Alto ZMX52 5 Channel Compact Mixer - $58 Delivered @ JB Hi-Fi (Online Only)

50

I was looking for a small mixing desk to run my theater room headphone/shaker setup and came across this deal at JB.

The cheapest I have found is $79 for refurbished units on Ebay, and this is from the Alto importer:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ALTO-PROFESSIONAL-ZEPHYR-ZMX52-5-…

Store DJ have it for $119.

I have not used this particular desk so I cannot comment on the overall quality but for the $ it should fit the bill for basic home use etc.

Blurb from JB Hi FI:

-Six total inputs including an XLR jack with phantom power and EQ on Channel 1
-1/4” Main, Tape, Headphone and Aux outputs for flexible routing and monitoring
-Compact design perfect for musicians looking for easy portage and quick set-up
-Mic input channel with gold plated XLR and balanced line input
-Two stereo input channels with balanced TRS jack
-Extremely high headroom offering extra dynamic range
-Ultra-low-noise discrete mic preamps with +18V Phantom power
-Balanced inputs for highest signal integrity and low-noise operation
-Warm, natural two-band EQ on mono channel
-Peak LEDs on each channel
-2-Track inputs with level control assignable to main mix, headphone outputs
-Highly accurate four-segment bar graph meters

  • Thanks OP but won't add to cart. In a way I'm happy I can't buy this because it will probably turn up in battered packaging clearly opened with missing parts much like my recent JB Hifi Parrot drone Factory Scoop purchases.

That is extremely unlucky, i have purchased dozens of the factory scoop deals and besides a $5 iPad keyboard everything was brand new.

  • Sorry all, that was quick!

Thanks OP. Just checked your link up the top for the ebay site for the importer and the price has been dropped to $63.20 (20% off). So grab it cheap from there if you want it. It's a bit of a mickey mouse unit for a muso as only one XLR channel with phantom power and the other four channels are actually mono line inputs configured as mixed stereo pairs. Aux in and out which can be switched to the mix or to headphones but not both, and it doesn't look like there is level adjustment for the aux in so that would have to be pre-adjusted. Unbalanced line outputs also. But, for mucking about at home it could be quite handy, it's a bit limited for serious use however. And it is really cheap for what it is. Also be aware it's powered by an 18V AC supply (included I think). Cheers.

Edit- just checked the manufacturer's website at https://www.altoproaudio.com and they have some much more capable units that would be worth looking at if you could get them at a decent price.
