Optus E5573 Wi-Fi Modem ($29.50 not $39) at Australia Post

120

Picked up this Wifi Modem @ Austpost to go with the $70/month Optus 100GB plan. It scans at $39, but it shows $29.50 at the display cabinet. Check to ensure the display cabinet shows $29.50 before buying. The staff will need to override this.

I am assuming this is Nationwide as I saw this at 2 Austpost shops in Melbourne CBD.

      Awesome.

Shipping is $10.15 to Melbourne - still not a bad deal.

Specification says 3G 900/1800, no support for 3G 850, so it is no Telstra (Aldi, Boost, etc) compatible, Optus only, unlocked though. Also it iis just the modem, it is not bundled with the 4GB Optus SIM.

I have one of these and it is Telstra compatible. It does 3G 850. It does B1/B5/B8 (2100/850/900). For 4G it does B1/B3/B7/B28/B40 (2100/1800/2600/700/2300). Not sure how it will now handle 4G 700 as Telstra has just upgraded this band and upgraded firmware on their current range of modems.

        • @Petsa: you mean you bought from wireless1? does it have external antenna interface? because this model has SD card support (upto 128GB) not antenna.

          @Petsa:

Could you please elaborate on what Telstra has done with their 4G 700mHz ( upgrade ).

I also have the Optus version of the Huawei E5573 and mine also has 3G 850mHz and also was unlocked out of the box, great fast modem. Just not so good for Vodafone as lacks their 4G B5 band.

        • @ozhunter68: Found some info on WP. My E5573 is also not wanting to go onto B28, keeps switching to B3 :/

@rh: I got it from Officeworks. The unit I have has 2 x TS-9 antenna slots and no SD card support. The actual model is E5573s-606.

        • @Petsa: Officeworks no longer has those modems, it seems similar submodels still have different features, even if unlocked.

  • Bugger, I only just recharged the sim I got with my e5573 from Coles 2 weeks ago (also $29.50). $30 recharge give the same 14GB you get included with this modem.

    • 14gb?

      • There's bonus 10gb at the moment with $30/4gb recharge. My e5573 got 14gb.

        • That's tempting.
Is $30 giving 14gb nowadays or just this bonus?

Go back to your tin foil tent, no one wants to hear you antiwifi conspiracys

        conspiracys

Conspiracies? I might take you more seriously if you could spell.

Who told you about a foil tent? That's my dream.

        • Although I use mobile phones as well as their Hotspot feature, portable wifi routers such as these, even wifi extenders too, I am well aware of the dangers of electromagnetic radiation.

The "World Health Organisation" and the "International Agency for Research on Cancer" has classified mobile phones as a "possible carcinogen" which means there is currently not enough research to say whether either causes cancer.

Many studies point to not only Tumors and Cancers, but possible unseen effects on pregnant women and young children such as Neurodevelopmental development issues, reproductive harm-in both men and women, sleeping disorders, anxiety and depression.

It's really too early to tell for sure, so use with cation, especially around pregnant women and young children.
