Found this on news.com.au of all places. Mrs Vietbargain will probably want more than one colour so I'll get one too.

Free full-sized lipstick samples at any M.A.C outlets, David Jones Counters and participating Myer stores in Australia.

edit2 I realised there's a djs @ barangaroo. Confirmed the deal is on. You fill out a form, follow on Instagram and get a free lipstick - but it seems like there's a set range to choose from and probably limited stock (looked like at least 100 at the counter when I peeked)

MAC's instagram page put a post up (https://www.instagram.com/p/BXEv_3bFAro/?taken-by=maccosmeti…) confirming there will be lipstick giveaways tomorrow.
They've replied to some comments saying "all M•A•C stores, David Jones stores and select Myers are participating. The only Myer stores not participating are: Adelaide, Chadstone, Garden City, Canberra, Liverpool, Doncaster, Castle Hill, Joondalup, Penrith, Morley, Shell Harbour, Ballarat, Launceston and Tea Tree Plaza"
So all other Myer Stores that sell MAC other than those listed above should have some stock to give away.

Mod: Check with your local store to see if they are participating, there doesn't appear to be an official list (yet). Feel free to comment below to save others calling that store.

  Handful of people happy, but many more unhappy. Only forty at Erina. People lined up. Missed out. Great way to promote their brand- not.

        Their instagram page is full of complaints too from entitled people.

        People who complained and expected to get a free lipstick when they arrived hours after the store opening time. I wonder if they really thought the number of lipsticks were unlimited.
        One person thought she could get some lipsticks on hold the day prior, only to be told on the day it was not possible (nor fair).

        Perhaps it would've been easier for MAC to just burn the lipsticks or give it away to staff to sell on ebay, rather then giving it away for free to benefit customers.

        I arrived 10 mins before their store at Garden City Brisbane open and there were already over 600 people queuing up, the staff only had 400 odd to hand out so I would say they have a fair amount to hand out but I don't think it is a good way to do promotion for the brand, there certainly will be lots of unhappy customers. Luckily I waited only 10 mins before they told us its all gone so didn't waste too much time.

        Woah 400 is heaps. TTP only had 270 and I thought that was a fair amount.

        The only promotion/ad they did was on their Instagram account afaik. News media and 3rd party blogs used it to blow up their own website/blog, while possibly leaving out important info like "limited stock". A number of idiots are accusing Mac of not stating it's limited stock on the "advertisements" aka 3rd party news and blogs.

        My store could definitely handled the queue better to prevent people cutting in line however.

        There's always a bunch of people who can't be pleased, they want it hand delivered to them by the Queen. We can't have nice things :(

  There was a line at Burwood (NSW) that stretched from Myer to the entrance of Westfield. I walked to the front of the line to see what was on offer and as I was entering, I heard a guy say "We lined up an hour and a half for that!". Not sure it was that much of a bargain! :)

    LOL what else would a guy say? "Oh what a lovely colour I'll wear it to work next week!"

    It was probably to his girlfriend who was grinning like a Cheshire Cat because she got a free MAC lipstick.
