For that price I think you can rule out optical input.

      • Would have guessed as much, but stranger things have happened :)

I use a DAC, similar to this one for my wireless headphones with my TV that only has optical out. Work's fine - only problem is the headphones are AAA powered.

  • any expressi deal?

The plastic welder sounds very similar to this:

That's what I was thinking. The Aldi price reminds me of the TV Shopping rip off price; if it really is the same stuff anyway.

      • Has anyone tried the aliexpress one?

      • I've tried a similar one, and it wasn't very good.
Firstly it smells, really really strong, so wouldn't leave it sitting in a small space whilst drying.
And the tube smells just as bad, so if it sits in a draw in a closet, the draw/closet will smell.

If you put just a small dot of the plastic glue, and shine the light, it will harden, but if you want to cover say and area 5cmx5cm, you'll be there all day shining the light, and it still wont harden. So you'll lose patience and leave it sit a day or two.
Then most likely you'll find it has dried and thinned out.

Also, usually, if say you glue a area that might slightly bend ( like they say you can ), it will most likely just crack and crumble away.

Plus a small amount of fumes is released as it hardens.

But, then again, I did come across the bondic site, and it "seems" higher quality, and maybe their chemical liquid is of a better standard, maybe not, but the rest I assume are the same as the ones I tried.

    • Shipping is killer for the kick-starter

      • OzBargain group buy?

    • Yeah it does look alike lol. So it is using plastic ? Or a-glue-likes-substances?

Anyone know if the headphones are digital?

The headphones are cheap and rubbish.

This is them from the last time they were sold - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/275544

      • Double the price now. Jesus Christ

        • Double the price now. Jesus Christ

No, they were $40 last time as well but this was a clearance at one particular store.

  • Are the headphones any good? For $40?

    • +2

No questions asked return policy should you not be satisfied with them

    • +2

NO. they're crap. Bought a pair on their last special buy and returned them within hours. Flimsy and noisy.

      • As much as I'm a fan of Aldi, I also haven't had much luck with their tech stuff. I think their PC's / laptops were OK though.

        • My experience is also mixed. Some great buys and a few that have been returned the same day.

      • +1

        Same experience.. returned next day

  • Can the power meter measure what my PC is consuming? I'm doing some overclocking soon, could be handy.

    • Yes

      • -4

        Yes

But not accurately. If you want accuracy you need to buy something like the PowerMate Lite - https://shop.ata.org.au/shop/power-mate-lite

        • Wow but for the price difference, I'll stick with Aldi.

        • +4

@cloudie9: Most libraries have power save kits that contain power mates, infrared thermometers and guides available. It would be worth double checking with the library to see if you can borrow one. It is not something you are going to be using all the time so borrowing it works out well.

        • @synn:

You can't compare the two. One is actually useful and can tell you exactly how much power something uses in a year whereas the other one is a very rough guide at best. The Power Mate can be plugged in a timer set so it records the power usage for that period, perfect for fridges, tv's and so forth to measure power usage over time and also see if savings can by made by adjusting temperature etc.

        • @CVonC: and you can 'borrow' from Aldi for up to 60 days

    • Does your PC power supply have active PFC? (i.e. a high efficiency rating)

If not, I wouldn't bother, the Aldi meter won't be accurate enough to tell you anything useful.

    • I would recommend using the Xiaomi Mi Smart Power Strip. This will give you a wifi switchable power board that has an integrated power meter (all outlets combined) for about ~$35 delivered. Oh and you can schedule ON/OFF timings.

Nice job nocure :-). I think I would be shocked if I used that power meter plugged in line with my 65 inch Pioneer Kuro plasma TV. Though during the cooler months here in Perth our plasma is great for heating half the house as well as giving us a nice picture.

    • My 51" Sammy uses about 350w on fairly bright settings. I'd say about 500w for the kuro lol

  • Does the headphones have noise cancelling?

    • For $40? I very much doubt it.

    • +3

      Yes, and foot massages.

  • I only just received this Saturday's catalogue after work and saw they have a 20V brushless drill for $50. Out for dinner now so if anyone wants to post it feel free :)

Why when it's already been posted multiple times!

I'm confident, but havent confirmed yet, but the current series of tools - XFinity, not Workzone - are made by Einhell Germany; which is the SAME company that makes Ozito stuff at Bunnings.

If this is CORRECT, that means batteries, tools, chargers are then fully cross-compatible.

It would also mean that the 5yr warranty at Bunnings for the same tool is probably the safer choice anyway. And more stock. And ease of accessories and tools. etc etc

      • 20v VS 18V ?

        • same thing it's 5 18650 batteries in series, a normal voltage 18v (3.7v per cell) or fully charged voltage of 20v (4.2v per cell)

        • @fleabag: If that's true, that would be awesome. I've been eyeing off an Ozito cordless jigsaw at bunnings, and it would be nice to not have to buy another battery+charger.

  • Guys I have a soundbar connected to my tv through aux

    (Funnily enough, an aldi soundbar)

Can I also connect these headphones too and leave them permanently connected? By default, sound coming out via soundbar unless I switch on headphones?

  • If you have a bluetooth headset than why not get a bluetooth transmitter?

Which is less than $10 and connect to your bluetooth headset. Unfortunately the connectors are rca to 3.5 Jacks or 3.5 to 3.5

  • That model ship looks more like something out of Pirates of the Caribbean than the Cutty Sark.

  • Power monitor is a fairly generic thing too:
