  • Chicken Dippers!!

  • Has anyone used of those dettol hand-wash sensor things? I was waiting for them to go half price before getting one, that time appears to be now.

    • +1

Kinda pointless considering you still have to turn the tap on with your hand.

      • +5

even more pointless, considering you only touch a normal dispenser before washing your hands.

How to make money off irrational fear of germs!

        • i like it. its cool and saves a second or two. the apple soap smells awesome! best smelling soap.

    • +11

Love them, we just bought 2 from Coles for $10 each (half price, but WW are a few cents cheaper) for the bathroom and kitchen.. my parents have them through their place also.

Yes, it doesnt solve the issue of having to turn the tap on with your hand (but I tend to use the back of my hand for this anyway, as we have those flat handles) but there are other benefits..

      • they look pretty cool
      • they dont fall over and get unstable when nearing empty like a normal plastic pump bottle does
      • they remain clean and tidy (if you care about a tidy looking bathroom)
      • if a Caveman were to time warp into your bathroom it would probably keep him entertained for hours… at least until he tries to eat it
      • it has a light on it (I think to warn when battery is low) and I like anything with flashy lights
      • it is a great place to store 4x AA batteries for when the TV remote goes flat
      • Kewl…I have flick mixers, so I can use my wrist to turn the water on. They do look nice and stable, and neat, which is the main appeal.

      • +3

We have a few bought at half price from Coles too. They are great. Don't think you have to pay $6 for a refill though. Just drill a hole in the top (bottom of the bottle) and you can just pour any wash in. It works on gravity feed, not vacuum.

        • Guys, unless you want to render your whole bathroom unusable, don't do this. Pay Dettol the 150% markup for their proprietary soap dispenser.

          • +3

@Jesmond: not quite sure I understand?

            • +1

@ash2000: Perhaps Jesmond thinks Dettol boobytrap the bottles with some sort of radioactive isotope ?

    • I was digging ours, the cucumber smell is nice, well until I saw the price of the refills! Anyone worked out how to get the lid off that damned bottle so you can ut something cheaper in? It's stuck fast! :D

      • Read my comment above

    • Not too mention that the amount that you get is probably going to be excessive to make you buy more Dettol.

Just buy a regular bottle; if you're extra strength paranoid about germs on the bottle you can always use some Glen20 or Oust on the handle. Or just not be germophobic.

    • I bought one last time Coles had them on sale. I didn't read it properly and thought it was the no water hand sanitiser dispenser instead of hand soap. It's battery operated and you can turn it on and off so it's not dispensing soap when you don't want it to.

    • +2

I think this germ paranoia has gone too far. People need to be sensible about germs and hygiene, not paranoid and fanatical.

Hell, you need some level of exposure to build up natural resistance.

  • nice list, keep it up

  • +1

thanks for the list, It's how I plan my shopping… Can't buy crap not on special…

Now if only it included the $ per Litre/100gm, then I wouldn't have to think about it at all.
One thing i've noticed is for a change the Coke 2l is 5 for $10, so 10l for $10. $1/litre which is ok.

  • +1

Thanks Fergus. Are there really 25 cans in a Pepsi brick? Thought it would be 24 or 30?

    • +1

      Thanks, fixed.

The specials are quite decent some of them. with the prices of groceries these days I buy up on specials whenever I can!!Try to avoid all the rip off price and stuff that has inflated massively from a year ago.

  • Thanks mate.

  • Much easier than reading the catalogue!

  • Commendable job Fergus!! Keep it up :)

  • Nice work, Fergus! Thank you. I only go for the 50% off stuff so these summaries are very useful.

  • Brilliant work Fergus. Thanks. Great name too, same as my son's. :) Gee I am tired I wrote mane at first.
