  • Damn! That's cheap. I have the 2-battery charger that I bought a while ago for more than this price. I might get this one too.

PS: It's coming up as $19.82 for me though when I click on the link, unless I'm doing something wrong.

Change the currency to USD as mentioned in the description.

  • So how long does it take to charge say 4x 2100mAh AA ?

    • +1

Well, it takes me about 2-3hrs to charge 2x3000mAh 18650's, but thats with a 4-5 year old version without the 1500amp fast charge for batteries this one boasts.
I think I might get it based on that fact alone.

EDIT: Fast-Charging is limited to one slot.. and also this one powers slots differently to mine, my estimation would actually be around the 6 hour mark for all 4.
EDIT #2: I'm not going to get it after looking at it in depth and having a couple reviews in the background… The D4 is by far the better product and it will last you so long that your investment will be given back many many times over.

    • +1

For NiMh batteries, the I4 will charge 1-2 batteries at 500mA, so just under 6 hours for 2100mAh batteries. For 3-4 batteries the charge current drops to 375mA, so just under 8 hours.

For NiMh batteries, the I4 is probably the slowest smart charger that has been on OzBargain. That's both good and bad - the good is that the batteries will stay cool during charging, so you'll probably get the rated cycle life from the batteries. The bad is the inconvenience of a long charge cycle, you have to plan ahead much more than with a typical 3-4 hour smart charger.

The Nitecore D4 is a little faster for 1-2 batteries at 750mA, but the same 375mA for 3-4 batteries. The D4 also has a selectable 300mA setting, which is good for AAA batteries. The I4 doesn't have this.

      • That doesn't sound impressive at all.

I would buy the Ikea charger for $15.

        • yes very underwhelming.

I've got a rapid charge varta one which does 2 AA in 30-40mins.
alas it's only take 2 batts.

With our supply of eneloops we just rotate the batteries through and do overnight charges. It's kind of like why I don't care if my USB chargers at home don't have QC - I'll be charging my phone overnight 99% of the time anyway (car and powerbank do though).

  • 1/3 of the price of nitecore sc4

    • I recently jumped on the eneloop bandwagon, I got two family packs with chargers. Should I be upgrading? To this?

      • +1

Nah i'll just get a LiitoKala lii-500 about $20 from aliexpress. Equivalent or better than a D4.

  • Is it 2014 or 2017 version?

    • it's 2017 version

      • +1

Hello, any chance we could see a special deal on the D4? (Currently $45.05 Delivered) I know its already discounted but it would be nice to see the same sort of discount rate for it (50% to bring it under $30 or even the 69% this is listed at heh). The D4 deal will fly off the shelves if you ask me ..and definitely strengthen a relationship with OZB ;)

        • There was a deal for D4 on Gearbest last Sunday. Around $27 total with Priority shipping.

        • @hawkeye10: Damnit!

        • @dfaktz:

Not sure how much freight is as I don't have an account with these guys but found the following that might be worth checking into: http://www.lightinthebox.com/nitecore-d4-charger-for-imr-li-…

          Currently coming up as US$26

        • @Jonc: That's the one I'm referring to..
(Oh I see why you might have thought different, for some reason the currency conversion the site uses is terrible for USD->AUD)

        • +3

@dfaktz: GearBest is offering it at $20.99 USD with cf57am coupon code.

PS: I'm not an affiliate of Gearbest or profit from the given coupon, don't know why the previous message is unpublished. The code came from here despite marked as expired.

@O O: Thankyou! (and to attempt to answer your question as a non-mod, probably the same thing that I originally thought about the comment, completely random code that looks like a referral code for deals).

        • @O O:

Can you request Australian plug from gearbest?

        • +1

@JustinOzBargain: You can PM GearBest to see if she can help you, or you can get a figure 8 power cord from 2 dollar shop.

        • @O O: thanks buddy 👍

  • What AA and AAA batteries do people recommend to go with this?

    • +2

From brick and mortar, Ikea Laddas (the higher capacity ones) are good. Aldi activ energy ones also seem to have decent feedback. Otherwise the ones that I am aware of but likely to have to buy online are Tenergy cells which have good rep, and if course the OzB currency, eneloops.

    • Eneloop, I got mine from groupon with 15% off.

The Ikea ones a reasonable price from memory and have good feedback

    • +2

This charger has too high a current for AAA batteries, unless you always remember to charge four batteries at a time. With four batteries, all will charge at 375mA which is a little high but okay. For three or fewer batteries, some or all will be charged at 500mA, which is too high a current for AAA batteries, it will shorten their life.

  • OK, not sure if this is the same charger (Intellicharger, is this the same?), but this reviewer says there's a heat issue @ 8:42 mark. Don't know.

  • Can this be used to charge 18650 batteries?

    • +2

      yes

    • Can u charge energizer non rechargeable battery?

      Nope.

  • -1

Can u charge energizer non rechargeable battery?

    • +1

You cannot. Do not even attempt it.

      • -1

Do you know any charger can do that?

        • The cell chemistry and structure do not allow for recharging. Just invest in proper NiMH rechargeable

        • @Fiximol: like aldi. Good value

        • Jesus. You want a device that can recharge a non-rechargeable battery?

Why don't you ask for a wallet with money that never runs out while you're at it?

        • +1

          Jesus

Yeah. No matter what difficult problems you may face, JESUS is the answer :)

        • There is the 'Mighty Charger':

          http://www.ebay.com/itm/MIGHTY-CHARGER-AS-SEEN-ON-TV-BRAND-N…

These were available at Dimmy's a while back for around $4. I posted that deal here on OzB at that time, and someone mentioned that they owned one/it worked, and someone else mentioned that there were some 'good reviews' out there for it.

    • I have this one and works pretty well. Managed to charge duracell/energiser ones at least 3-4 times…
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Alkaline-Ni-Cd-and-Ni-MH-AA-AAA-B…

      • Cheers

    • Yes you can with an alkaline battery charger. http://wattsclever.com.au/

      • Cheers

    • +1

      Lmao trolling much

    • Technically, yes, you need an alkaline battery charger. However, in Australia, it is not allowed to add alkaline type in the rechargeable batteries list of battery chargers. You will find some sellers sell alkaline battery charger, but you cannot find it being listed in the specification of the chargers.

  • +1

5.5% cashback with pricepal for anyone with that, slightly higher than cashrewards.

    • Thanks, it'd be nice if the highest cashback was always listed and not just (what it seems like) automatically what cashrewards gives.

  • +4

For anyone remotely curious about battery/health management I'd rather spend a bit more and get the D4 or a Littokala tbh. Or esp say if charging lithium ion batts. Just being able to see what the charger is doing helps with the safety aspect like if a cell is on the way out or not.

"Our friends at Lightinthebox are really keen to continue trying and build a good reputation amongst OzBargainers"

We thrive on competition at Ozbargain, and appreciate your focus on us. You will get a good reputation with deals and good support, as you are. Keep it coming;)

  • Any deal on D4? with Australia plug?

    • What is the different between i4 and D4?

      • Has a screen to show the status of your battery. That's the main difference.

        • Oh it has so much more than that, so much so that it's easier to look-up the specs or a comparison than me rattling off features/abilities from memory.

  • I personally like the look of D4 and I think it's showing in more detail about each battery LCD display in full details…

  • I wonder if this is a real Nitecore and not one of those counterfeits.

Can this seller guarantee "authentic Nitecore i4" and not counterfeit. $18.65 delivered seems way too cheap to be a authentic.

    • +2

Once you receive the charger there should be a validation code for you to verify.

      http://charger.nitecore.com/validation/

That being said lightinthebox has been legit for me so far. Just a little slow on delivery.

  • -1

It's still made in China….what difference does it make?

    • +2

Everything is made in China, including iPhones (and a big chunk of Samsung phones).

  • Can I charge eneloop batteries with this one. The one I have is overnight charger eneloop and doesn't work.

    • +1

      Yes of course.

  • afaik you are supposed to charge at 10% of battery mah rating, so for 2000mah battery max charge is 200ma.

  • Please a deal on D4 or SC4?

    • +1

GearBest is selling D4 at $20.99 USD with cf57am coupon code, and SC4 at $33.99 USD with NSC4 coupon code.

  • What advantages does this have over something like the IKEA Ladda Charger, other than pretty lights?

    http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/40241314/

    • I don't really have any evidence but different smart chargers are smart in different ways. Like my D4 can charge some batteries that my old Soshine smart charger errors out on.
