Camera: Sony CyberShot DSC-RX100 II $509 Delivered @ Sony Store

160

Hi All,

Been watching for a while and just picked up a Sony RX100M2 (RX100 II) for $509 less 2.2% cashrewards on current Sony sale.

Sony says RRP is $899 but doubt it. EOFY sony sale is was at $599.

At current price (less cashrewards) it appears to be the lowest ever for oz stock/retailer and only about $60 more then what some second hand ones are selling for on ebay.

Note: when browsing from Sony home page follow:
Sony.com.au / latest offers - which results in http://store.sony.com.au/sale

If you go via Cameras/Digital Still Camera's/purchase etc the price is still $899 ???

For reference i think its on run out - hardly anybody stocking it and the despite the original Rx100 still being carried and readily available for $599 (or the M3 for $899+)

enjoy.

Not really a bargain for a 4 year old camera.

    • It still performs much better than many new pocket cameras.

        Which ones?

    • Agreed picked this up for 700 4 yrs ago

It's a great camera but surely you're better off getting the new models for a bit more

JB want $1199 less $100 promotion for the RX100M3? definitely cant justify +$600 or even +200-$400 (grey) for the functions it will afford me as a novice.

gave serious thought to the pana tz80/110 but needed better low light.

interesting perhaps its because the new versions are not that much better?

          @Gimli:

there are some specific changes but nothing earth shattering as far a i can tell ie trading up to the M3/4 - again as a novice.

        • I don't think you are going to get better low light as a compact unless you spring for the rx1.

        • Sony have it for $899 less $100 gift card - http://store.sony.com.au/DSCRX100M3.html

We're at $290 more. Not a huge amount for quite a bit newer tech.

For a novice, I'd recommend going the G9 x mark 2, touchscreen, bluetooth, faster start up, faster shooting and is regularly sub-$500 in an ebay sale.

  • Does it have 4k?

    • It does not do 4k video. 1080 only.

    • just 1080p. Mark 4 and 5 have 4K

      • as above your looking at close to $1K for 4K in this range, oz stock.

        • Isn't it more worth it to get a dslr of mirrorless for 1-4k?

  • Not sure if a bargain now, but a great camera. I upgraded from this to mark iv version and not much better.

  • try out in store if you haven't already. Pretty disappointing for the asking price

The mark 3 was as cheap as $568 last that year at jb-hifi.
Depends on your usage but for me it was worth it for the 180 degree rotating screen for selfies.

    • yeah that would have been for sure. nothing like that in recent sales unfortunately.

    • So glad I snapped that up at the time, ripper deal before they adjusted the prices.

As far as I know, the closest it's come since then is the recent 20% off digidirect eBay stacked with the sony cash back promotion.

      • That was a good day!

  • Any one know when the $100 Sony vouchers expire?

Edit: Mine still works. Not email specific either

      • Thanks. Not long left now. Will give away if I don't use myself.

        • Would be happy to take it off your hands if you don't end up using it ;)

    • where did this $100 sony voucher come from?

  • Can't comment on M2 but the M4 is an amazing camera. Was lucky to score a 'refurb' for ~800 from this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/296921.

  • I have this camera for a few years now, great camera, can shoot RAW too, lots of manual control etc.

  • Got a $500 Sony voucher but don't need a camera.. how much can I sell one of these brand new.. hmm

    • Just sell the voucher
