Was looking for PIA VPN and found this to be cheaper than the old deals posted on OZBARGAIN

Found the coupon in slickdeals but as it is banned gave the stacksocial link.

  • Awesome timing, I'm about to renew… But will this work with an existing account?

    • Nope,a new username and pin will be given upon redemption.

  • Not knowledgeable on VPNs but isn't those Windscribe lifetime $49 deals a better deal?

    • They all have different features and performance and reputation. So it depends what you want and trust.

    • fwiw PIA 'no logging claim' has withstood a FBI subpoena in 2016

    • PIA is an OzBargain favourite for a reason. Just like Eneloop's, QC35's, Connoisseur Gourmet Ice Cream and VOSS Glass water bottles.

Don't stress, get PIA and enjoy the Internet anonymously and get around geo-restrictions with ease.

      • But but I got the getflix VPN (takes time to setup though) … Do I need another VPN?

Bought the mibox from one of the deals here and I can't seem to stream shows

  • Thanks OP was waiting for a new sale for PIA :) Tried Nord and it was horrible. Kept disconnecting on my phone.

    • Can I ask you why do you need VPN on the phone do you uTorrent a lot from the phone?

I bought one from the last deal but I'm really trying hard to figure out the use cases except for when torrenting.

      • If your 4G is faster than your DSL at home, you could potentially stream content on your mobile to your TV via a HDMI adapter. A VPN on the mobile allows you to steam all sorts of content away from the prying eyes of our corporate and government overlords!

I travel a fair bit for work both nationally and internationally so always good to have vpn for hotel, airport, coffee shop wifi.

  • Mine doesn't need to be renewed for a few months. Can I keep this and renew it then?

EDIT: Don't worry I just seen this-

License deadline: redeem within 30 days of purchase

    • +1

The code must be used within 30days of purchase.

    • Internet and VPN deals are only going to get cheaper so don't worry about purchasing now there will be a cheaper deal tomorrow

  • Can anyone tell me if this work well with Terrarium TV on Android? Thanks

      works great :)

  • am i missing something says $59.95USD for me
even with the sign on promo code its $53.96

  • To anyone wondering how speeds are for geo-restriction streaming eg. US Netflix etc… my results from here to NYC http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6611182084.png

    • can you provide some more info on your speeds?

      • Where in Australia are you? Are you on cable or NBN?

      • PIA client or OpenVPN client?

      • If PIA client, what were your encryption settings on?

      • Max I get is 6-7mbs optus cable, very disappointed with speeds/performance

        • +1

I was getting 35-40mbps on Optus cable (but i've got the 100mbps speed pack) to both US West Coast Servers and Aus servers

Torrents easily get up to 1-2MB/s, but for some reason only if there is a single torrent downloading, anymore and they all tank to 200KB/s

No clue how danchoi is getting faster than that unless he's disabled the encryption stuff in the PIA client - which is entirely possible if all he's using it for is circumventing geo-restrictions

If your speeds are crappy, what i'd try is uninstalling the client, and then the TAP Network Adapter it installs. Then (assuming you need/want the encryption) just download the OpenVPN client instead and avoid their in-house one entirely, seemed to be smoother for me

Can any one confirm if they are still having problems with their AU servers?

I stopped using them because when connected to AU I was getting assigned US IP's. Cheers

    • I've been using PIA for about 5 months now on AU servers and haven't had any issues… knock on wood :)

      • Thanks for the reply, can you tell me if connected to AU and you go here https://www.iplocation.net/find-ip-address is it showing as an AU location?

        • Am from Melbourne, connected to the Sydney server and it says I'm in NSW (Same thing for the Melbourne server).

So yes, no issues for the past 10 months that I've been with PIA.

        • I can confirm that :)

        • @danchoi:

I probably should elaborate :). For the last 4 months when connected to the AU servers, Foxtel go would not work. Kept getting the error "Cannot use this service outside of Australia". I connected to PIA only a month and a half ago and still got the same problem and when I went investigating I saw that all the AU servers were routing via Brooklyn, US. If anyone has Foxtel Play they could test with that would be appreciated. Cheers

      • +1 Been using PIA for 12 months now. No issues with AU servers. About time for renewal, thanks op !

    • Yep my speeds are slow constantly, 6-7mbs max with 30mbs (cable)

    • Just did a speed test with NBN from Melbourne connecting to Melbourne:
      22.89 Mbps download without PIA
      18.94 Mbps download with PIA

I generally don't even enable the VPN, I just use their SOCKS5 proxy for protection.
