Long time lurker first time poster.

Just cancelled my order of the 1080ti SC2 when I saw the price of this one. Make sure to check out in USD for better conversion rates.
Have to go for the cheapest/slowest shipping to avoid the import fee tho.

EDIT 1: Also found this one:
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition http://a.co/bc7hrjp $734.85 USD Shipped (~$928 AUD)

EDIT 2: Your bank/Credit card has its own conversion rates make sure you check that out. User tamzie28 found the same card on newegg for ~$1008AUD Shipped, so compare your rates.

EDIT 3: Formatting.

EDIT 4: EVGA 1080ti Blower for ~$900 AU Shipped http://a.co/aNt4tMX

  • Not bad, not bad at all

      Almost worthy of a + vote… almost.

      • +2

        Yes

  • Curious question; do you have to pay the 10% tax if the conversion rate tips you over $1000?

    • -1

      Yes

    • -1

If the combined cost item and postage is $1000. You will need to.

      • +1

Incorrect. The trigger on GST is calculated on the item cost only. I can find the link for the way customs calculates this if you need confirmation.

The Value of the Taxable Importation (VoTi) used to caluclate how much GST you should pay if the item is >$1000 includes the postage cost, there is where you are confused.

      • +1

@Reubzy is right. GST is calculated on item only excluding shipping cost. Not to mention Amazon charges GST for you by default and you don't have to pay any GST if amazon does not charge you. Even if the currency exchange increased before you receive the item, you paid below $1000 AUD ON purchase.

  • +2

yeah the stronger aud is just putting this under the 1k threshold that was adding over $100 to the price a few days ago

    • Are we screwed if the A$ drops when the package goes through Customs?

      • no its at the time Amazon charge your card i believe but i will need someone to confirm

  • +2

I heard the Ausy dollar is going up!

    • +2

if it hits 80 cents then this will cost $971.25

  • +1

    Hi All,

Found this same one (i think) at newegg for $960.80 shipped

    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681448…

    • Cant seem to work it out to ship to AUS on the US site.
But its about ~$1008 AUD shipped on the AU site. Still a good deal compared to buying locally.

    • +2

That's the US store, you have to change the country to Australia at the top.

      Link to Australian store.

Total becomes AUD$1,008.78 including shipping which is more expensive than this deal.

    • +1

amazon is AUD 1,031.65 and newegg is AUD$1,008.78 Delivered so am i doing something wrong ?

      • Pay it in USD and it may be cheaper. Amazon charges their own conversion rates compared to your bank/credit card. It was cheaper to go with USD from Amazon in my case.

EDIT: Kept me under the $1000 import fee's etc.

        • hi thanks for the reply im with Commonwealth and they charge 0.7496 so works out still over $1000

        • are you with citibank by any chance?

        • @ABUKEE: You don't want to make purchases with a bank account such as Commonwealth as they charge a 3% international transaction fee when you purchase things in a foreign currency.

It's best to look for a credit card or bank account that doesn't charge an international fee such as a Citibank Plus Transaction account or Macquarie Transaction account.

Most of the time it's always cheaper to pay in a foreign currency without an international transaction fee.

        • @moneybaby: thanks a lot they just told me that been on hold for 22 mins they mentioned the 3% fee and also said for rates look at Mastercard which is a lot better than Amazon but still has a annoying bank fee just waiting for my Citibank card to come

        • @ABUKEE: yup. Citibank plus. It's a MasterCard

      • Amazon don't remove VAT until the final checkout step

        • Order Summary
          Items: AUD 1,008.36
          Shipping & handling: AUD 23.29
          Total before tax: AUD 1,031.65
Estimated tax to be collected: AUD 0.00
          Order total: AUD 1,031.65

      • +1

Make sure your card isn't set in AUD currency, Amazon automatically converts it. Checkout with USD and it should show $777USD total price, which your bank will convert to the aforementioned price ($982~).

        • -1

the bank conversion works out $1037 ?

        • @ABUKEE: ordered this on the 18th using my 28degrees and it came to AUD$994.50 incl postage (very close to that magic $1000 mark!)

        • @ry34: nice enjoy

        • +1

@ABUKEE: still waiting for it to ship though… is Amazon always this slow?

  • How it compare to this one? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gigabyte-nVidia-GeForce-GTX-1080-…. $1100 after discount.

Also, why warehouse1 has it very cheap?

    • +1

If it's not in stock they can put any price they want.

  • Prob could put how many GB in the post/title

    • +13

If you know what a 1080ti is you'd probably know it's 11gb and anyone who doesn't wouldn't and probably shouldn't be spending this much on a card like this without doing their research.

      • 1080TI only comes in 11GB?
I want one but did not know that.

  • Aren't most of the 1080 TI's much of a muchness? Why would one cancel their order for the EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/317703 in order to purchase this? Is it just because it's in stock? This new deal is about $100 more expensive.

    • +3

In gaming performance they're all a much of a muchness. This model has better temps which are kinda overkill and slightly less noise if you tweak the fan curve due to having 3 fans.

Its not worth the extra money over the SC2 IMO, refer to here. http://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/2900-evga-1080-ti-ftw3-…

      • Yeah on that basis I can't justify the extra $100 personally. Thanks muchly for your response.

    • Had one ordered locally and that deal has expired.

But I did just see that the sc2 is down to 729.99 usd+shipping from amazon us

    • Also this has jumped to 759 before postage now. Prices seem to be fluctating a lot.

  • Is it just me or are prices starting to drop on amazon even the 1080s have dropped?

  • Wow that's a great price for a FTW3

  • +1

Not as cheap as previous amazon.co.uk deal which worked out at £574.12 / $941.77 AUD, but still cheap.

  • Does it really take 2 weeks for delivery or normally it is quicker?

    • If in stock it takes under 2 weeks usually for regular shipping to Melb. Quickest was probably just over a week, usually 1.5 weeks.

    • Usually a bit under. Most of the time is when it sits in customs / the Australia Post Void here.

Best deals from the past 6 months:

    GTX 1080ti

    GTX 1080

    GTX 1070

    GTX 1060

    GTX 1050ti

All prices in AUD not USD.

Rushed a bit through this sorry. Looked for the absolute cheapest deals so these are mostly outliers. Feel free to reply with any extra or more better info etc. I did notice actually last year's prices to sometimes be much cheaper than current prices due to the surge in ethereum and cryptocurrency mining. Reports have said for it to be declining but we shall see I guess how that goes over the next few months.

Edit: lol just had a mini heart attack my Firefox browser crashed and I thought I just lost a few hours data haha lol.

    • The $404 for the GTX 1070 was a pricing error from MSY where they doubled the 10% deduction, so it should've just been $505.

      • Yeah I think almost no one got one.

      • Ah ok cheers thanks I'll delete that. Was definitely too good to be true. Hmm just realised I can't edit it anymore so new folks reading this just ignore the

        GTX 1070
$404 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/284404) last year boxing day sale

  • Do you void EVGA Warrranty on graphics cards if you take the stock cooler off and put in in a EKWB GPU Waterblock ?

    • No it won't void your warranty

80 cents today fellas - either wait for vega in the hope of a price cut or jump on now
