I already bought my gaming laptop from you in the EOFYS and I love it so far. Please please please consider allowing people to do pickup. You don't seem to offer a postage option with postal insurance which is a real concern for expensive items.

To make matters worse I live in Quakers Hill and missed the delivery. I had to collect it from Seven Hills Business Park, which is further from me than both your Blacktown and Castle Hill stores. Australia Post drivers can't even be bothered dropping to local post office anymore. I had to waste a lunch time and petrol to go get it. Oh and to add insult to injury when you make a complaint and don't stay on the line for their survey you get an automated callback from Australia Post.

    • Hi syousef,

Glad to hear you're enjoying your laptop mate! Sorry to hear about your issues with Australia Post though, I understand the frustration!
Regarding the postal insurance, you are definitely covered and insured - we protect our buyers and accept full responsibility should something go wrong postage wise.

Click n Collect from our own stores is something we continuously do get asked about, and I can assure you that it is something we on working on facilitating with eBay, and hopefully offering sometime down the line. We actually offer Click n Collect to Big W/Woolies stores (as they're affiliated in the ClicknCollect program).

Pickup from our stores is possible in the meantime on this offer though - just select "Delivery" as the option and send us a message on eBay after to confirm which store you'd like to pick it up from, and we'll process the rest. Currently ironing out some logistics and etc, as we're growing our fairly new eBay expansion.

Appreciate the feedback - thank you for being a dedicated customer!

    • On eBay, it doesn't matter if a seller offers postage insurance or not. If a package is lost or arrives damaged, 99.9% of the time they'll have to refund you regardless of whether insurance was selected. If they offer insurance as an option at extra cost and you opt to not pay extra, you're still covered as it's the sellers responsibility to ensure the package arrives to you safely. If the seller wants to take the risk by not sending with insurance, it's their problem if it gets lost/damaged, not yours.

      • You are wrong about that:

        http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/policies/money-back-guarantee.…

"Items damaged during pick-up or postage" is specifically not covered in the Ebay Money Back Guarantee.

Also don't rely on the things that are covered. I had a recent dispute over some camera batteries. A $40 purchase. The seller provided false tracking information (a fake Australia Post tracking number) and that was taken as evidence that the parcel had been shipped and the "item not received" dispute closed. I appealed. Both times I stated that the tracking number is false and doesn't appear when entered on the Australia Post tracking page, and the appeal was also closed, and my feedback removed. The seller had claimed to send the items twice by that stage (the second time with the fake tracking info). Only when I started chargeback proceedings did the seller give me a refund (at which point I cancelled the dispute on my credit card).

Note that I am not suggesting JWComp is dodgy. This was a totally different seller. I have had minor issues with JW but they are definitely a legitimate business. The packed the laptop I just bought really well actually. My only issues with JW are to do with sometimes higher prices than their competitors and a single return of a small item some years ago (where certain sales staff were rude and sent me from one store to the other). That put me off for a long while but I have been dealing with them for years.

        • Interesting. It seems their policies are quite conflicting. On this page (http://pages2.ebay.com.au/eBay_Money_Back_Guarantee/FAQs) it mentions that postage "damage is cover under being not as described":

A "not as described" item should be materially different from what the seller described in the item listing. This includes:
          - Different item or version
          - Wrong condition (e.g. the listing stated the item was "new" when it's clearly been used)
          - Missing parts or components (e.g. a listing for a camera kit stated it would include a tripod, but it's missing)
          - Defective during first use (e.g. TV didn't turn on)
          - Counterfeit item
          - Missing major parts or features, and this wasn't mentioned in the listing
          - Damaged during postage

          There's also this:
"Remember, the seller is responsible for the item until it's in the buyer's possession. eBay Money Back Guarantee protects buyers if items arrive damaged, and sellers should consider insuring their items to protect themselves against damage or loss." - http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/pay/shipping-problems.html

I think if an item arrives damaged and you open a INAD you'd likely win the case. Otherwise, sellers could take photos of a working item, send you a broken one and claim it was damaged in transit and be exempt from refunding the buyer. EBay is generally heavily biased towards the buyer (I know your experience is contradictory to that but a fake tracking number is a whole different kettle of fish), Reddit and eBay's forums are littered with posts regarding buyers winning cases where they have broken the item themselves because they don't want it anymore and other shenanigans like sending back duplicate items that are already broken etc.

Personally, when selling I always include insurance in the postage cost as I would not want to test this particular policy for myself as there are plenty of first hand accounts of sellers having to refund for items damaged during shipping.

        • @pizzip:

Once again, I don't trust Ebay after my experience. You can't just assume that they will act reasonably ala "Otherwise, sellers could take photos of a working item, send you a broken one and claim it was damaged in transit" when you've experienced them close a dispute and appeal because they consider a fake tracking number as proof of delivery.

I was very nervous spending $1700 on a laptop after that. If I didn't have the backing of my credit card policies I wouldn't have spent the money. And that's with a seller that has 100% positive feedback.

  • Will they be shipped straight away? I need something quick.

    • Hey hawamahal,

The current turnaround time for dispatch is either tomorrow or the following business day. So the worst case scenario is, they're shipped on Monday. Hope this fits your time frame!

  • Review for anyone interested (more RAM in review version): https://www.notebookcheck.net/Gigabyte-P55W-v6-Notebook-Revi…

  • Any chance to up the RAM to 16GB :D

    • Hey joshuah - sure we can upgrade the RAM! Just send a message after the purchase, and we will get in touch with you to confirm the upgrade turnaround/availability. We'll sort the payment side of it, after you confirm which RAM/specs etc. Hope this helps!

  • Thanks everyone. Looking for something for my son. Much appreciated.

  • Do you have Aero 15?

    • Hey taurion61 - we don't have the Aero 15 in stock, however our supplier does currently have 5 left. Did you want pricing? Send us a PM and i'll look into it for you straight away.

      • I'm also keen on the Aero 15, PM sent.

  • Hi Rep, bought your Acer Predator 17"Laptop during your last deal for my friend and he is extremely happy with it. He had me convinced to get 1 myself so looking for a similar deal for a Acer 17", GTX1070 laptop in your next offer!

    • Hey disa1377,

Glad to hear your friend is content with the Predator. Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming deals - have passed onto your interest for the GTX1070 laptops to our product manager. This 1060 laptop we have advertised isn't too far off though, check it out!

      • +2

my friend have both gigbyte and acer, he preferred acer due to better keyboard typing, backlights with zone, cool even after heavy usage and a raid m.2 drive..thats why he recommended the acer predator. Anyway, thks for passing the msg and i am sure theres lots of interest here for those who missed the last deal.

        • Ahh, right.
