Got myself a couple of Aeropress Replacement Filter Packs for $5.59ea, normally $6.99

p.s. AeroPress itself is $39.99, normally $49.99 which is a great local price

    • overpriced plastic

It sure is, that said it makes a great coffee for me so I'm fine with that

Great device never travel without it. Try out the permanent steel filters and you may not look back. No paper taste, no waste and if you combine an ultra fine with a less fine filter (at the same time) it will create an even better crema imho.

      • I did try one a few years ago with a friends 'press, didn't think much of it, though that was probably because it wasn't fine enough as you allude to.

I've added the Altura steel filters to my Camel watchlist, might take a punt next time a good deal comes along, thanks

I use the altura ultra and crucial filters combined. This blocks water from dripping so I can do a longer soak before plunging. They work individually as well but really impressed with the combo.

"crema" and "aeropress" do not go together.

the aeropress does not create crema. it creates a few bubbles that pop almost immediately. this is not crema.

        • I get a thin crema top using the double steel filter combo I mentioned above. It's not espresso machine level but works for me.

You are not doing it right

        • @tith: what the??

        • +1

@tith: i used it for several months, different beans, grinds, everything. you can't crema an aeropress because you need pressure. it's a glorified french press (which you can achieve the same results with just by shorter brewing).

i'd say with steel filters you're basically using a french press filter with a plastic plunger.

but the variation in coffee snobbery depends on the snob's level of knowledge and narcissism.

  • Rays are Super Retail as well?

    • Yes

  • Anyone recommend buying hiking pants/shoes from here?

  • thanks got some firewood delivered

  • Every time there is sale the Coleman instant up northstar 10p darkroom tent goes from $699 to $1099. Not specific to Rays. Just every retailer I've been watching over the past few months.

  • Can anyone recommend a 4 person tent with good rain resistance, cheers

  • I ordered on Saturday, but didn't get a confirmation email by Monday morning. Instead, I got a "Your still have items in your cart" email, so I assumed the order had not gone through. I placed it again on Monday. Today I checked my credit card statement and I was charged twice. I called them up and found out that both orders had gone through and they had already shipped parts of both of them. They are going to try recalling the items from Aus Post, but otherwise they'll arrange a courier to pick them up after they arrive since there are no stores in WA to return them to. I ordered cast iron cookware, so their shipping costs aren't cheap.

Not great that the website didn't send me confirmation after the first order, but it's being handled well. Obviously I won't get a refund until after the goods are returned.
