That's closer to SPAM than it is to bargain…

Will you be posting any bargains, or are you just advertising…

  • Is the power to cameras & recorder from UPS ? I mean if the power to the building is lost can the system keep operating with back-up power ?

  • If you want a UPS this is additional please search Back Up Battery in our site, It is also known as a UPS.

Looks expensive. How does this compare with a Xiaomi setup with cameras of similar resolution, a cheap USB drive and a Raspberry Pi, which I guess would come in with a total at about 20% of this price?

    • The biggest difference is the knowledge that decent quality cameras are dirt cheap and knowing how to set it up. The target audience for this would be confused with what to do when handed a Raspberry Pi especially one without a case.

Hey Op, I think you might have mis-judged your audience here.

You won't be able to compete with the cheapie chinese cameras (like from Xiaomi) that regularly get posted on here. I've got 4 Xiaomi (2x 720, 2 x 1080) and use my Synology NAS to record. The 4 cameras cost under $130, they're wireless (no installer needed) and also have local SD storage. They can be accessed remotely, with motion alerts.

Sure they're probably not the same quality as yours. But for less then 10% of the price, it's hard to justify your kit.

      • hi mate can you tell me what cameras youre using, how youre powering them and what software to control them?

        thanks

        • just the Xiaomi Ants & Xiaofang cameras (usb power plugs)
          standard Xiaomi Mi Home app
and surveillance station on my NAS

I've also got TinyCam on my phone which I don't use much.

        • @supabrudda: ah so youre just routing usb power cables to an outlet somewher? so im assuming all indoor?

how are you connecting your nas to the cameras? using the same rtsp method as tinycam?

I am looking at the xiaomi dafang cameras, you reckon theyre worth the upgrade over the xiaofang?
Also if you have them plugged in all the time, wouldnt it be better to get regular ones without the battery that cost less?

          cheers!

        • @furythree:

Yeah just usb power, I've got a long one for the undercover outside one. You can power them with a powerbank, but there's no need.

Yeah I flashed them to allow for RTSP for Tinycam & surveillance station.

My next plan is to cut them off from external servers. I'm sure the Chinese Govt will miss the viewing experience, but I figure if I can VPN in & connect, that'll be more secure, but I've also got to work out an alert system (I'm thinking the Xiaomi gateway & motion sensors would be handy - I get the alert, then I can VPN in & view)

        • @supabrudda: this was my issue with the first gen ants cam

it wasnt very secure. you could view it via rstp or via the app, but without messing with vpns i didnt know how to block xiaomi from monbitoring it via any hidden backdoors etc.

What do you flash them with for RTSP? because the first gen antscam already had rtsp without flashing (it just wasnt advertised to have it)

if i just relied solely on the built in app + motion sensors it will at the very least already notify me while im away of motion being tripped without messing around with flashing or vpn right?

i want to view it on my windows pc on a spare monitor. anyway to do that?

No offence, but how many people do you think will buy this system with a 5% discount???
Its OzBargain and we love Bargains, 5% doesnt sound like a bargain to me.
    All the best.

  • Thank you for the feed back, I will address this tomorrow with the Director.
I'm sure tomorrow there will be an unforgettable deal. Please stay tuned.

      I'm joking lol.

    • +7

I hope to one day tell my grandchildren of the deal you'll post tomorrow.

      Don't let me down.

      • Haha. This comment..!! Had a good laugh..

  • I just bought 4 xiaomi camera and a Pi with few accessories for a setup total less than 200$…

I'm sure the quality and ease-of-use are quite dramatic compared to this product….but the price difference is just too huge….

    • Hey.. Can you explain or point me to a direction on how to set this up? Is there any place where I can start to have look into?

      • +1

you mean how to set up with cheap chinese cameras?

The main setup is your server(in this case, it is my raspberry pi).

luckily, raspberry pi has huge community and resource/information about how to do it. (raspberry pi ip cam set up, google search this).

The hardware you probably gonna need:

        1. IP cameras (basicly majority of the cheap chinese IP cameras will work)
        2. server (i like to use raspberry pi due to reason above. And if you have free computer/laptop lying around, you can just use those as well, but it is not good idea if trying to run 24/7)
        3. Monitors (optional, to connect to your pi)

Depends on how you want it to work. In my case, I have one Pi setup in my room with 1 monitor circle thru all my cameras throughout my house.

The pi has motion detection setup, it records when triggered( and depends on the software, it can email you).

Also, I have app setup on my phone so I can view all my camera when im out (independently to my Pi. The Pi just gonna running 24/7)

It is definitely hard to setup for a none-nerdy-guy, especially the Pi(where 99% of the work).
There are tons of videos on how to do it, and do one function at a time(set up real time first, then setup motion detection, then setup the phone so you can watch when you are at work, and set up 1 camera successfully before going multiple)

        keywords:
        respberry pi ip cam setup
        port forwarding
xeoma(the program i use on the pi)
tinycam pro(the program i use on my phone)
xiaofang ip cam(the cameras i use)

        ==================================================================================

Or you can just buy 1 cheapo ip cam and install the phone app that it tells you to, should get most ppl's job done……. :)

        • Thanks for explanation. I will start looking into these by doing more researches.
I think I can get this installed as i'm an IT guy.

        • how are you powering the xiaofang? or are you just recharging it regularly?

        • @furythree:
just a mini USB cable. you can't recharge it, it doesn't have a battery.

well, even today's technology, surveillance camera still need cored power xD.

        • @Hornpub: Surely any self respecting OzB member has enough Eneloops to power them for a few decades?

        • @supabrudda: hahaha and enough ssd to have those period of time all recorded

        • @Hornpub: my bad, i thought the xiaofang had built in battery

what is the difference between a xiaofang and the antscam then? they seem like the same thing just different formfactor

also is the resolution good enough?

        • @furythree: haven't really look into your version. The xiaofang is good enough for its price, I really like it so far(with hack ofc). Yes the res is good. Night vision is decent.

        • @Hornpub: Antscam is the original xiaomi knockoff of the drop camera

        • @Hornpub: USB cable to power? So cables run around the house from roof?

Their Live Chat 24/7 is neither live nor chatty too.

        • Hi PJC, I really do apologize that you had problems getting in contact with us. What time did you try and message? because we didn't receive any messages last night we only had one around the 9:30pm and we assist the gentleman with his enquiry.

        • @SecuritySystems: It was around 9.30pm and I received no assistance. As you can see the experience was rather discouraging. https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/46870/51791/security_s…

    • Oh the suspense …

      • Lol, you guys are funny. I just do what my boss says hahahaa. He tells me to post the deals online and that's what I do.
He gives me all the promotions and deals, but I spoke with him this morning and he said he will make a better one up exclusively for this site. Thanks for all the feedback. :-) Do you prefer IP Cameras or traditional Analogue cameras with the BNC?

Merchants should note that small reductions … will NOT be well received.

        • % discount trumps all.

        • @PJC: Thanks PJC, Will talk to my boss about that aswell. Really appreciate your assistance with this matter. It was our first post so we where not sure what to expect.

Will this protect my 80k investment or will I need to buy some more cameras?

    • Hi AlienC, Cameras are most commonly used as a deterrent, although with technology improving and quality of the cameras being more enhanced, cameras that are 3 or 4 megapixel can start to identify people and objects. In day and night circumstances. In regards to your investment if it is very important I would strongly consider, alarms and cameras with some kind of push notification, and maybe even consider a back to base monitoring company for your alarm, so that they can monitor if any alarms go off as you could imagine security is a very big thing now and if you watched the news last night it is important. I hope this answers your question. Please also consider the distance and coverage that you require to view it maybe the case that 4 cameras are not enough they are 2.8mm lens so they are a very wide camera.

My investment is a car from Westpac.

      • +1

Do I stick this on the car or around it. Also will this work with eneloops batteries and solar panels?

        • I suggest a belt and braces approach. One set watching the vehicle, and another directly on it - I request photos to reassure me I have been helpful.

        • +2

@PJC: could not find any belts or braces so ended up with this

          https://img.purch.com/w/640/aHR0cDovL21lZGlhLmJlc3RvZm1pY3Jv…

Should be ok just needed to buy two more 80k investments to monitor the succeeding investments.

Now how should I monitor my new 80k investment?

        • @AlienC: Grossly inadequate.

  • +1

I'm really excited for your deal today. I couldn't sleep

The cams looks like dahua 4mp turret. ~$75 ea on eBay. Four for ~$300. The nvr is a bit more difficult to identify.

Edit nvr is a dahua, but can't find the price.

A 4mp dahua kit is ~$600 on eBay.

    • The nvr is a bit more difficult to identify.

Because the photo is faded at the badge!

  • do you need a security licence to install cctv around your home?

  • ACMA covers cabling rules/ regulations, so you will need this in order to run cabling for the cameras, I believe you need a 2c security licence to give advice/ install security systems. With that said neither of these 2 things will help you with the skills needed to install CCTV systems.
something that can be grey imported by an individual will always be cheaper then something that is supplied by a second party locally that needs to warrant said items.
I'd have to check the current pricing (hik is currently in a model change so the 4mp is on clearance) but I don't think I could even supply the comparable locally sourced hik system for this price let alone include the $600 for instal.
people need to understand for $1515.25 your getting an installed CCTV camera system that is warranted for at least 12 months, meaning that you don't have to climb back in the roof, climb up a ladder or cover return postage/ replacement costs when the cheap eBay sourced cameras/ nvr fails

  • Thank You, whooah1979 and IDL05E well said, Can you please email us and I will send you some prices as I can see you are in the industry and you are an installer, We also have a Distribution Price that I can assist you and provide some great Package deals for you to on sell to your customer.

    For every one else.
As for this package price and our website this was provided by an NSW Registered Security ASIAL & Master Licence accredited Installer with 2 years warranty If you missed out on this package deal you will have to wait for another bargain.

    Thank You to everyone. :-)

    • … you will have to wait for another bargain.

You haven't posted a bargain yet. There was an empty promise …

I'm sure tomorrow there will be an unforgettable deal. Please stay tuned. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/5021271/redir
