Hmm quite a few reports about the lid on that kettle opening by itself during boiling process. https://www.productreview.com.au/p/breville-bke290-crystal-c…

    • Please do not get this kettle!!!!!!!
I got this in January this year and it opens after boiling
After 3 months it opened during boiling!!!!!! Which was dangerous
I returned it and it continued to happened!
Please do not buy this kettleeeeeee

      • +4

You retunred it and it continued to open? O.O

        • +1

          You retunred it

          Yes, he re-tunred it.

        • @Scab:
Returned it, got a new one, thinking it was a batch problem, new one was worse, changed again

        • @djones145:

Who did you return it to, David Jones?

        • @Scab:
          Myer lol

It's funny, my nick is after dean jones the cricketer lolz

        • @djones145:

You returned it to Dean Jones?

  • Soft Open Lid prevents hot water splash back

How is that even a problem that it needs a special feature?

    • Some of them pop open quite violently, spraying hot water everywhere.

      • Never had or seen an electric kettle where they "pop open violently".

        This is just another gimmick.

        • Well, I have. Common sense usually does the trick, but for some people it may be an issue. But yea, definitely not a deal breaker.

Wish I could negative this deal, do not buy this kettle! I had to return it due to the top opening during boiling. Got a sunbeam one, currently ok. Had a Kmart one for 5 years, similar design, no issues

      Got a sunbeam one

Where did you buy it from, David Jones?

      • +3

There's no other store like it

      • Myer, I never buy anything from my store, too over priced

  • Does it connect to a smart app?

Get the ALDI one, been great for a year for me

    • Also the current Aldi glass kettle also has a 3 year warranty - so any dramas you get your money back.

  • Productreviews has a lot of bad reviews for lid problems.

    • Seems to be a generic problem for ALL glass kettles.

I have a generic one (not this brand) from kmart and it always needs replacing with lid not working or coming apart after a year or so. Still a great kettle despite that, so I always replace under warranty or buy a replacement.

  • Strange …. we have this kettle for more than 3 years or may be even 4 yrs
no issue on the lid at all
we need to replace it now as the soft cloth on the opening are all gone

I don't think she read the review before buying….

  • I have the Bellini digital kettle from Target and its working fine from past 2 years.

Waiting for the dyson v8 absolute to pop up at a good price…..

  • Wife went to TGG to check out the dc58, but they say that if you turn in any old (any brand) vac, they give you $200 off a Dyson v7 animal or V8. The V7 is $549. Now we are considering the v7…

    • I threw away an old crappy vac. I should have kept it.

  • The thermostat on this kettle will fail within 2 years. Checkout whirlpool for complaints.

  • I would prefer a levitation kettle

  • I have the BKE595. No problems apart from the cover near the switch down the bottom lifting because the clips broke inside. Fixed with some hot glue.
