4 Bullet 3mp night vision cameras with 8 channel NVR with 2tb storage.
Cameras connect and power from NVR over Ethernet cable, so no need for an electrician. Could posssibly install it Yourself.
Seen reviews online and they are on average 4/5 stars
Personally think is good value for money.

What's the things to be aware of, if I need to install this myself?
Note: I work in IT thus I know networking stuff
It is about drilling through the wall, cables going through the ceiling/eaves and attics from the cameras to the recording unit especially you are putting the cameras at "hard to reach" places. But if you have done networking for computers shouldn't be a problem.

that's correct if the cables are floating on the floor, running under furniture and door gaps. but incorrect once the cable enters a the wall, ceiling or floorboards.
I installed all by myself outside my home and cables running through roof space.
Of course you did. The same applies.
I have ethernet cat 6 cables pre installed by the builder, I suspect I can use that (rather than the supplied network cable)?
Edit: Yes, after looking couple of video on YouTube
really the law requires a licenced sparkie for anything going into a wall/floor? is that all states?
That's not a rule I assume he was referring to the expertise required. It can be a real hassle. But for the majority you'd just be running around the eaves of your house.
Not a licensed electrician, but registered cabler.
which state is that? thats a new one to me
every state, its always been that way.
@Whomastadon: not always, the '97 Telecoms act referred to telecommunication networks.
It might have been the 2010 amendment to include data cabling & it's location within floors/walls/roofs,
Good price

Same price at jaycarmissing 1mp.
Jaycar uses Analogue BNC connectors while this one is Network based. Much easier to upgrade network cams in future and has higher quality. Also can connect to switches on way back, while BNC requires direct connect.

Jo5228 linked the jaycar unit. i was pointing out the difference in megapixels.

there is no difference in upgrading the coaxial for a hdcvi/hdtvi system compared to the cat cables for an ip system. install the correct coaxial properly the first time and there won't be a need to change them when upgrading the cameras.
and has higher quality.
what do you mean higher quality? dahua and hikvision makes top of the line commercial grade hdcvi/hdtvi cameras, all the way down to retail/consumer grade like swann.
Also can connect to switches on way back, while BNC requires direct connect.
both ip systems and hdcvi/hdtvi systems have pros and cons. just like the data from an ip camera has to travel through a network. a coaxial carrying raw images from the camera to the dvr is neither a pro or con.
Shipping is free to East Coast capitals - $38.10 to Perth.
You take that that shipping charge and stick it up your arse. Can this be connected to local network so one can login for remote viewing? Something like the Hikvision app.
Yes. Swannview app on iOS & Android
Interesting video re 1080 and 3MP Camera…still I prefer 3MP as it cover wider area
Forgot the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekfHKV-9xls…
The NRV also supports 4MP cameras with latest firmware update.
Does anyone know whether I can do the backup to FTP/Cloud? (instead of USB HDD only)
I don't think this can upload to cloud but wouldnt be surprised if there's a hacky way to do this.
I found this guys review pretty informative about the camera and installation

I bought this last night and is already been dispatched in the morning. So far happy with how quick they sent via Aus post.
Yes I saw this one too…
I contacted Swann Support today and they said the only one that supports upload to NAS are the following models (which not the SWNVK-873004 model):
SWNVR-88000
SWNVR-87095
SWNVR-87090
SWNVR-87250
SWDVR-84900
SWDVR-84500
SWDVR-88075
SWDVR-88050
SWDVR-81575
SWDVR-81550
Bought the same set 2 years ago for $599. Not bad but you really need to know what you are doing if you wanna DIY installation.
