SYD/MEL/BRIS to Los Angeles Flying Air New Zealand in Business Class from $1111.74 Return @ IWTF

2250

Edit 7:50am** - Fares are all gone. Well done to all those that managed to get on board while it was live! Hopefully everyone get's their eticket and has a great trip! Hopefully won't be reading any horror stories in the forum.

Edit** 6:30am - Still heaps of tickets around the $1212 mark and some at the original price. Dates are becoming scarce though! I'm off to bed now. Mods can you please mark as expired once ALL fares have dried up?. Good luck all!!

Edit** 6am - They are slowly being gobbled up. Prices are slowly increasing but still some great bargains to be had.

Doubt these amazing fares will last long so get in quick!!!

Seems to be heaps of available dates spread out over next year.

These fares also can also be had at Expedia for a similar price, however I like supporting IWTF due to him being an active OzB member. Expedia @ $1118 (plus 0.70% cashback via cashrewards) https://imgur.com/a/N4dC8

Pitty can't earn velocity status or points from November 2017 on Air New Zealand. All in all, couldn't resist booking this amazing fare. (Book now, think later) Books into Z class.
Let's hope Air New Zealand honours this.

Head over in October for a status run before they can the status earn? http://iwantthatflight.com.au/flight.ashx?&oc=MEL&dc=LAX&dd=…

      • I am in Russia at the moment, hence why up at this time and going through ozbargain. I wish I can take another leave this soon for a status run.

        • +1

I was up watching NFL. Took me a while to pull the trigger!

      • Geez 480 SC credit with one flight is bloody amazing!

    • Just as I thought.

      Dear Expedia.com.au Traveller,

We have received notice from Air New Zealand that they have:

      • Cancelled 4 of your flights.
      • +1

Yep Lucky reported it over at OMAAT. I would've thought AirNZ would've honoured the etickets at least. Very, very disappointing. Must've just been too great of a loss to write off.

  • +1

This is insane! Pity just got back from 6 weeks in Europe…

    • +7

      Treat yo self!

  • +1

Haven't even got back to work yet… Soooooooo tempted though!

    • +1

I'm off to bed soon and I highly doubt these will be available when I wake up. There will be some happy OzBargainers, and some pissed off ones no doubt thinking it was all a scam!

  • Does this fall under free cancellation if we changed our mind later?

    • It appears to be booked in Z class, which I think I matched the below on AirNZ website (however obviously as booking through an agent you should read their T&C very carefully before booking as you may have to make all changes through the OTA instead of AirNZ)

Travel on our Business Saver Max fare to our long haul destinations and enjoy the luxury of Business Class or Business Premier.

        • +3

          'tis the OzBargain way!

    • +2

You gotta worry about air New Zealand changing their mind first

Awesome find! Jealous of the people who are booking this, but hope they enjoy it :)

  • +1

    Thanks OP, absolutely fantastic deal

  • +1

Just tried through IWTF, selected STA as I know that company, got all the way through to payment then they tried to up the price by 17000. Went back and selected bestjet, seemed to work.
    Good luck

    • A friend booked through expedia.com.au as well without hassle!

    • +3

Got the invoice and eticket already. Logged into Air-NZ wed site to change seats.
      Lets hope it stays confirmed

      • From memory with these kind of things, you're usually safe when the eticket is issued?

      • Who did you book through?

        • +1

Bestjet. Got invoice emailed in 30 seconds, tickets within 5mins

        • @Coffeesnod8: I booked through fly360 (they were cheapest). Got invoice immediately but no etickets yet.

        • @AshSet: fingers crossed

  • +9

    About to go bed.
    $1111 Oz to LA return.
    So?
    Look again.
    Business class.
    Holy shit.
    Well done OP.

    • +2

      About to go bed.

probably can on the flight too

    • Same to me when I woke up, but already expired.

  • Going to try this the other way to see if great grandma will come and visit from LA - do fares usually work like that?

    • Not usually sorry.

      • yeh had a good search but no luck. Bum, that's a shame. Great deal otherwise!

  • Is there a list of all available dates anywhere? I assume there are more than just the ones linked.

    • +1

There isn't sorry. I found those dates above using the IWTF search system….You might just have to have a play and find some…I would hurry though as they seem to be selling quick and prices are going up!

  • cant get to get the price for 4 tickets from Melbourne, anyone had any luck?

  • nah all fixed now by the looks :(
    dammit!

  • Wow…

  • -5

Op, anything for March/April/May 18? From Mel.

  • if anyone can confirm that there are more than 1 seat on same flight at a bargain price please let me know.. so far i've only seen singles

  • Has anyone booked thru Cheapoair? Are they reliable? Is it advisable to take Protection Plan? Stated in CheapOair terms Protection is for resident/citizen of USA.

  • +1

Thanks OP but need this for 5 people and I've been trying since you posted - not happening.

To those you got some tickets - Great work!

    • +3

Same here mate, managed to find 4 tickets but that was it. This is a great find OP

  • Brisbane: 30 Apr 2018 to 17 May 2018 - $1229

    http://iwantthatflight.com.au/flight.ashx?oc=BNE&dc=LAX&dd=3…

  • I booked through fly360. Anyone got their etickets yet?

  • All gone

    • Not true. I just booked one 1 minute ago.

      • Single or more? What dates?

        • 1 person from MEL, Dep. Thu 12/Jul/2018 Ret. Thu 26/Jul/2018

        • @seanneko: Well done. I was looking for 2 from Sydney so I believe all Sydney flights are gone, even singles.

  • Expired!

  • Price Error?

    • Yes it was human pricing error

  • jealous lol

  • Wow well done to everyone who managed to get this!! So jealous even though I have a trip booked for December I would go again at this price!!

  • I booked with flyfar around 6:30, payment went through but i didn't get booking confirmation or e-ticket etc.
Called them up and they couldn't do the ~$1,200 booking price, so agreed to refund me, minus the $25 booking fee of course :\

    • Oh that sucks. I booked through Fly360, they might do the same too. Damn.

      • With these sort of deals always better to go through Expedia Australia whom ticketed a lot of people straight away.

        • I've learned that now. I booked with fly360 as expedia were about $80 per ticket dearer hence went with the cheapest. I had 3 tix to book.

        • Yeah i tried a few other sites (departing Sydney Feb 2 - Feb 22) but the prices went up when i clicked through.

    • -3

I was so jealous an hour ago but not anymore since it appears this was a scam. Nice way for these site to make $25 for nothing. LoL

      • Considering many people have already been ticketed by Expedia and another above by BestJet it seems far from a scam.

        • Perhaps the benefit of booking via a large site as they will generally honor price errors. Not so little sites and withhold a fee. Well done to all those that got lucky.

    • +6

If they can't deliver what they advertised/ you booked they shouldn't charge a fee. (Unless that was their specific offer that they don't guarantee prices, only advertise and then you pay them to look - but it doesn't sound like that.)

      I'd challenge them on that.

      • +2

Definitely, who pays $25 for another website's mistake?!

  • That's insane.. I would have instant booked.. I hate flying, but business class for that price i'd happily go!

  • Saw this was posted on FlyerTalk and a lot of people have already received their tickets. Congrats to all that got in on this one. Reminds me of the Virgin Australia Round the World Business for $3499. You have buy first and then think about it later 😊

  • +15

next time a deal like this pops up I'll just book instantly. by the time i consulted the wife(then she goes and googles the seating layout, what plane it is, time of flight, foods, etc) and.. Its Gone

    • +1

      Ouch!

    • HAHAH gota be on to. last week missed the Qantas now this. i dont think i will be able to get deals

      • what was the qantas one?

        • that was the economy one for $832

        • @deeds:

oooohh i thought i missed some ridic business deal.

I am so salty about missing this one, i actually NEED to be in LA for a wedding and i cant really afford to go so this would have been perfect

        • +2

me too other than wedding part lol

        • +2

If you cant afford the economy ticket then how were you going to afford this, this is more than the cheapest economy.

        • @davem: actually there was an LA sale last week for like $940, i can "afford" it but i dont have the cash to spend on that right now

    • I would book a ticket and go by myself. To cheap and too good of a deal to pass up..

    • It's business class, everything is better than economy so why do research :)

  • Amazing deal OP! Well done to all those who were able to get the deal.

Just checked my eticket from AirNZ and the first name and middle name and connected together (no space between), which I thought was odd. Called up AirNZ, they said that was fine and shouldn't be an issue.

Is that happening to anyone else with tickets already?
