iPhone SE 32GB (Space Grey) - $399 with $30 Starter Kit (Telstra Prepaid) @ Harvey Norman / Officeworks

820

Certainly nowhere near as cheap as the recent $249 Optus Prepaid Big W deal, but still seems like a pretty nice deal.
Cheaper than the current $429 Officeworks deal

Available online ($7.95 delivery) or in store.

Limit 1 per customer

Thanks to doweyy's comment - Price Match at Officeworks to get it for $379.05

All iPhones sold in local store have 2 years warranty, also for iPads.

    • I got additional year for $30 plus the store manager even gave me a 1yr Symantec AV multi device subscription worth $60..maybe just my luck..

OW Cannington, Perth, WA. Beat it by 5%. Paid 379.05.
    Thanks OP :)

    • Edit: Just unlocked the phone via 24x7 chat now. Very easy.

Thanks OP! Been price watching this one. Bought today pricebeat at OW $379.05 :)

    • Are u able to upload the receipt? thanks heaps

  • Anyone switched to this from a larger screen phone?

    • My bro kinda did. Well, he tried and he still uses his large screen Android phone as primary phone despite iPhone SE having a better CPU (faster). iPhone SE is his secondary phone - I don't see him using it much.

It is kind of an issue for me. I wanted my parents to switch to iPhone SE, but they just prefer the larger screen Android phones (or I should be nice to them and buy them an iPhone 7 each).

Would be nice being able to to wield a phone with one hand again but I don't know if I could give up 2k res & a 5.7inch display.

  • I purchased the pre-paid Iphone SE with an included $30 SIM Pack for $429 a week ago from Officeworks - Marion SA. Have had all sorts of issues and run-around to have the phone & sim validated. No luck online with several attempts inclusive 24/7 webchat.

Went to Telstra shop - Marion, and was told Telstra suspects there are a fair number of faulty $30 sim cards out there, the Telstra shop rep, suggested that the "numbers" were already allocated and in use …. so a lot of running around for me to make my phone work.
They had no stocks of "Good SIMS" so they had me sign up for a post-paid $20 plan so the phone could be given a phone number and also validated.

Then, I am supposed to cancel the $20 deal and apply for a PRE-paid service. Added to all this, as at the end of November I have a overseas holiday booked, I asked if they would unlock the phone …. in part I thought this request was fair as I had been trying to start the service and had been stuffing around with this for 8-10 hours. To be fair the consultant attempted to do this at my request but the system said NO … pay $80 or no go!!. Also attempted this online - also no unlock!.

This all looks like a very disjointed deal, most interesting to see other comment

    • This is the mother of horror stories.

Seems like the majority of people can get it unlocked quickly for free, but some people can't. No consistency to the process.

    Thanks OP!!
Just got one from OW Joondalup, WA, price-matched.
    You bewdy!

just bought one from officeworks for $379.5!
came in time :) I want it for travelling overseas and not taking the massive 7Plus with me
    good deal i reckon

5.5" isn't massive. It's average at best. 6" master race.

      • 5.5 its not that big agree but it wide to hold in hand not like the new LG ..etc which is 5.7 and feel a lot smaller in hand to hold

  • For those of you unlocking through telstra chat do you have to activate the iPhone and services 1st? I’m with Optus and just want to use that.

    • No.

  • Just picked 2 up from OW with the price match. When I mentioned Harvey Norman was selling it cheaper, the lady at the counter just smiled and said "399 was it?". lol.

By the way, is the $30 credit locked to the phone itself? Or is it something I would be able to sell?

    • I'm interested in this too. Assume it is independent of phone.

    • -edit-

Just unlocked both phones via the online chat. Had to try twice - the first time the operator just asked me to call a number to get it unlocked.

    • I went to OfficeWorkst his afternoon and they had already brought the price down to $399 :( Is there anything I can do does anyone recon?

      • Nothing you can do.

  • Could someone please upload there price-matched officeworks reciept, preferably in NSW ?
I bought it from jbhifi dammit

  • Imagine this combined with the seemingly annual Amex $100 rebate on $300+ spend!
Look forward to getting this phone…. eventually

  • one the best bang for Buck phones available.

OW same price as HN now, no more price matching.

    • Thanks, have updated the post.

  • Bought the phone from officeworks Bundoora today and was a bit worried about unlocking. Unlocked it via the telstra unlock site https://unlock.telstra.com/iphoneunlock (has been posted up on ozbargain before). Didn't have to chat to anyone and was almost instant. You'll need the telstra sim card first. Really easy process. The imei number is on the box so you can do it before taking it out. Thanks OP for the post.

    • It works with prepaid?

      • +1

Yup. I tried first with my Aldi mobile sim and an optus mobile sim, but both didn't work while it was locked. Placed the telstra sim in, unlocked online and both aldi and coles sim cards worked. All on prepay.

    1. Do you have to activate Telstra SIM before unlocking?
    2. How long does it take for unlock to work after submission? Several Hours?
  • Great deal. Unlocked with a 2min online chat with Telstra within even activating the Telstra SIM!
