  • Is this Australian stock? Will the headband cracking issue be covered under warranty?

    • According to Sony it's "human error"

    • VideoPro stated that 100% of their product range is genuine, local stock and comes with full warranty and support from the Australian manufacturers/distributors - no grey imports!

Regarding the cracking issue, I dont think it cover under warranty but you can always ask VideoPro and Sony about that because its a common issue for many people

Sony MDR-1000X NC Bluetooth Headphones $399 if you don't mind that it's from Hong Kong. Using code PLAYER.

I'd personally wait till it's under $400 local stock.

Funny that Sony AU itself is part of the 20% off deal but do not sell any of these.

$397 from Sydney duty free (no gst though)

    • Its a good price if you can pick it up.
      $397 + 10%tax = %436.70
I don't think they will delivery thought

Cheaper here again but not local stock - $391

  • I'm waiting for these to drop just a touch more.

From my limited comparisons I like the sound of the MDR-1000X over the QC35, but oooooooh boy does the QC35 kill the outside noise. It's incredible.

Haven't had the opportunity to put the Sony through its NC paces (i.e. using the NC without any music playing) because the display unit was hooked up through a convoluted cord setup at JB Hifi.

The QC35 was freely available to muck around with, but there was something about the sound with certain genres of music that weren't for me.

The point of this ranty rant is that I would dearly like to pay less for the Sony headphones.

    • Just get the QC35. They're $363 right now.

  • Ok, so I have a dilemma. I've been offered the QC35 for $358 or the MDR-1000X for $349. Both local stock. Help me decide! Admittedly I haven't tried either on in person but which way do I go??

    • Both have pros and cons over the other. It depends what your preferences are. Both are good at what they do (NC wireless).

You buy the QC35, and let me have the 1000X for $349.

Do you want to like, share where you're getting these offers from?

      • I would also like to know this

        • I like the Sony and the extra features but knowing Bose has been doing these for a while and from all accounts are better comfort wise and a little lighter, it's a tough choice.

Going by retail price, the Sony would be the better value considering I can get either for much the same price?

Just a contact from JB commercial that I made friends with :)

Which would you guys go with if you were offered the Sony for $340 or Bose for the $358?

          @Slave1:

          Reviews are a split.

I think I prefer the Sony from my limited experience, but it's going to be close.

QC35's noise cancelling is the best in the business however.

They're both pretty comfy, but I only had them on a short time, so can't judge long-term sessions.

Sony has a few more features and tricks - some sort of proximity mode so you can lower the NC to hear people speaking if you raise your hand to one of the ears.

Seems like a really, really great price for both - the 1000X is about 600 or 700 @ JB?

Seems like you can't go wrong. Read some reviews or just flip a coin!

        • @Droz:

I'll have to head into a store and give them both a try on to see the difference. All reviews I read and watched are so close it's just too hard to make a decision. Perhaps the deciding factor is the $18 cheaper difference for the Sony's.

Yeah the retail JB price is $599 for the Sony and $499 for the QC35.

        • @Slave1: It sounds like you would rather have the Bose. Take that one.

        • @lostn: Haha, do I? I think I've actually been leaning towards the Sony ever since I knew that they were giving Bose some major competition and once I read about the extra features.

  • Just tried purchasing with the code but eBay is refusing the accept it. Deal ends today, so idk what the issue is. And yes, the payment method is PayPal.
