    Thank you Sergeant Schultz.

  • so its just for the sim not site wide, right?

  • Just be warned. I bought the last 6 month Amaysim deal from Groupon and the code did not work. It took a LOT of back and forth to get it sorted. YEMV.

    • Worked fine for me.

    • +1

Constant problems here too. A mention of the TIO had them fix the issue in 10 minutes, after a week of excuses from them.

  • Running out of the Kogan $1 deals so might be worth it at $5.20 per month.

  • +2

Ordered and got $1.60 cashrewards also :)

  • Groupon amaysim voucher worked very well for me.

  • what happen if we over use the data allowance?

    • You can turn off the 'top up' feature like most plans.

      • ic thanks.

      • +1

isn't prepaid an option for all amaysim plans?

    • • Excess data charged at $0.072/MB($72/1GB), or $10/1GB

Not sure if disabling topup will stop excess fees. Anyone know?

      • +1

Yes, My Daughter has it and once the data is used up she doesn't have internet until next recharge.

        • Terrible idea, bye bye Find My iPhone or equivalent.

        • +1

@auna: Children don't need data when they spend 95% of their time at home using wifi. If you are concerned about losing your phone then of course keep toping up….but you can still loose it.

        • a pity you need to be aged 14 or over to hold an Amaysim account. Vodafone/Lebara/Kogan and Boost don't have this restriction.

        • That's done through phone though and not Amaysim account unfortunately. Amaysim should have this very basic feature. Consumer should be allowed to decide when and if he wants to use expensive data.

        • @zzymurgy: Technically yes, but in a real world situation parents would open accounts for their children.

    • Unfortunately you can't stop usage of data after allowance data limit has been reached. In prepaid, you will either be charged per MB basis OR you can decide to buy 1GB pack for $10 manually in advance which is a better option though both options are quite expensive which kills this deal for those who use more data. In postpaid, 1GB data ($10) will be automatically added to your plan as soon as you reach 2GB usage. It is unfortunate that you don't have an option to disable data once the cap is hit.

      • So if techboy's statement is true, is it safe to assume you'll be fine with prepaid once you have no credit left?

        • +1

If there is no credit then it works fine on prepaid. If there is any credit, one will lose it fast once data cap is reached.

      • Odd, "techboy's" answer above says data is just blocked until next month.

        See:
techboy 4 hours 39 min ago new
Yes, My Daughter has it and once the data is used up she doesn't have internet until next recharge.

        • Choose prepaid option and change your billing method to BPay so they can't auto-bill you.

You'll have no credit in your account for Amaysim to charge over quota data to. :)

        • @techboy:
          Thanks.

damn… just purchased for full price yesterday!!!

    • welcome to ozbargain

    • i purchased the full price 2 days ago but was porting my number so the sim came in the mail and wasn't activated yet. I went to the amysim chat and they canceled and reimbursed my order and then I placed a new one using the groupon code and activated the sim

  • +1

What is the "activate by" date?

    • +1

Redeem by: Mon 21 Aug 2017

      • +1

Redeem isn't same as activate. Redeem is for Groupon offer while activate is for SIM activation on Amaysim website.

    • +1

The sims come activated when you redeem the voucher. I lost out 6 days of usage for the first month because of the time it took to arrive in the mail…. Be warned!

      • Same here!

      • Does this mean that they have ported your phone number already and you couldn't use your phone? Thanks

        • Not sure about porting numbers. Mine was a new number.

        • If porting your number the plan will not be active yet (until you say go). It can take a few days to activate Optus carrier to Optus carrier though…

      • +1

they can credit your account with $ for the days lost, just ask the live chat.

        • I sent a message off and it still hasn't been done and probably not worth much effort. Just wanted to point out the shady business practice.

        • @zappy32: They normally put credit in straight away. From previous deal it was also 6 x 28 days however i lost 15 days even after they credited 24.90 to my account. They said don't think of it as having 168 days but the amount of times renewed-as long as i renewed for 6 times that'll be it. This was when i waited until the end of month to port my number through

  • T&C - Redeem by: Mon 21 Aug 2017
Does it means to activate by 21 Aug?

    • Yep

    • It means you need to use the voucher code in Amaysim website by 21st Aug., if you are porting number you will have at least a month to activate

      • So after filling up redemption form (choosing to port the number), they'll send me the SIM and I have to call them up again to initiate porting process?
        Is that how it works?

        • I activated online using my user id and password which was created while ordering for the SIM in Amaysim website.

So after you receive SIM, when you login, you should get an option to start the mobile transfer/port. Once you click on that and confirm, it should usually take about half an hour to one day for activation.

  • Can you transfer your existing number?

    • I also want to know if this counted as post-paid or pre-paid?
Easy to port out after 6 months?

      • Can transfer number and it is pre-paid. Just remember to cancel the auto renewal before the 168 days(You can do it first time you login so you don't forget).

        • +2

true ozbargainer… takes the discounted meal with no drinks. LOL

        • +1

If you turn off auto-renewal does it still auto-renew after the first 28 days? I was going to turn it off but the app seems to imply the toggle is needed and I don't know how this deal specifically is programmed in their system (you'd think they'd say it expires in 168 days rather than 28 for starters).

        • @peterpeterpumpkin: Set notification in Google calendar

        • @peterpeterpumpkin:

Yes, you just set payment method to BPAY/Voucher instead of CC. You can probably set it up without CC but it's more of a pain to do the ID verification when not using a CC.

        • @cimot:

          That's actually what I did :)

        • @zappy32:

Yeah I did that as well :) I think a CC was required for setup if using this deal.

  • Great deal. I bought this Groupon deal a week ago. And I am now just transferring my number across. If only I had waited a week then I could have got 20 % off.

  • Anyone know if we can port directly from Optus, or do they need to send temporary SIM?

  • Is it a 7 months plan ? I bought 3 renewal deal but still gets renewed on the 4th months!

  • Where is easternculture?

  • Thanks, but I'm good with discount vouchers until mid-October. Kogan, woolies, lebara …
    will looking early Oct.
    thanks again

  • this is pretty restrictive:

Valid for new amaysim customers only
Not to be used with any other offer
Not to be used in conjunction with an existing amaysim service

    Is there a workaround?

    • +1

port out and then port back in.

    • +2

get a $2 telstra sim from their website for free and it should arrive in 2 biz days, then sign up the Day2Day $1 /day (upto 4 hours to port number to Telstra account). As soon as the telstra sim is activated, port back to Amaysim take less than 1hr. DONE!!!

Talk to their Live Chat if you couldn't complete it online yourself. Both Telstra and Amaysim live chat are very helpful

      • port back to Amaysim take less than 1hr

So, I need to also buy an Amaysim SIM?

        • Or, probably find the old Amaysim SIM?

        • +1

not 100% if used sim can be reused. But i always hav a spare new amaysim sim around.
or goto post office to pick up a $2 sim if can't wait

        • @hunter108: great..thanks :)

    • Does that mean if I already have an account with Amaysim, I can't port a second mobile number across by using this offer?

      • can't be used, because of this:

*Not to be used in conjunction with an existing amaysim service

      • +1

if your 2nd mobile number is registered with another provider, u should be able to port over and use this deal.

        • Just registered another phone number under the same account. No problem at all. Cheers,

  • Bought. Thanks OP.

  • Great! Bought one.

    • Wait till Monday to order I think, as they autoenable sim, and w/end post is pretty slow.

  • -3

    Ewww 2gb.

  • Thanks OP grabbed one :-)
Still active in WA for any last min purchases :-)

  • Offer extended to 14/8

If you are planning to do an overseas trip and don't require the phone service while away, with this deal can you suspend the renewal for the next 28 day period for while you are away?

    • Good question.

  • does anyone know what's the minimum period to stay with the service provider before we port out again ?

  • My redeem by date written on the voucher is 10 sep 2017. Does that mean that I don't have to redeem by 21st Aug?

    • The redeem by date must has been extended for everyone given the extension of the Amaysim deal. My old voucher shows redeem by 21/8. New voucher that I have just downloaded with the same redemption code shows 10/9.

  • +1

Ordered mine, redeemed voucher, received sim about a week ago. Sim wasn't activated (perhaps because I was bringing my number across). Activated today, number transferred over in a couple of hours. Just check with live chat about the data, they said since I'm on prepaid, there is no auto data top up. Data service will just stop which suits me just fine. Also noted on top of screen in manage plan section that I am on 100% OFF UNLIMITED 2GB. Valid to: 11 Jan 2018. Also, payment methods were set to bpay.

    • How did you know sim was not already activated? Not sure my calculations are correct but if you say you activated today and it expires on 11 Jan 2018, this only gives you 141 days. The deal is for 6x28 days = 168 days.

      • good point. I didn't do the sum. Will need to check with them.

        • could be that the promotion ends 11/1/18 but the 11/1 could be the last recharge time which would mean I would still have 28 days from then. Checking with them now.

        • @tatnal:
confirmed that the promotion ends 11/1/18 and last renewal will occur so effectively have until 6/2/18 according to my calcs. Hopefully there will be some other Kogan like offers before then I can switch to.

  • omg what a nightmare i bought this deal 8 days ago i applied code sim was delivered i activated it porting my optus number to Amaysim, well 5 days later no connection.
Made several calls to amaysim and online chat, they blame optus for not releasing my number. Then i contact optus they said they checked the number and the number currently stated as ceased which only happens when the number has been successfully ported out of Optus. OMG 5 days without being able to make or receive calls never again AMAYSIM.

    • You've gotta threaten to go to TIO if you want them to get off their bum. When I activated on this plan the coupon didn't validate and I was stuck with Amaysim with no credit. I spent 4 days of ping pong messaging until I had enough and threatened with TIO. 5 minutes later they fixed everything.
