Put stuff in pot, cook on the stove for 10-20 min, then put the pot in the vacuum cooker and leave it there while it cooks through. Good for camping. I'm gonna buy 1.

a 6l dreampot is $295
A few years ago I bought a japanese made one overseas for around $160 AUD. Last year in one of those $2 type variety Asian shops I saw a chinese made one in Sydney for around $40.
I use it at home to make casseroles or stews. Boil it up for around 20 mins then let it sit in the vacuum pot for 2-3hrs.
OK, it seems I paid around $260 for that japanese vacuum pot. LOL, I wouldn't have agreed to it if I was given that figure back then.
Anything a Slow Cooker can do, this beauty can do it without as much power.

The reviews on the net say that the better quality brands (more $$) have a strong vacuum suction lid, which prevents leakage if you want to use it for transporting hot food. Doesn't look like this one has that. But still, a good starter pot.
