$286 for QC25? I think you paid too much for them…
I know, I know. Only recently got into OzBargain.
Ah, where would life be without OzBargain?
Well… my wallet would certainly be heavier, but my quality of life would definitely be worse. Picked up some great things here (both in terms of physical items and financial knowledge) that I wouldn't have otherwise obtained.
Best investment of my time ever.Being called a Professional by Gerry Harvey? That's just priceless.
Say good bye to your bank account
if only the $250 QC35s are back again… :(
QC45s are due to be announced sometime soon.. hopefully another sale on the 35s when this happens :D
do you know if the next series are expected to have both wired+wireless?
good luck with that, the leaked pictures were labeled as a QC35 update. So likely not much change except a mystery button and they'll likely be labelled QC35II. It's not often Bose do a replacement within 18 months of release.
If I travel on a plane, am I better to get these over the 35's if I need to connect them to the entertainment in the plane?
QC35s also have a cable connection, all entertainment units take the cable, unsure if many if any will accept a bluetooth connection.. completely upto you, obviously these are cheaper at present and if you have no actual requirement for bluetooth then QC25 all the way
How about from a recharging aspect? I assume for QC25 you'll need to take out the AAA battery which QC35 would be plugging a recharge cable to the headphones?
Your thoughts are correct. QC25 battery is easily replaceable on a plane, QC35 would be slightly more problematic on a series of long flights
I'm on the same boat as you 31mop…
I can't decide between 25 v 35 for that exact reason. What I want to know for those that has the 35s…
Can you plug in the 35 via the charging port, and still listen and use the Noise Cancelling function?
Or is it one of those that when charging, you can't use it at all?@blacknwhite1:
The QC30 you cannot use and charge at the same time. I would think this holds true for the QC35's as well.
However, you can use the cable BUT you will NOT have access to the NC feature whilst charging.
Here's a general / alternate opinion if you're looking to buy headphones for flying.
I've got the Parrot Zik bluetooth headphones. They would be similar to the QC35. They're great at cancelling noise on flights, but recently I don't bring them with me.
I'd actually recommend a set of IEMs with foam tips. I've switched to this now, and find they block out the noise at least as well as active noise-cancelling headphones.
They have the other advantages of being:
- Portable
- Having better sound (depends on what you buy)
- Easier to fall asleep with on the planeThat 'cheapwun' dude on here sometimes would probably say something about being blasted with 2.4ghz with the QC35 as well lol
What are the best (quality/price) IEM's on the market right now?
Really depends on your budget and the music you listen to.
For around the same price as some of these ozbargain deals, the Shure SE215 is pretty well reviewed. It's a dynamic driver but is still known for it's excellent isolation. (BA drivers isolate better because they can be completely closed-off from the outside)
If you're able to extend the budget a little, I like the Shure SE535. It's quite neutral (which I like) and has a very wide sound-stage for an IEM. This is what I used last time I was on a flight, with the yellow foam tips.
Problem is that IEMs can be quite uncomfortable after a while, even with proper comply foam tips.
That was going to be my next question. Something wedged in your wear for a 20hr flight doesnt sound great
Bose QC20 provide the noise cancelling of the QC35s in an in-ear package. They're also the most comfortable ear buds I've ever used.
I sleep with them in on flights with NC on but no music playing. Wouldn't fly without them.
+1 because I didn't know about that product, cool.
However, I briefly had a set of these: http://www.sony.com.au/local/product/mdr-ex750naAnd I'm not personally convinced of the necessity of noice cancellation in In-Ear headsets.
The effect was minimal (although noticeable) on a flight (I tested them on a flight back from Japan).
I have found IEMs with isolating tips to be better**Unless you want to chat, like cut out the engine noise but people's voices in, that's where ANC is better.
The QC20's are amazing earbuds. The ANC is incredibly effective, like no other earbud I have ever tried and as good as the over-ear equivalents in terms of noise cancellation in my testing.
+as noted they are impressively comfortable. So much so you can fall asleep wearing them or leaning into them on a plane etc.
@webbj: I might have to try them…
Downside to them is the power pack/brick. Its built into the cable and an annoying placement/weight.
But absolutely, if you get the chance. Try some out. I never thought they would be able to do such noise cancellation without an over-ear, but the effect is really quite remarkable in my opinion.
If you really want these and you're willing to spend over $200, I would keep saving and get the 35s. In my opinion there is nothing like true wireless cans… there is a good reason Apple dropped the 3.5mm jack.
Yeah, because they bought out beats audio, which have the majority of the wireless headphone market.
The warranty is one year?
Bose becoming the new Samsonite ?
I don't rate the sound quality of these at all (or the QC35s for that matter), but the noise cancelling is excellent and almost a necessity if you fly long-haul often. I've flown a few hundred hours with mine over the past couple of years. Build quality has held up.
I really like that it takes AAA batteries — one battery lasts about 17-20 hours — having a few Eneloops in my bags means I can travel for a few months without worrying about recharging. And I don't have to worry about servicing the built-in battery a few years down the track.
I second this. Sound quality is meh. But comfort, noise-cancelling and AAA battery is all A+. I never use them at home, but for travelling they're great.
What would you recommend for sound quality?
For noise cancelling headphones or for normal ones?
I love my Fidelio X2s. But they're open cans, so mainly only for home use - or maybe work, if you have some privacy or amenable workmates!
In terms of ones with noise cancelling, I don't know if there's much better than the Bose in terms of an all round package, especially at this price. There's always a bit of compromise to have NC.
Yeah like having to use batteries for NC. I have to use AAA batteries on my Marley Destiny TTR NC headphone. Sounds although so much better with NC switched on. No problems, i use AAA NiMH rechargeables, a few Eneloops here or there, or Duraloops (Duracell Recharge Ultra, made in Japan, and sold at Bunnings).
For normal at home use I guess
I would recommend checking out the PSB M4U2. I bought them after I lost my QC25s. As people say the noise cancelling on Bose are far superior, but I'd say the PSB's do have better sound quality. They also have this active mode that isn't noise cancelling that adds quite a bit to the sound which is a very nice option.
However, I've had multiple things go wrong with the actual headphones. The mic cable died within a few weeks, and some cosmetic parts have come off. Speakers in them still going strong so that's what matters.
@kranoath: Budget? Type of music? At home or while walking/commuting?
I thought it said 35, and almost lost my shit.
Are the QC25s a decent upgrade on the overear Sennheiser Momentums? Comment directed to anybody that's made the transition.
Too bad it's only the white version on sale…the bright blue cable + beige earpads are kinda ugly.
Clearing off the less popular colour version slow seller. People love a good black headphone instead.
Yep. I would have impulse purchased this immediately if it were the black ones.
Anyone else have a problem with the cable always falling out on these?
You may not have pushed the cable in far enough. There will be a second click when it is in right. If it's not staying in then likely they are not authentic.
Hmm I'll try again next time. Forgot where I got them from but am pretty sure of authenticity
Is there an offer on qc25+10?
qc25: unknown function or variable
Anyone know where I can buy the replacement cable for these? Cheap..
Preferably the iPhone one

Bought 'em from these mobs. The 2.5mm end fits nicely to my QC25, i would assume it will fit onto QC35 as well.
Google the new Sony range of ANCs including a new updated 30 hours MDR 1000X. Wasn't really a fan of the Sony cans but I like checking out new things so can't wait for it to hit stores to test out. They've dropped the RRP too which means current models will be on sale soon.
Great deal, been looking for these. Unfortunately there ordering system was a bit off, kept adding the black version instead of the white version when i clicked 'add to cart'. Ended up getting the white ones by clicking 'Buy now' but realised afterwards that there was a still a pair of black ones there too.
I emailed immediately to try and cancel the black pair but no response so far. Also tried calling their 1300 number but it doesn't seem to actually be connected. A little concerned I'm going to get stuck with an extra full price pair I don't want or need…This price is back again, have unexpired.
Woot been looking for one…
However, I see price at $239?
Still good price but $229 would be better!Ahh damn, it was $229 at the time of commenting but they altered the price again sorry!
Great price. Too bad I got a pair months ago for $286 :(
