I was suffered 1 1/2 years with HTC Desire HD which in that time it claimed is a most advanced high tech mobile far better than iPhone. End up battery only last less than 2 hrs, within 2 years sudden breakdown and not able turn on. Bring to service centre, after open up n checked, support said no spare park for repair…. awful experience.

It's still amazing that they could fit an entire park in the phone tho

    • It was truly a terrible phone for battery life. But to be fair only since the Note 2 has acceptable battery life been a real thing.

My earspeaker crackled all the time. I tried three times to get it sent for repair via Vodafone but they wouldn’t accept it as it was intermittent problem. They were very much vodafail at the time.

      The original desire was awesome.

I had shelled out over 1k for the first android phone and it was made by HTC. Worth every cent to break free from the fruit torture.
Bought 2 more, the last one being a Velocity, first one on the 4G network and had a ball for ages until the fruit freaks finally took the bandwidth away.
The Velocity was amazing: If 4G was not available it could use 2 parallel 3G+ channels and the speed never let me down. It could navigate without draining the battery on the gps and batteries were so cheap I went thru a few. Going to Samsung S6 gave me a better camera, faster processor nfc but the darn thing is an absolute pain for navigating and just out of warranty the charge socket died, I enjoy wireless charging but the battery bulged and this cracked the glass over the screen.
Dying for something new might consider HTC anytime again!

What about the Huawei Mate 9?

Only another $200 but gets 4000mAH and a bunch better specs?

    • Mate 10 coming out soon, for those interested in the latest version.

    • Currently have it…fantastic battery life ! Plus fast charging

      • Ended up picking it up today. Good little rig for the money!

Just to be picky, it looks like the saving is $200, not $300.

  • LOL, I remember when JB HiFi had a sale on it for a modest $999 not too long ago.

  • This or Oneplus 5?

    • +1

oneplus5 .. :) although i love sense UI .. this was not a great phone.

Keep in mind this is the Ultra, not the U11. The Ultra was not very well received.

  • Anyone know if either sellers version is unbranded? Makes for much faster updates, learned my lesson with Telstra HTC 10.
