Always wanted a GoPro… is this a good price for an entry level GoPro?

So confused with all these different models

Looking at using it for Bike riding, snowboarding, going on holidays

Anyone with experience can give advice?

I also have experience in being confused with all the different GoPro models.

    • Last Action Hero 5

      • Classic movie.

Good if you want something that just works and aren't too worried about video quality.

    • Er, shouldnt that be the bare minimum requirement for any action camera in general?

  • I picked one of these up from Target for $79 a few months ago. video quality is average.

    • Agreed. Video quality is about the same as a webcam.
Good for kids, and for that one time you try and ollie on a kmart skateboard.

  • So, is this the original 'Hero 1' from way back?

Or some new 'numberless' model (aka 'The iPad')?

  • it's the base model that they started releasing about 2 years ago with the Hero 3, now discontinued line. no HDMI out, not removable from case.

  • I got my one of these. Quality in low light/indoors is pretty grainy…
Works decent outside, especially in a pool or at beach.
    Seems tough enough.

    Cons:
    - Lack of stabiliser hurts
    - Case muffles sound alot, or microphone is pretty average…
    - Case creaks a lot as its held (sounds terrible in videos as super loud), to get around that I jam two of those squashy yellow earplugs at back (closing case on top of them) to put more pressure on the case internally.
    - lack of screen can be annoying as can't easily review anything.

Might be better value out there going with chinese ones, haven't personally used them though.

  • Anyone know the difference between

    GPCHDHA-301 and the CHDHA-301

    Thanks :)
