This is what I love about acer… cheap netbooks!

Their new line of Acer Aspire One D255 (with dual core N550 Atom's) is being retailed at US$330. Hopefully it will land in Australia at sub $400 prices.

    No Clive Peters In Sydney???

    • Not anymore. They all got closed down when HN bought them out. There was actually a bargain posted about it… :P

  • So all gone? so quick…

    • It's still 'in stock' according to the website.

  • Anyone manage to price match at HN???

    I want one now…lol.

    Shame no clive in NSW.

  • Any Clive Peter in VIC?

  • Battery? 6 cells?

    • 3 cells, the 1 i bought from HN weeks ago

      • It was $197 at HN and i got mine for $186.

        • Are u sure the same model, I saw another post here which is only 8.9" screen.

Or u bought it several weeks ago during super Sat.

  • Is it easy to add 1GB Ram without remove the keyboard?

  • i bought this saame one from harvey norman on Sunday for $259, $220 after cash back.

  • Anyone know what the 6 cell battery for this laptop is?

They've extended the promo (E53) from the deal that was being offered a few weeks ago.
But this price is $12 to $22 better than the HN prices
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/30463

    HN: 249 - 39 cashback = 210 originally
    HN: 259 - 39 cashback = 220 currently (acc to dogisaac)
    CP: 237 - 39 cashback = 198

Had I known that the promo was going to be extended, and CP was going to have this deal, I woundt have bought if from HN when I did - as I only caught on to it at the end, once HN re-raised thir prices claiming an error !
    So I bought mine for $275 less 39 = $236. Looks like I am not that good a deal-hunter /hundler !! LOL !!

Still a decent price for the unit. Ive used it now and then, and last night was working in excel and the battery lasted 4.5 hours, and was down to only 60% !!!

    • +1

mmm, not such a good reader either, just a couple of posts up. HN: $236 - $39 cashback = $197. And even cheaper if you can manage it.

Now as for your usage, your battery lasted 4.5 hours and was only at 60%?

I have been using this for web browsing and can only get 2.5 - 3 hours out of it. Have you plugged in a 6 cell?

      • Yup, I got it for $236 as well from HN a few weeks ago, and after cashback it'll be $197, just $1 difference from this.

Plus this was the latest HN Super Saturday, so perhaps it was just missed.

      • looks like i got dudded for ~ $40… oh well ! :-(((

Re my usage, no, I wasnt browsing at all, just using it for doing saome calculations and working on a spreadsheet during the course of a long meeting.
I wasn't using it actively the whole time, it hybernated a few times, but I woke it up as soon as I noticd that it was off !

It actually lasted around 3 hours on standby first (only reducing it by 10% or so, and then the 3.5hr meeting that I used it for.

I dont think it is a 6 cell battery… its the standarsd one that came in the box, is flat (and not bulgy like the 6cell one is).

  • DO you guys set ur display to full brightness??

  • Paypal only allows payment by linking a credit card? I have sufficient pp funds, but theres no option to let me use it & there is no direct deposit option either…..

    • I just paid via paypal without issues and like you i had sufficient funds in paypal.
it took like 3 minutes of "loading" to process the transaction.

  • Unlike the HN one a few days ago this has the better N450 processor and is about 1" bigger…

  • Is hard to claim cash back? Pay by cheque?

    • I found it easy, print out the claim form from the website, attach the barcode from box and attach copy of the invoice.

  • Harvey Norman price matched in Dandenong Vic once I showed them this link provided earlier.

  • I went in to Clive Peters today and you can purchase directly from them.

  • Both my netbooks arrived today. Very happy with the fast delivery turn around.
