Melbourne to Bangkok Return (with Overnight Stop in Singapore) $155pp X 2 ($312 Total) Including Bags on Scoot (23/10-1/11)

800

This is a very limited deal but a great price if you can fly October 23 to Nov 1. Scoot via Expedia are offering fares for 2 people to Bangkok including bags (normally $70 each way) for $155 each. You also get a 1 night stopover in Singapore.

  • Leave 1:00 pm from Melbourne on the 23rd of October, Arrive at 6:15 pm in Singapore
  • You then have a whole night and day to explore Singapore and fly out the next day (24/10) at 6:00 pm for a short flight to Bangkok.
  • Leave Bangkok at 6:15PM on Nov 1, short layover in Singapore (couple of hours), then fly out and arrive back in Melbourne at 11:15AM on Nov 2.

IWTF has picked up the cheap price as well but it shows some other incorrect prices (Wotif + Lastminute) but good comparison with other flight prices.

I would book this quick as the fare isn't showing up on Scoot's site and is probably a price mistake.

  • Very limited is an understatement :)

How did you find it? Any other dates? I've checked a couple close ones, but no luck.

    • +1

Found on the Fly4Free site, which linked to IWTF. Only that date seemed to work and with bags.

      • Cool, thanks.

  • Thanks for sharing!

It's so cheap because Thai King's cremation is on 26th October for 5 days. There would probably limited things to do in Bangkok at that time and also probably very crowded.

    • +2

      good heads up

    • +3

      that makes sense.

The monarchy is a massive part of the Thai way of life.

If anyone goes, be very respectful and aware of the situation.

    • Thanks for the heads up. Will probably fly sometime in Nov.

o.O its only $255 return from sydney! double overnight stopover tho

    • For one or for 2 people?

  • +1

    theyve fixed it…

"Ticket price changed from AU$311.88 to AU$634.62. Because prices change often, we recommend booking now to lock in this price."

    • Not really, you need try many times. Price changs all the time. You may still get chance to grab the tickets

      • i was on the phone with expedia and they couldnt make the booking. they are saying theres an issue with scoot thats been ongoing for a couple of days

    • Yep expired but now it's back there again at $155. Might be people trying test bookings.

EDIT: Looks like errors when on the last step. Hmm.

EDIT2: Another attempt seem to work.

      • Amazingly, SYD-BKK on the same dates, including baggage, is only $252.88 for two - nearly $60 cheaper than the headline deal!

    Anyone actually able to book?

I can get to payment page, input card details, then errors out. I've tried again, a couple of dozen times now. but still no joy.

    "Sorry
We weren't able to complete your booking. Please wait a moment and try again."

I think this is a pricing error. If you select 3 passengers the price changes to -$10 per person.
Has anyone successfully booked these flights?

        Now THAT'S an OzBargain!

  • With stopover I know some flights (airlines) don't allow you to go out of the airport, is this true? And is it true for this deal?

    • No. Haven't heard of that. Airline wouldn't know if you've left airport albeit Changi airport is a destination in itself.

      • thanks I thought so, a year back I questioned airasia and they said no, read some forums and also had same answer from others saying AA would give a No answer but after more investigating it just means they want you to be back in time for the flight and will have to go through immigration again and 2. leaving the airport you need the right Visa if required.

    • It depends, some countries have an entrance/departure tax that you haven't paid if you're only flying through. Saying that, I'm pretty sure Singapore Tourism Board will allow you to leave the airport if your connecting flight is something like a 6-24 hours wait.

Definitely can. I jumped on a train and went down to Sentosa for 3 hrs for a swim and a beer to break up the flight. Beers were $15… I went for a swim! There are baggage storage lockers for about $10.

First time in Singapore, was very easy to get around.

    • Depends if you require a visa for short holidays there. In this case i don't think so.

    • Went out and grabbed dinner with friends during a 6 hour layover. Depends on whether you need a visa to get out or not. It's fine to go in and out on an Aussie passport.

    • Can confirm it's fine with Scoot at Changi with an Australian passport. I left my bag at the baggage storage service for a small fee, and went to Orchard Road for a few hours.

  • Are any dates in 2018 available for this price or near to it?

  • +1

I tried booking and kept getting "We weren't able to complete your booking. Please wait a moment and try again." i checked my bank account and i was charged $210. did this happen to anyone else?

    • +2

I tried multiple times and haven't had anything taken from my account

      • i tried again and it charged me $210. i called them up and they said it will come back to my account in 3 days.

  • Appears to be coming up as $400.64 when half an hour ago it was $311.88. Doesn't include bags now either.

    • EDIT: Got it to say $311.88 again but it won't book. Note comment above, can get it for $252.88 return SYD-BKK via SIN but that won't book either.

  • $64 card charge for the booking too if you pay with visa or mastercard :/

    • Amex though, which normally needs a surcharge, is free. What's going on in this mixed up world

      • scoot doesnt accept amex

        • There's an Amex logo there next to the Visa and MasterCard logos, and it had a separate image for my CVV number (which is four digits for Amex and located on the front of the card). So it appears they do, and they don't surcharge.

        • @Meconium:

Yes, but when you try to pay with amex, it doesn't accept it. I tried many times and then ended up calling Expedia and they told me scoot doesn't accept amex.

    • if you try and book, does it error out?

      • Yes. Haven't had any luck so far.

  • Seems to be expired now. All prices are back up to 400+
