how do these compare to TVs like the samsungs?
(think that question is asked each time these babies appear)

the amount of times this has been posted, someone must have bought one by now…

would have given you a +ive, but then you said please be nice, and we hate that here :P

Good luck on that one!!! If its a bargain just post. No need to post this annoyance every time.

he's probably scared from seeing the flaming comments from the other threads…

Anyway, there is a "1" next to the name which indicates it is his first!

  • I have a Kogan 32" at home and it works the treat. No complaints. Looks great in blu ray and awesome for gaming.

if you want to know how good the Kogan tvs are, read the coments on the 42" 100Hz kogan deal that was posted back on august 8th 2010 for the same price.

    • 21 positives, 4 negs (only one of which claimed to have any experience of owning the tv).

I'm certainly no kogan fan, but your link is not particularly convincing…..

It's a $700 42" TV. If you're worried about picture quality go get a $1000-3000 TV from JB Hifi.

You get what you pay for

    • Tough to tell if their stuff is good and bad. There seems to be an insane amount of hate being thrown these guys way from people who don't own any of their products. Almost everyone who recommends not buying from them doesn't own one of their products?

"Their TV’s are nasty and often use older Chinese generic panels"

According to the interviews on TV these guys use the same panels as everyone else, not older generation stuff.

Does anyone actually own any of these? I mean I've bought Sony and a Samsung 40"+ TV's in the past few years and particularly with the Sony I've been left with a terrible experience. So I'm starting to shy away from paying more to buy from 'established' brands.

      • I bought a Kogan in the eary days.(maybe 4 years ago?) 38", Analog tuner, 762 low res Samsung panel, and so far never had an issue. In fact it has been great. (Much better that the Bauhn 42" with rubbish pic quality and sloooow channel change, now that was a mistake)
Anyway I have to use a digital STB otherwise picture is crap on Analog, but it was for the bedroom and viewing from 4m away is fine.
Now none of that speil is relevant to the current Kogan offering but i would buy another given my experiences with them so far.

      • They use panels from the major manufacturers, but they are always "one generation" behind.

LG etc have all the equipment for making the panels. When they move to a new design, they can still make money by using the old manufacturing equipment to make panels sold to third parties. So in the end, you get a cheaper TV, with a panel one generation behind. The rest of the electronics is what determines the quality of the TV.

TL;DR They use last generation panels from the big manufacturers (not rejected panels/QA fail/Cheap Chinese panels)

  • Keep in mind that these are only 50Hz scanrate, most now days are 200Hz.

  • It is a good price for an entry level 42''-with 1080p res. The refresh rate is low, but would suit normal free-to-air television & computer hookup.
I think the real bargain is the free delievery. +1 for that combined reason

    • Its not free delivery mate :/

  • Correct me if im wrong but slow refresh rate is absolutely fine for movies & tv. In fact some people prefer slower refresh rates as that's what they are used to for movies - suddenly add fluid motion and it can cheapen the look of movies etc.

If you watch a lot of sport or play a lot of games you might benefit from 100hz/200hz due to the speed of the content.

I remember when I saw a movie in 100Hz for the first time I thought I was watching a home video. It was incredibly fluid; maybe a bit too fluid for my liking as it made it look more like raw footage instead of a movie.

        thats exactly what i mean.

if you're buying a cheap tv for your parents/grandparents etc youd be better off actually getting a 50hz as they might complain.

      • I liked it as it as i felt it gave it a bit more of a "real" feel.

    Bogans buy Kogans.

Hey!!! I resemble that comment :)

  • I cannot stop laughing on the comments to a uploader for : "be nice to me"

Comment said: "Is it an intercourse, he is asking us to be nice"
Anyways this deal is not a bargain, looking at other very good deals for branded ones.
